RE: Progressive Fulltimers Insurance catch

Just had to tell the adjuster's the physical locataion of the vehicle for inspection. Same for the accident report. Police accident forms ask if the location of vehicle is different from the registration and/or Drivers license.

RE: Progressive Fulltimers Insurance catch

No problems with National Interstate either. Only problem is that N.I. does not sell home owners policies in Florida.
Luckily I have not had any claims on my fifth wheel but I did have 2 accidents(not my fault and other companies paid) with my TV and N.I. contacted me with in 24 hours of my notifying them. Each claim free year, my premiums drop $25 and carry over if you purchase a new RV or TV. Got my policy through Misty Luevano at Miller Insurance. Real great person to work with an she even calls me a week in advance to remind me of my payment/s due or any changes even though I have direct pay.

RE: wd-40 as bug cleaner and beyond?

Use Baby Oil before hitting the road. Washes off easy and takes the bugs with it. Also use the baby oil on the nose and bumper of my truck. Don't have any problems with the Love Bugs trying to honeymoon on either

RE: Heaters

I used the Delonghi Oil heater in my basement when I had my end unit 1st floor condo in NJ. Condo had a Heat Pump which was about usless in the winter so I installed a Pellet Stove in the kitchen to heat the first floor. My basement was 15' x 45" long. The upstairs unit did not have basement heat of any kind and they had problems with pipes freezing along with my bathroom which was between their stairs both up and down while my side of the basement was nice and cozy. I plan to get another for my 5'ver.

RE: Do new homebuyer tax credits apply to RV purchases?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I found this interesting from the website to which Rocky2 gave the link:
Q. Can a taxpayer who purchases a travel trailer qualify for the credit?
A. A travel trailer that is affixed to land may qualify as a principal residence.
So that begs the question, what does "affixed to land" mean, exactly?
I would think that if you have a hose from the holding tanks fixed to the ground septic system, that would be called Fixed.

RE: Do new homebuyer tax credits apply to RV purchases?

Bought my 5'ver Oct. 08 so I'm hopeing I can qualify for the tax credit. Somewhere I read that you can also claim the purchase of a tow vehicle. Any one have info on that?

RE: Indiana Flying J Fuel Price

Still have to check the fine print. Some stations post one price but that is only if you use their company credit card or pay cash. If you use a different credit card they add on 0.05 cents per gallon.

RE: Indiana Flying J Fuel Price

Indiana puts a tax on everything they can. That's one of the reasons I moved out of the state. Aurora, IN, now in Florida with the OLD GEEZERS.

RE: 14.9% interest!!!!

After being turned down by my bank for a vehicle load due to not having enough income(?), the dealer got my loan through Disney credit union at 5.6%. First 18 months payments include the extended warranty, then it drops a little more than $150 a month for the remainder of the load. If I had known this, I would have tried them for an RV loan since all the others wanted too much down, besides my trade in's, one even wanted 65% down. I plan to call them to inquire if they offer RV loans. If they do, then I plan to open a savings account with them.

RE: Stock 8.1 pulling 15k pounds without damage ?

What are the feelings on an 07 GMC 2500HD SRW with the Ally 1000, 3.73 rear and the 6.6l Duramax for towing a 35 foot Cameo? Had an 06 Silverado 2500HD with the Ally, 4.10 and the 8.1 gasser that pulled like there was nothing behind me, BUT, after my truck was hit 3 times since August, I felt it was an accident magnet. Right now I only make 1 or 2 trips from FL to Indiana and back mostly on I-65, but might head west next year.

RE: Fall Camping experience

It will suffer a slow death from gangrene. I've found a few that were hit in the spine area from almost straight down shots from stands. Bow hunting is a lot harder than with a gun even though you are closer. Used to tell my nephews to practice and then practice more until they could put EACH and EVERY arrow into a cigarette pack at 45 yards from every imaginable shooting position. If not, then DO NOT hunt until they can. And yes, they did practice and I don't think they ever missed or lost a deer from a bad shot.

RE: full size refrigerator in 5th wheel

Look at the doors on both the RV refigs and the Home Applience. The doors on the RV refrig are set back about 1 inch from the body to allow for brackets to hold in place. IF not attached to the walls, it could topple over while driving. Happened to friends who put one in their Prevost they were rebuilding to save money. What are you going to do without electric or propane while traveling or if the power goes out at the resort you might be staying? THEN what about the extra weight?

RE: Bike storage in basement of Cameo Carriage

The only pics I remember were of mounts for the kingpin and others of rear mounted baskets. You can fit a foldup bike inside but, only if you do not bring extra items that will not fit in the closets, drawers or floor space when the slides are in. You might want to get a big roll of the plastic wrapping material from Home Depot. Put your bikes on a ladder mounted bike holder then wrap the whole mess in the wrap. Looks like a big cocoon.

RE: Towing a Cameo

Had the 06 Chevy 2500HD with the 8.1 gasser. Towed an 04 Cameo F35KS3 with no problems except on rough roads. I had contacted GM Customer Service requesting all info on my truck by giving them the VIN. Their reply stated that under that VIN, the truck will tow a 15,500 Fifth Wheeler. Just traded it in for an 07 GMC 2500HD with the 6.6 Duramax due to my Chevy becomming a magnet for accidents, 3 since July. Did notice though that the rear on the Chevy was higher up than on the GMC.

RE: Diesel vs gas......................

Had an 06 Chevy with the 8.1, Allison and 4:10 rear. Towing my 35 foot Cameo, I was getting between 7.5 and 8.5 mpg, depending on the gas if it was ethanol or not. City was about 9-10. Just traded it in for an 07 GMC with the 6.6 Duramax Turbo, Allison a d 3:73 rear. The 8.1 climbed the hills on 75 north almost as good as being on flat ground. Not sure if I made a mistake or not but the Chevy was becomming a magnet for accidents, 3 since late July.

RE: What is the definition of a Recreation Vehicle??

As garym114 stated in his post "Temporary" living quarters. In all aspects, an RV is just that. A "Temporary" Living Quarters. And that "Temporary" living quarters designation is something Full-time RV'ers might have trouble with in the next year or so.

RE: Full Timing and Inflation

While at a Pre-retirement class given by the state I had worked for, the attorney who gave part of the class asked how many were planning to work until they were eligible to receive the full amount of retirement pay. His next question was how many were eligible to retire at a lower pay but planned to work until they could collect the full amount plus social security. His last question was how many were eligible to retire right then at less than full retirement pay and planned to do so instead of waiting. This last question only brought up 5 hands out of over 75 participents. The attorney's response was that this small group was the smartest of them all. His reasoning was that as we get older, our odds of living even 10 years longer were cut. Someone retiring at 55, collecting social security at 62 and dying at 70 will over the long haul make the same if not more than someone waiting until they turn 60 to retire and dying at 70. Another advantage of taking an early retirement is that at a younger age, you can still get another job if wanted.
I've been retired for 10 years now and know of at least 15 former co-workers who waited until they could collect the full amount and died less than 5 years into their retirements and a couple who never had the chance to enjoy retirement before dying on the job at 69.

RE: What is the definition of a Recreation Vehicle??

Garym114
Under Texas Law, does that mean a Temporary Living Quarters is considered a Permanant residence for owneship/CCW? That is the reply I am really interested in. I know each states laws differ on this subject. I'm also wonering how the banking industry will define RV's and Full-timing with the ever tightening of loans? I know my bank will not finance a Class A, but they will for a Towed RV. Yet my Auto/RV Insurance will not cover Full-timing in Any type of RV IF, it is used for Daily living quarters, so I have to have a Home Owners insurance coverage for while I'm docked someplace and even that can possibly change if I move to another state. Maybe I've lived in Florida too long.
