RE: Protect A Tow for Jeep?

I'm not convinced that damage to a toads windshield comes from the MH that is towing it. If you look at the angle from the MH tires to the toad windshield there is no way a rock can travel to most windshields. We had a full width rock guard on the back of our MH when we first bought it. The rock guard caused more rocks to fly around because it acted like a big broom. I took the rock guard off and installed wider and longer mud flaps directly behind the dual tires. Both time we have had broken windshieds it has been on the MH and has come from cars on one side or the other passing us. Plus it's a JEEP.

RE: No dash camera for me

I'm not saying anyone should lie. Very often our perception of what happens in the seconds before an accident isn’t always completely clear or accurate. It’s quite natural not to want to be the person that caused an accident and to blame someone else. Often bad habits, of any kind, become ordinary and we don’t even notice them. Most of the time those bad habits that we have and the bad habits of the other driver don’t result in an accident, sometimes they do. The post about using the camera to be a better drive is a good one. The camera would be a good tool to show us what bad habits we have so we could correct them.

No dash camera for me

I’ve been reading several posts about which dash camera is best, which one has the clearest pictures etc. The reasoning goes that if you’re in an accident you can prove who is at fault…..what happens if you’re at fault? Don’t want to pick on anyone but one of the posts had the video from the newly installed dash cam to show everyone how clear the video was. Well, it also showed him blowing right through the stop sign in his neighborhood. Lets face it most accidents happen by ‘accident’. I’ll be the first to admit that I am not always paying attention like I know I should be, or maybe I’m following too close, or speeding, or trying to make a turn at the last minute because I was distracted. Sometimes the he said vs she said works in your favor. I’d like to have video of some of the beautiful places we’ve driven through but I don’t want video of some of the ‘bone head’ moves I’ve made over the years. Safe travels to ALL.

RE: Dolphin Class A

We have a 2004 Dolphin 5342 that we have owned since 2005. It has 51000 miles and has been a great MH. We recently went to the RV Show in Pomona Ca and looked at new and used, gas and diesel and found we liked ours better than anything we saw. The amount of storage we have both inside and outside is far more than any MH we saw. The only problem we have that occurs on a regular basis is the bedroom slide assy. motor pin. I have become quite proficient at changing the pin and can get it done in about 10 minutes. If something ever happened to this MH we would find another Dolphin.

RE: thoughts on the brake buddy

Recently installed a ReadyBrake system on my Dolphin (gas) and a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. The install went easy. We used it on a trip to Arizona and are very happy with the way it worked. The only change I made was to install a switch on the Cherokee brake light switch so the brake lights don't come on when the Cherokee brake pedal is moved.

RE: San Diego street parking

Our city just finished with a RV ordinance. We are a very small beach community and our streets are narrow and mainly residential. We also had a 72 hour rule about any vehicles but it was being obused by 5 RVs that parked around the schools and not infront of their own homes. After much debate and the RV owners joining forces we ended up with no oversize vehicle parking around schools, public building or parks. That was something the city could live with and allowed residents to park their RV infront of their homes as long as their neighbors didn't have a problem with it (none do)The RVs that were causing the problems around the schools have been sold or moved to storage yards.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

This is an idea I learned about here or one of the other foums. We placed a small white dry erase board to the back of the cupboard. When we arrive at a new campground I write the name, address, spot number and phone number of the campground. If one of us need the paramedics in the middle of he night we know where we are.

RE: The couch is too soft....

There are a lot of RV salvage places around. It my be to your advantage to replace your sofa rather than trying to change something that isn't solid in the first place

RE: Pomona show

We spent Tuesday (10/16)at the show. It was nice to be able to see so many differnt brands and styles in one place. We weren't in the market for a new MH but enjoyed looking at all the MHs, trailers and 5th wheels. Luckily for us and our bank account we found we like the unit we have now. The salesmen we talked to were very informative and not pushy. There weren't many vendors in the tent, which was a little disappointing. We go every couple of years and find that is enough for us. It was fun.

RE: Shocks

When we bought our 2004 Dolphin in 2005 on a W22 Workhorse chassis from the original owner. It came with the factory shocks (Monroe I think) The ride was sloppy and I just felt out of control. We changed to the Bilstiens and they improved the feel but they were harsh riding and I could feel every crack in the road. After reading several posts here and at other forums I bit the bullet and bought the Koni FSDs. Huge improvement in ride and feel. The Bilstiens only had about 500 miles on them but I'm glad I made the change. Ended up giving the almost new Bilstiens to a fellow RVer in South Carolina. I understand Bilstien has since come out with shocks that ride more like the Konis so it maybe a toss up now. The Konis really are an investment in a comfortable ride and safe handling.

RE: Rechargeable LED lantern

I bought the one from Harbor Frieght also. Works great! One of the best things about it is the LED light don't attract bugs. The price is right also.

RE: Need to find a comfortable camp chair

We just purchased the Newport Blue chair from Camping World. It has a high back and an extendable foot rest. Very comfy. Next time you are close to Camping World go inside and sit on the chairs they have set up on the floor. There are so many choices the best way is to sit for a while and try them out.
