RE: florida

Check out parks in Zephyrhills. We stay at the Sterling Heights RV Resort...
There is also White's RV park out on Chancey Road.
These are the 2 least expensive in Zephyrhills. There are so many parks, but many have been bought by Carefree RV Resorts. They have raised their rates through the roof!!
We love it at Sterling Heights RV Resort... a six month stay is $1750.00 plus you pay metered electric. Internet service is provided by Bright House Cable. Phone service is available... although we use our cell phones and Magic Jack. 1 mile to local Florida Hospital, 3 miles to Super Walmart. Sterling Heights RV Resort
We love the Zephyrhills area which is about 20 miles N of Tampa.
Hope this helps!! :)

RE: Oh boy, I really did it now......

Hello,
I'm glad you can get the glass replaced.... Just make sure that whoever replaces it takes the time to recaulk and does a REALLY good job or you will have a really big leak!! We had our window replaced and they didn't caulk around the window. UGH!! They need to put in a good, tight seal around the entire window!
Hope it all works out well!! :)

RE: Lyme Disease....getting bad!

Our beautiful Sheltie (Shelby) who passed away back in April had Lyme disease a couple of years ago. It was very serious at the time. We had to keep her on antibiotics for 28 days. We had noticed over the years that she still had some of the effects from the disease. Her legs were never the same... Our vet said that they don't get rid of Lyme disease 100%. We believe that her failing kidneys were the result of the Lyme disease. She had lost most of the use of her back legs also.
We live in a game preserve in Maine... it's deer country for sure!!!
Most of our neighbors have had pets or children with Lyme disease!!
I also had Lyme disease about 4 years ago... I had the red bullseye, and had previously been VERY sick with flu like symptoms!! I had an upset stomach, fever, chills, hot flashes... etc. The most endearing part of this whole event was trying to convince my Dr. at the time that I had Lyme disease. He was totally negative to the idea. He claimed he had never heard of the "bullseye" associated with Lyme Disease. I told him he could find out all the information on the computer... He finally gave in, checked out Lyme disease on the computer and agreed to give me a blood test. I TESTED POSITIVE!!
I took the antibiotics for 28 days... and made a good recovery.
Lyme disease is nothing to mess with!! Please take precautions and make sure you check yourself out after being outside!! Oh, and if you hang out your clothes....check them too! I think that's how the little bugger got me!! :)
Good thread....

RE: Need new cellphone.....AT&T???

Hi again....
I have read several reviews of the LG Vu phone, similar to the iphone. I am not impressed with the reviews. It's probably ALOT more phone than I would need. I don't do text messaging, media net, web surfing...etc. I just want a phone with good clear reception. I do like the camera phones, so that would be OK.
We have an account with AT&T and I am due for an upgrade. I've never bought from e-bay...so that's probably out too!!
I will keep shopping and check out other websites and also an AT&T store.
If anyone has a really good phone, I'd LOVE To know about it!!
Thanks,

Need new cellphone.....AT&T???

I am in the market to purchase a new cell phone. My old Razr has bit the dust!!
I have been searching different websites looking at phones. The AT&T site doesn't have alot to offer. The "Lets Talk" site offers much more and the prices seems very good. With a new 2 year Renewal, they are offering FREE PHONES...FREE ACTIVATION....and some even have a good rebate offer of $25 or $50.
Questions: Is it better to buy online or go to an AT&T store?? I find the sales people try to sell you expensive phones.
Has anyone here bought from Let's Talk?? What was your experience??
If they offer Blue Tooth, do you pay for it on a per month basis??
I am interested in the LG Vu phone, but it seems to have alot of "stuff" that I wouldn't use.
Any suggestions for a nice inexpensive phone is appreciated!!
Thanks,

RE: I think this educator went nuts.

As I have read the message boards, it has been made abundantly clear that the so-called rules that Ms. Lukas made the kids and parents sign was actually made under a threat. If they did not sign, (both parents and students) then they would NOT be allowed into the graduation!! I'm sorry, but this is still America and I don't think she has the LEGAL right to make that type of threat. What if I as a parent don't agree with just ONE of the rules....then my child can't graduate?? Ridiculous!! I have never heard of bad behavior at a BEHS graduation?? I have attended several myself and have many friends whose kids have graduated from BEHS. This is the first time EVER that graduation was a problem. It was not caused by the students.... it was the administration!!
I really believe if she had used a different attitude, she could have avoided this entire fiasco!! If she had said, "Let's have a great celebration, but please be respectful and courteous to the speakers."

RE: I think this educator went nuts.

Well, I have just learned by reading a message board that another student was nearly denied his diploma. It seems that when his name was called, the entire student body along with the audience stood up and applauded this young man who is leaving for the Marine Boot Camp!!! She tried to withhold his diploma, but he grabbed it away from her. She was upset because of the Thunderous applause!! She would not shake his hand!! :M
I have been reading a local message board from parents who witnessed this fiasco. They say that the Super was nasty to both students and parents.

RE: I think this educator went nuts.

Here I am again!! I would like to add more facts, but I only know what I have read and seen on TV....
We have been concentrating on Justin Denny, the young man who blew a kiss and bowed to his parents. There is another young man who was escorted out of the building and didn't receive his diploma either.
It seems that one of the kids broke the rule and had a beach ball... apparently the wrong kid was blamed for it... and when he tried to tell the deputy (quick Draw Magraw :) ) that it wasn't his beach ball. the deputy asked him who it belonged to and he said he wasn't sure. So.... he was told to leave.
When he resisted, Quick Draw told him he could leave quietly or he would be arrested and taken out in handcuffs!! He proceeded to leave and threw his graduation gown at the officer outside. (This story was reported in the Portland, ME newspaper) If I can go back and find the story, I will try to create a link.
So, I know of 2 students that weren't given their diplomas. I am very surprised that we have not heard more about the 2nd young man.
The other side of the Justin Denny story is..... He was wearing an athletic award cord... for a championship in a sport. (not sure which sport) Apparently, the Nazi Super told the graduates that SHE WOULD ONLY ALLOW HONOR STUDENTS to wear their cords!! So, as he approached his parents, he took his Championship Cord from under his robe... and proceeded to the awaiting Nazi Super!!
I just really wonder who she is to make up all these rules to follow?? It was HIS diploma, his Championship Cord... and if he wants to wear it at his HS graduation, then who is SHE to tell he can't??? He should wear it with pride!! :)
As I hear more, I will share it. This coming Monday night, the school board has called a special public meeting. The news reports say the Super will be there... which I seriously doubt!! If I had a dog in this fight, I'd be there with bells on.... I am sure the news media will have great coverage...
Stay tuned!! :B

Please go to www.wcsh6.com

These are the news stations here in Southern Maine covering this story. There is also video to watch.
The Superintendent in my opinion was trying to anger the graduates and their parents. Talk about a lack of respect!!!

RE: I think this educator went nuts.

Well, I need to add my 2 cents worth here!! I happen to live within 3 miles of this school. (Bonny Eagle High School) I have 3 kids who graduated from BEHS.
I do not know any of the participants, but I am well aware of BEHS and all of the problems associated with that school. The staff has a very NEGATIVE attitude toward the students and parents.
I have been watching all of the news reports about this recent graduation. There is NO indication that any of the students wanted to cause problems. I have attended numerous BEHS graduations. I have NEVER witnessed bad behavior. I think cheering, clapping, blowing kisses, and hugging friends & family is all part of the celebration. The beach balls could become annoying....but I don't think it should be treated criminally!!
The mood from the administration was described as very somber... apparently,
the Superintendent had a bad hair day or had a hair a cross her butt.
I hope the school board fires her...or she has the good sense to step down!!
She ruined graduation for the BEHS class of 2009!!

RE: Maine Camping $$$$ ?

As a Mainer.... I have camped at that campground when it was known as Barcadia Campground. It was a really nice place. I don't remember what we paid there but I would guess that it was around $30-35 a night.
I just did some quick math and I think what others are saying has merit. If you rent 25 sites @ $80.00 a night, that equals $2,000 per night. If you rent 50 sites @ $60.00 a night, that equals $3,000 per night. If you rent 70 sites @ $50.00 a night, that equals $3,500 per night.
It would seem only logical that if you have empty sites, you're losing money!! When more than 1/2 of your sites are empty... it's time to LOWER THE PRICE!!!!!!! In these tough economic times, it's crazy to charge exhorbitant prices and drive your business away.
