RE: Be careful!!!

had this happen to me 4 years ago. lucky for me it was an inside rear tire. scarred the socks off of me. sidewall blew right out and the tire was cold; had driven 2 miles for gas.

RE: What not to Miss After Wall and the Badlands

mt rushmore twice; day and night. custer state park to include the needles, and devils tower are my 3 favorites. (i wonder if that little hot dog stand is still in the alley in keystone too)

RE: Ford air conditioner/heater blower motor

my 2000 damon was a blower motor from a 1997-2000 suburban. should come out with 3 screws. take it to NAPA; those people have mad skills to match parts.

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

i greased the F53 (all 13 zirks)and changed the oil/filter. meant to do this in spring but my quad bypass got in the way. felt great to be able to actually do something. we'll be taking the first trip of the 2012 season in 3 weeks. all 50 miles and 3 days of it. i consider myself very very lucky.

RE: Water Heater Problem

just as a guess it sounds like an alignment issue between the pilot and the main burner. the pilot and the thermocouple are properly aligned because the pilot is staying on. the main valve is opening as the thermocouple sees the pilot but the main gas is not being ignited by the pilot flame. make sure everything in the burner assembky is clean. also look for a mud wasp nest which can alter the fuel flow direction. the flame won't burn a mud wasp nest out either. good luck and be careful with gas.

RE: Saturn toads

tows like a dream. 32-36 MPG driving around town. our 95 looks brand new thanks to the plastice body panels. they use a 1/2 quart of oil every 1000 miles. GM dumped saturn because the cars last way too long and the plant wasn't UAW. that planned obsolesnce thing.

RE: Add ons for better MPG Class A Gas

i tried driving with bedroom slippers instead of shoes. didn't help much. still got 8 MPG over 2500 miles down to WDW and back.

RE: slide out room stuck

my guess is that your "extend' valve is stuck in the open position. as you have internet access google a pdf for your system layout to find the valve or the wiring diagram to make sure the retract valve is getting +12 VDC. sometimes they need a little hammer tap to free up.

RE: slide out room stuck

darcylp: hope you get it fixed and don't worry about the goof complaining about the double post; based on his sig pic he's in the wrong forum anyway. he should be in the pick-up truck and trailer forum. how rude for robsouth to make that comment when someone has a problem and is looking for us to help.

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

RE: Do you use a CB or has that gone the way of the Dino

we always use ours on the road. alerts us to road back-ups and, most importantly, built-in NOAA to include severs weather alert even when turned off. has saved us twice from running into a tornado and very high winds and rain. and channel 19 offers endless enjoyment at night.

RE: Positive Battery Post Bulge

put your safety glasses on, get some gloves, and remove that bomb . i had one blow on me before i could get it out. they make a pretty good bang when they let loose. then you get to clean up a lot of battery acid. for the price of a battery i wouldn't take any chances once the case becomes distended.

RE: Fuel consumption on genset

our onan uses 1 gal/hr when we have 1 rooftop unit and the fridge as loads.

RE: Need a place to go for our first Class A Trip

as boring as it sounds i also vote driveway. then limit first trip to 100 miles or less. don't even think of sturgis during bike week; i've been there twice during my biker days and it's too crowded to be enjoyed. make sure you get a road service. search rv.net and you'll get different opinions as to which company is best for your needs. then best tool to carry on the road is a cell phone. air compressor ranks 2nd. enjoy your rv as much as possible. good luck and safe traveling.

RE: Pet DOGS what is the deal

our dog is quieter than most people. i pay extra for the dog and i'm happy to do so but i always forget to tell them about the 2 cats. i was actually charged once for the cats that never go outside even at home. never went back to that campground again nor have i recommended them to anyone.

RE: Onan 4000

things to check: fuel level in main tank needs to be over 1/4 for the genset due to different fuel pick-up. fuel filter on gen. finally, check fuel lines for collapsing or kinks. this happened to me. when it got hot in the gen set compartment the fuel line softened, kinked, then stopped fuel flow to the gen due to old age of runner fuel line. good luck.
