RE: Replacement LEDs

How hard is it to convert the porch lights in a WW..? What bulb base is used ? Got the 2 WW porch/spot lights with hi/low switch. Was thinking it would be nice to convert one of them to LED on its low beam only setting. That way could still use hi beams of both lights when lots of light was temporarily needed. And then be able to keep it on low beam for 1 led light on all night. Thinking this might take an additional light fixture because not enough room in the oem porch light fixture. Unless I just completely convert 1 light to led on low beam only, and disconnect the other lights low beam wire. Then I could switch on low beam, and only 1 light would come on in LED for an all night low watt draw security light. And still have 1 light with oem WW porch light high beam. What have others done for the porch lights? Can you take pictures of your set-up and bulbs?

RE: Replacement LEDs

So I tried out the bulbs, I like!! Front of the trailer.. This is an old plate style I got from some Super Bright place. Not so bright anymore.. sorry for the focus https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/18900_4958697802285_1152131149_n.jpg height=400 width=600 New M4 LED bulb installed, big difference. https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/299974_4958697842286_575703725_n.jpg height=400 width=600 Porch light. Old plate light, it's a rigid that was designed to be more like a incandescent light (great when your wife hates the white light of an LED) https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/3478_4958697962289_2046702807_n.jpg height=400 width=600 New M4 LED bulb light. https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/72298_4958698522303_920142110_n.jpg height=400 width=600 I'll try the plate lights inside the trailer tonight.

RE: Replacement LEDs

Just for your info OP, I used eBay as well. I got tired of posting it in forums so wrote it up on my blog below.... -Chak Great info on your blog... Really like the movement of the Convertor. it's obvious that electrical engineers are not employed by RV builders..

RE: Replacement LEDs

You know it's funny, I have bought everything but a house on E-bay, but now I am so turned off by the site now.. I use Amazon now cause I feel they have much better purchaser support.. Nothing like arguing with a foreign E-bay seller about the worthless product you just bought and the hassle of getting a refund or challenging a purchase! Since you dodged the question about your first purchase from eBay, I'll have to assume it was a blow up doll. Not that it's any of my beeswax. And yes, I love me some Amazon too. Blow up Doll? What is that? Must be something Computer nerds bought!! I was buying bicycle, motorcycle, and car parts back then..

RE: Replacement LEDs

By the way, just as a pointless hijack (it's Friday and all, so why not hijack my own thread)... Thinking back, can you remember the first thing you bought from eBay? Mine was in 1998. A guy in my office was trying to convince me that eBay was the greatest, and that there wasn't anything that I couldn't find on eBay: If I could think of it, I could find it on eBay. I told him I had been looking for an out of print Joe Jackson CD (Big World). I searched for it on eBay and found it brand new for under $10.

RE: Replacement LEDs

First, Eff E-Bay cheap LED's. almost burned up my trailer with cheap LED's!!! I sent them an e-mail asking about operating temps and build materials... I see they have addressed one my biggest complaints, operating voltage.. Most of us operate in the 10.5 to 14-15 volt range (discharge and charging). some of the crappy lights don't like the varying voltage. I will order a couple plate units and a couple of bulb style and see how the compare to the other LED's I have. The biggest question I have is the double aluminum plate units. I find it intriguing cause LED's put out a lot of heat. I want to know if this is why it was done and if it works.. I will let you know..

RE: Trailer Towing – ST Tires vs. LT Tires by Mark Polk

Thanks CapriRacer, very informative. Shoot, I can post a couple more photos. :) Questions first: "Did the tire that exploded go first?" Yes. "What position was the tire?" Both tires were on the rearmost axle with the first flat tire on the driver's side. "How much later did the 2nd tire let go?" Probably about a half hour later give or take a few minutes. I can't be sure since I was unaware of it until a passing motorist indicated I had a problem. "Is it possible that BOTH tires were the result of encountering an object?" I certainly did not see any object large enough to contact both tires, and noticed no jerk as I passed over something. No large craters in the highway, it was on Interstate 70 in Kansas. I ride motorcycles so I tend to watch the roadway for objects that can threaten my ride. All of which only ascertains that if something were there I did not see it. :) I checked air pressure in all tires before I started back up, since I was down for quite a while and had to add air to the spare before resuming my travels. I carry an air compressor and have an onboard generator which proved to be very handy since I was out in the middle of nowhere. A couple tires were down 2-3 psi, neither of which was the other failed tire. I filled those before leaving. Here is the exploded tire: http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh172/WantsFreeStuff/PhotoF.jpg width=640 http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh172/WantsFreeStuff/PhotoE.jpg width=640 I'm looking forward to weighing the separate axles next spring to get an actual idea of axle loading. Thanks for all the explanations, although I can't swear that it will convince me the tires are not faulty. :) I had two Carlises blow in the same way last weekend! Tire pressures were checked and were perfect. I was doing 55-60 mph and trailer was loaded the same as it always is!

Newport Dunes. You can do the beach and Dizzyland all in one place. Dizzy is a bit of a drive, but doable. Newport Dunes Another good place is, Orangeland RV Park

RE: Insurance Claim for Truck or Trailer?

Geico story - I had a young lady run a red light and she hit my Silverado in the passenger right front quarter panel. The damage at $1,500.00 wasn't much. It was Honda Accord vs. Silverado! To Geico's credit, they called me a few hours later. That is where the cooperation stopped. They admitted that she was at fault. They wanted me to take my Silverado across town 25 miles to THEIR body shop. I have a very reputable body shop I have used in the past less than 5 miles away. I told them that's where it was going. After a "heated discussion" where they said no it wasn't going there, I hung up the phone and called my insurance company. My insurance company at the time was Mercury Insurance. They said take it to where I wanted and they would fix it. I picked it up a week later (no deductible paid - remember I wasn't at fault). A few months later they collected the damages from Geico and the cost of the rental car. Since this happened (the term they used was subrogated with Geico) there was not a "ding" on my insurance record. I will NEVER INSURE WITH GEICO!!! They want you to go get the car inspected at their body shop and then offer you a low ball cash offer! You just take the check and the supplement sheet and go to a real body shop.

RE: East/west front bed - a pain or ??

Funny I never thought much about it. But I actually liked the Front sleeper in my WW better than the walk around in our Gearbox. Im to big for the bed in our Gearbox so the wife and I sleep in the bunk in the back. Walk arounds are 75 inch RV beds, E/W beds that are full legenth, 80 inches... @ 6' 2"ish, 75 inches ain't for me!! Besides I am camping not spending the rest of my life in there!! Like Dave E, I need a zip line, but I love using it once in a while!!
