RE: MAGICJACK

I hope all of you who use these devices. realise that you slow down or prevent others from being able to use the wifi that you are monopolizing during peak hours. Cell phone are not that expensive for phone calls and if you call others on your own provider they don't even cost miniutes.
On most broadband networks, no one's going to notice a few people using 64kb slices of a broadband channel. Now, I will admit some campgrounds are still running a 256kb DSL Internet connection and you might have a point. But I doubt you can blame MJ users for whatever problems you've experienced. Still, they're entitled to do so. I've had a "softphone" extension on our laptops and create a tunnel over the wifi to our office. Works for me without much of an issue.

RE: 1990 Pace Arrow Inside top is falling down

No offense meant, but I think you know your options - you either: live with it, move the coach to an area where there are techs, try it your self, find a mobile technician, or search around your area for a tech you might not know about (Take an ad out in your local Craigslist for instance, for an artisan to do the work)
It is highly likely that within a 20 to 50 mile circular area, there is someone who can do this, maybe even out of their garage - just make sure they are qualified - some do this as hobbies, and may be as skilled or better then very busy shops - be creative in your search

RE: Fresh Water in Holding Tank.

My cut-off is 2 months in the summer about 3 to 4 months in the fall - after that, we drain it and refill - well, in the winter we drain it between trips for "other" reasons...
note: we only drink the water in the summer (ice maker) - fall / winter is showers, dish washing, flushing, washer, etc.

RE: replacing radio

Just change "like for like." The old radio likely was:
- front spkrs Left and Right channel
- rear spkrs Left and Right channel
- and a sub woofer
If you had a mid output on the old unit, get one on the new unit.
Were you able to control all three sets independently on the old unit?
Pull your old radio and check, then wire a similarly configured new radio in the same manner.
What brand on and model was the old unit? We might be able to look that unit up...
Except for possible wiring options, "the kid in Best Buy" doesn't need to know motorhomes.

RE: Can you use the leveling jacks for tire removal?

Well, I know ours will. All winter long if I want it to, but we travel during the winter...

RE: Windows 7

Rather than simply tell you that we've been running FF on many WIN7 machines for the last 4 months, I was sitting here trying to think of what might be happening on your new WIN7 machine. I'd try another download of FF and BE SURE you are NOT running McAffee (sp?) or Norton AV. Also try OPERA or CHROME just for the heck of it and see how it does.
OPERA is broken now here and doesn't work well since they changed the page layouts here, but it is a very good browser.

RE: Lighted entry handle

Mine was a single LED, not a bulb - it went out a second time in about a year - I took one of those cheap 9 led flashlight apart and it fit perfectly as an assembly - soldered 2 leads to it, re-installed the resistor, now I have 9 LED's it has to burn out before I should have to change it again
- to get the assembly out of the flashlight, just drill a hole in the lens, hook it with a tough piece of bent wire, and pull the lens out - falls out of the flashlight after that - it was a perfect replacement for the entire old assembly and it cost me $2.00 for the whole 9 LED flashlight - it was costing me more than that for the single, high intensity LED's - interestingly, the light yield is only a bit brighter - it's an absolutely perfect replacement
- I replaced the 1/4 watt resistor with a 1/2 watt only because I'm a bit anal - :)
It is absolutely no problem to access on our motorhome (just don't drop "any of the shiny parts" once all the screws are removed!) :)
Oh, and it's easy to strip the screw holes in the fiberglass on some coaches, so "go easy" on re-assembly
once re-assembled, tape it off and seal around the edges with some type of clear sealant - you can't see it on ours, but it's there - there was a bit of blistering starting behind our light handle, in the fiberglass, from moisture

RE: HELP - Im stranded!

I'd say it's a valve or you shouldn't be holding air pressure. Had a bag burst or a line come off, you'd have a tough time holding pressure at 100 pounds. The only other option I can think of is a cut and then pinched shut line (not likely) or the hardware holding the sensor came loose.

RE: Smart Energy Mgt System in Monaco MH

dllfo . . .
Are you sure it doesn't indicate current when on 30 amps? The reason I ask, is ours ONLY indicates current on 30 amps. It simply "indicates" when we're on 50 amps (or the generator) and doesn't show actually amperage, UNLESS, we are on a 30 amp feed. Admittedly, ours is a different coach builder and may have a different system, but many different builders use the same EMS.
Ours doesn't indicate current "level" when on 50 amps.

RE: Mobile Weather Radios for Vehicles?

We have 3 or 4 in various things in the vehicle, but there is one built in to the factory installed CB, IPHONE app, another portable radio, forget where the other one is at the moment, but I think it's in the ceiling projector clock radio

RE: Ford recall on cruise control

Same for us on time, just drove in and drove out in 10 or so minutes. It took them longer to write it up. I didn't even leave the service writer bay. Call some of the smaller dealers around you.
I just kept hooking it back up each morning until they got the part. I unhooked it at the end of the day.

RE: Technical Tips Column???

Another no vote!
I don't know how to tell you this, but you/we don't get a vote.
Those of us using the latest version of OPERA really see screwed up pages. (well, at least on my WIN7 machines) I have no idea what all has been done, but whether we like it or not is NOT an issue.

RE: Technical Tips Column???

If you're using Firefox, get the Adblock Plus add-on. What a difference. If you hadn't mentioned the Tips feature, I wouldn't have noticed. Other than the heading, that area is blank on my screen.
Eycom . . .
This is just WAY too cool! I don't really care too much about this site, but it did "chop it out" as soon as I applied the filter and refreshed the page.
I've got one site that is driving me crazy. PERFECT there...

RE: tires

I'd never consider "not balancing" the tires. Our Revolution has stick on weights on both the inside and outside of the tires. (and a good bit of weight at that) I have never "heard of" what you were told at Peterbuilt. It sounds something more than a little stupid to me. What does the position of an unbalanced tires with relation to a "hopefully" balanced rim have to do with balance? I understand there is a lot of weight on the tires, but they need to be balanced for best ride.

RE: Does a digital thermostat cause more cycling of furnace?

It might cycle more often, but it also might not have to. Even mechanical thermostats "might" be able to be adjusted to cycle more frequently. It depends on whether the thermostat has an "anticipator" and then how that might be adjusted.

RE: LCD TV

Strapped...The inertia of even one severe braking action can snap the thing in half. Even a minor accident, depending on how it oriented, may also snap it.
I'm not saying it won't "ride" there under the best of conditions, it's the anomalies, the unexpected that might be more likely to get ya.
They simply are seldom made to accommodate ANY kind of torque or leverage.

RE: I want to install switches to control speakers

I agree...I wouldn't even try to re-invent the wheel and just purchase a speaker selector switch. I doubt it's going to matter much, but you might find the volumes levels different if you have 4 ohm and 8 ohm sets. Might consider a selector switch with volume controls. This is just one example. You can probably find one cheaper. That was just one we've used before that worked well.
Another one, "cheaper," but of unknown quality.
