RE: Generator Enclosure Design

Are you running the 12v fan and noise maker off of batteries then? How are you plugging those in? None of my plug-in's in the trailer work unless I have power to them. (ie no outlets are live off my trailer batteries) since you don't list what type or model of RV, can't say if you have an inverter or any 12v cig lighter outlets in yours. many of us put in a 12v outlet to power 12v items like a 12v fan. or we install an inverter to run things like a tv, dvd or regular fan. i just hard-wired a 400w inverter in my HTT, to run the tv, dvd and to charge up electronic items. my HTT doesn't have any 12v outlets. if you have a 12v outlet, you can use it to run a 12v fan or plug a simple inverter in it to run your noise machine. i do have a dual battery setup, since i dry camp nearly all the time. Thanks. I'll look into an inverter and see what I can get rigged up. Thanks for the input!

RE: Generator Enclosure Design

Great points Adam 12. Some of the issue is noise for me vs my neighbors. Kids won't sleep at night without noise 'machine' so I run it all night and would feel better if it was more quite. How do you get your RV cord all the way to your truck? Seems like the distance is pretty long for the standard cord length. There isn't a way to get your receps to run off battery is there?

Towing mirrors

Is there a 'proper' place in RV.net to post 'wanted/sales' of RV stuff?

Generator Enclosure Design

I have two Honda 2000's (which I love by the way)...but when I'm in a camp ground with a lot of tent campers, they are still pretty loud even with them being as quite as they are. Does anyone have a design to build a sound enclosure around one of them to help cut the sound down even more?

triple tow w/ travel trailer

Regardless of the technical difference between double/triple tow, I'm trying to find on the web what Colorado law states about towing a trailer behind a travel trailer in Colorado. Does anyone have a link? My understanding is that you can't tow anything behind a TT....it has to be a fifth-wheel trailer????? I'm wanting to get a small ATV trailer and tow it behind by TT. Thanks for the help!

RE: Ford EcoBoost MPG

averaging 70? That means to me you were towing faster than that at times. Slow down to 60 and see how you do. Speed or economy, pick one, not both. Even eightball is reporting his mpg @ 55mph. If he checked his numbers @ 70+, I bet they will be lower. I was at max of 70....sorry. 65 wasn't any better, I tried it. I can't tell that I loose any power in the mountains....but I've only been up to around 8000 feet so far

RE: Ford EcoBoost MPG

8-10mpg is pretty much the norm for all gassers. Too many factors to say one is getting worse or better than another. How big, wide, tall or heavy is the TT? What tires, gears, fuel quality, elevation, road conditions or wind all come into play. Just because one EB gets 10 and one gets 8.5 doesn't mean somethings wrong with the one that gets 8.5. Frankly if you wanted better mpg either get a low profile TT or get a diesel. Exactly. Anyone who sees the ecoboost advertisements and reads 22MPG while towing needs to get their eyes checked. OP also didn't state 4x4 or 4x2, which makes at least a 1 MPG difference. It's all in the details, and nobody wants to pay any attention to the details. 4x4. My "hope" was 20mpg not towing, and 10-12mpg towing. Would you agree that a 10mpg drop seems like a lot though? (18 to 8mpg)

RE: Ford EcoBoost MPG

What towing speeds? I can get about 10mpg at 62mpg and 8mpg at 75mph. When you have a capable enough truck, it becomes difficult to keep the speeds low. I also would lock out 6th gear. Are you using tow/haul mode? I was towing about 70mph average. Most of the time it was in 5th gear at 2,100rpm. I did not lock out 6th gear. After reading many of the posts, I had my tire pressure at 35psi. My max pressure on my tires is 44. I'm wondering if my MPG is hurting because Ford put a set of range C tires on my truck for a smooth ride, but don't help me out very much with towing.....???
