RE: Wisconsin Dells -June

Whenever we visit the Dells, I like to stay at Devil’s Lake State Park. It is a beautiful campground only 10-15 minutes south of all the attractions. We usually go up to Noah’s Ark and the other attractions and always find it rewarding by staying at Devil’s. It makes little sense to stay at a private campground in the Dells area and pay $50 to $100 per night when you can pay $20 per night with electricity at Devil’s. All that money that you will save on your camping fees can go towards more souvenirs or gas money. Whatever you choose, I believe that you and your family are going to have a great time. x2

RE: EGT gauge for new silverado diesel

Unless you plan on tuning your Duramax you really don't need one as the factory tuning is conservative in regards to EGT's. The turbo in your truck is actually cooled by coolant and oil so you don't really have to worry about cooling it down. I only let mine cool down if I'm towing really heavy and it's only for a few minutes. That being said, I wanted to monitor my EGT's anyways so I got an Edge Insight CS and installed their pyro in my passenger side manifold. The hardest part of the entire job was routing the wire into the cab (there is a large grommet near the main wire harness that you can pop out and easily run a wire into the cab). Others may chime in and tell you that there is an egt sensor post turbo in your truck, there is. In fact, there are a total of 4 egt sensors in your factory exhaust (used for emissions). The EGT readings off of my post turbo and right at the manifold differ by about 300* during acceleration and about 100* when maintaining speed. Hope that helps.

RE: Did I buy a w/d hitch for nothing?

Getting my popcorn, this should get interesting... http://www.diabetesmine.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/popcorn.jpg

RE: Did I buy a w/d hitch for nothing?

My owners manual for my 3/4 ton states that steer axle load should be brought back to unhitched weight and no more when using w/d.

RE: Change your shocks!

I replaced my shocks on my '11 with 20k on the OEM equipment and was really surprised that after compressing the OEM shocks they didn't rebound for approximately 15 minutes. The Bilstein 5100's that I installed changed my ride drastically.

RE: Did I buy a w/d hitch for nothing?

To the OP, good choice on deciding to use the w/d system, I think you will notice a difference in the overall feel and handling of your rig with it. My combo does not necessitate the use of a w/d system, I have towed both ways and with my combo there is a noticeable difference with and without.

RE: Midwest race track camping

I'm in Sebring, FL now for the 12 Hours of Sebring, another great ALMS race. This tracks a long way from WI though! Cheaper to fly down and rent an RV than spend the time and fuel on driving down.

RE: Midwest race track camping

I know this is an older thread, but I camp at RA every year and have been doing so for nearly a decade; I am a huge ALMS fan. It is a great track to camp at as there is plenty of room and all different types of people who come. My group has made tons of new friends over the years and I strongly suggest that you check it out.

RE: LML 3500HD Dually - Nor-Cal Nick’s Hauler Project

Excited to see your lml build, your lmm looked mean (saw it on diesel place). Also, I bought my bilsteins from your shop and couldn't be happier. Keep up the good work Nick!

RE: 2013 GMC 3500 Dual Cam Setup

Easiest way to think about is that you want your front axle weights the same hitched as unhitched. You don't want to ride on the jounce bumpers in front or you will have an awful ride. The rear springs are stout on those trucks and they can take the weight without w/d but to keep good traction for heavy braking of high speed emergency maneuvering you don't want to lessen the weight on your steer axle.

RE: Travel Trailer Caught Fire (photo)

That is an older Jayco with a front curbside kitchen, 322FKS if memory serves me correctly and it looks to be between a 93-97. The bathroom is in the center and then bedroom is in the rear. The slide contains a couch and dinette or freestanding chairs and table. To the OP - would really like to know what started the fire, please keep us updated.

RE: Milwaukee RV show

I went to the show on Friday afternoon and almost nobody was there. I was able to get in every unit that I wanted without waiting. I have found that an inclined negotiator who doesn't let emotion get in the way can get a much better deal than any 'show' pricing. On a side-note, I walked past a salesperson who was explaining to a guy that he could use his 1/2 ton to tow a massive 5er because it was 2 wheel drive and they could tow more than 4 wheel drive trucks. The 5er was too large for my 3/4 ton. I couldn't help but laugh when I heard it.

RE: Vintage Spartan and tow vehicle photo

The fact that y'all KNOW what that is, what movie it was in, and how much power the vehicles had is remarkable. It also shows me how old you are!!! :-P I'm one of the youngsters in my crowd. My friends could tell you all about the cars (and tractors) they were driving as teens in the late 1930's. I must be the puppy around this forum, at 27. I have seen the movie and I'm 29! I remember watching it with my parents when I was pretty young.

RE: Weather Tech

Ordered them before my truck was built, put them in with 7 miles on the odometer and would do it all over again.

RE: honda eu3000 doesn't start in cold weather

Wow, I change the oil and spark plug every spring. The battery is just a small lawnmower style battery that should be available anywhere batteries are sold.

RE: honda eu3000 doesn't start in cold weather

I run mine once a month under load to move some fuel and also to exercise it and have never had a problem when it gets below freezing. I use the key start and have never used the pull start, but I don't think that would make a difference.
