RE: Old Coleman Picnic Propane Camp Stove

If it's a "5402" like the one at this link, it takes the old "ball-to-needle"-type propane bottle, see below. They don't make them anymore...I have no idea if/how one might go about adapting the stove to the screw-on fitting now in use/available.

There's a little info re. the original canister at this link.
I still have the Hank Roberts stove! gosh they were great and so lightweight. I carried on when we hiked the Appalachian Trail during the summer. thanks for the memories! soryy to hear they don't make these style cans anymore.

RE: Cold weather camping

RV antifreeze or a handful of water softener salt in each one will keep the holding tanks from freezing. We use the Thermofoil on our windows to provide more insulation. At night, leave you cupboard or floor doors open so heat can reach the water lines. Remember to leave a small vent for condensation to escape.

RE: Making windshield solar shades

I bought a roll of the TechFoil insulating foil bubble wrap. cut it to fit with excess over all the windows inside, and attached with velcro patches. Great insulation from cold or heat, excellent privacy too. Best of all cheap :)

RE: Suggestions of places for active hikers to stay in AZ

Sedona has lots of trails. the Secret Wilderness trail is a fave of ours. Also, we have hiked extensively around the Alamo Canyon area of Organ Pipe nat. park. Thats an area of just go climb the nearest mountain as high as you can bushwacking on the rocks. Tomorrow pick another mountain. The Coronado Nat Forest also has some nice trails and a great bird sanctuary.

RE: Old Propane Refrigerator

nope no electric. I'm gonna flip it as mentioned above and clean all the orifices cos it sounds like that's the problem. I wanted to use it as an extra cos it will run off a portable tank.

Old Propane Refrigerator

Hello all...I hope you're having a good week so far.
A friend has offered me a small propane fridge. It's not the usual RV style; no battery needed. Hooks to propane tank, light it,voila. Only the fridge doesn't get as cold as it should. Freezer is great. Is it trash cos too expensive to fix the fridge side or is there an easy solution?
Thanks in advance for any help. :)

RE: DARK Tinted Windows

The dark tinting provides some privacy, but mostly lower costs for AC. Sun reflected away or stopped from entering keeps the coach interior cooler.
