RE: Remote control trailer movers

Never of heard of it until now, look pretty cool though. With my luck, mine would short circuit and I would be running after my RV down the road.

RE: Camping at a CG that is only 20 miles away from our home

Thanks All. I am glad I am not the only "Goofy" one. Looking forward to hitting this park in the near future. Did I mention that it is only $15 per night? http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/village-creek Buy the state park yearly pass and you don't pay "day use fee" on top of camp fee.also when you reserve a site at a Tx State Park you are only reserving a slot and not a specific camp site. Why we prefer the Corps of Engeers parks. We have the yearly park pass. have not tried any COE parks yet, but have done Double Lake Recreation in Coldspring and reall enjoyed it.

RE: New Trailer

I have a 2013 model and we really like it. Ours is a 32 ft. Seems pretty sturdy to us so far.

RE: Small bunkhouse side AC

We had a KZ Escape 19BH that had the same A/C. On a hot Texas day with no shade it may get 78 degrees. On the same hot day with shade you would freeze. Someone mentioned earlier and I was about to do the same before we sold it we needed something bigger), see if you can get a 10,000 or 13,000 BTU and I think you will be fine

RE: RV Security System - TT parked at Storage Place

Drake, your RV must be at the same storage as mine. There was a breakin at our lot. Luckily mine wasn't entered but they attempted to pull down the rear camera by the wire but the wire broke. Mines stored on the east side of Houston. Feel free to send a pm to me if yours is in the same area ,for more info I can't discuss on here. Mine was in Beaumont so it wast the same. There has been a rash of them in this area included some well lit and "secured" places. The manager of the storage facility was really good about everything and worked well with us. Probably will be sending you a PM just to get some more info.

RE: Net help / Ideas from Military Veterans

Wanted to post a follow up to this. I work for the Valero Port Arthur Refinery. We celebrated Veterans Day early this year ( November 8th, 2012) and I chaired the event for the celebration. We asked our employees that were available to come out to our Plant Admin Building and gather by our flag pole. Inside we gathered all of our Veterans and then escorted them out separately n front of the crowd and everyone applauded as they marched out. We had a posting of the colors by the Texas Military Honors Team (a non-profit group that I am involved with)followed by a singer who belted the Star Spangled Banner. The Army Chaplain said a few words and asked for a moment of silence in honor of those who served and never made it home. TAPS played afterwords. We escorted our vets to a luncheon ( our cafeteria decorated patriotically )were kids from a local elementary school read essays on why they are proud of veterans. Artwork from a Special Needs school was displayed prominently throughout the luncheon area. Our Military Honors Team presented us with a plaque to our Refinery Manager for the Support ( our volunteers do a lot with this group) and well as presented a flag in memory and honor of all Veterans who have worked at our refinery ( we are over 100 years old). Our guest speaker, Colonel Albert Nahas, author of Warriors Remembered ( http://warriorsremembered.com, please check out his site, especially if you are a Vietnam Veteran) did an excellent presentation and received a standing ovation from the group. We had purchased several copies of his book prior and gave them out as door prizes.' Our Refinery Manager closed the program by presenting the Wounder Warrior Project with a donation on behalf of our Refinery Veterans. While exiting each veteran was given a commemorative plaque and a hat personalized for the event. I wish you could have been there to join us. I am very proud of the company I work for. Thanks

RE: RV Security System - TT parked at Storage Place

A better deterrent is going to be the answer and I have gotten a few good ideas from this thread. any Travel Trailer can be entered with a pair of tin snips or a brick. I am looking for a new location, but right now that option is not available. Even with the best location, if someone wants in, they are getting in, hence me wanting to out noise makers, visible ID's saying alarms system, maybe they will go to a less enticing target. Thanks all.

Grease the top of the ladder, seeing how he got on the roof to break in through the sky light. Crowbar would of saved him a lot of time. I dont have a ladder on my rv. Sorry bast$$d climbed on the back using my spare tire and the back wall of the storage to scale to the top. Must have been a skinny kid, 2 12 x 12 skylight, any Joe just cant go through it. would have been nice had he fallen off the roof broken both legs and not been able to get away.

RE: RV Security System - TT parked at Storage Place

Looks folks, after years of being in the service, I get your answers. If I had an available option, I would move, right now I don't have that option. My intent right now is to get some noise to wake up management at the facility. Just asking if anyone knows of a system that could be used. Nothing is 100% secure, people rob banks for goodness sake, I am aware that my scenario is not the best to be in.Just build it! You can buy siren's glass breakage detectors, door switches, both wired and wireless. Once upon a time Radio Shack carried everything you need. Cheap car alarms will work too, but you still need to wire it, and it may be allot more complex. A car alarm, that is a hell of a good idea, thanks !!!!!!

RE: RV Security System - TT parked at Storage Place

Alot of the RV Folks are in the same situation - We feel your pain... I like the idea of the silent cell phone alarm but of course it is after the fact so won't stop it. At least you know it did happen for whatever that would do for you. I have my two RV trailers at home and this week with the hurricane SANDY coming in on us I decided to move one of my trailer to the side driveway with close access to the garage door which is on the South side of the house. This will allow me to use the on-board Inverter to help with the house items when we lose the power. This also puts my OFF-ROAD POPUP close the street which bothers me. The only protection I have is a motion detector yard light that comes on. My propane tanks and the battery bank are now in plain view from the roadway which bothers me but what can you do.... Roy Ken Thanks Roy. Appreciate the feedback in lieu of some of the other BS that has been spewed. Being from South Louisiana and now living in Southeast Texas my heart goes out to you folks with the Hurricane, they suck. Godspeed my friend.

RE: RV Security System - TT parked at Storage Place

Just what good would a security system do in a big lot with nobody around to answer the alarm?? They go off after it's already been broken into. Best bet in my opinion is to find a storage facility with more security.. B.O. Really?

RV Security System - TT parked at Storage Place

Received a call today that a couple of TT's were broken into at the storage place, mine was one of them. Thief went through the skylight. They are pulling the video but odds are they will never catch the folks Does anyone know of any RV Security systems that are out there? Please don't tell me this is the reason that you keep your RV stored at your home, I don't have that option. Thanks

RE: Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012

Added some rails to the bunks... and they are easily removable for getting in and out. The fabric is all being changed out to match the red / white / brown so they will match better as we finish up. http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr43/maish67/chain%20o%20lakes%2012/picture397Medium.jpg http://i468.photobucket.com/albums/rr43/maish67/chain%20o%20lakes%2012/picture391Medium.jpg Did that ladder come with the TT? That looks like perfect size and thinking about building one.

2012 F250 6.2L V8 - Gas- Dino or Syntehic Oil - WWYD?

Hi folks. I just recently bought a F250 6.2L Gasser (please don't start the gas vs diesel, I am quite happy with my purchase) and my first oil change is due at approx 7500 miles. Thinking about going using synthetic oil in lieu of Dino oil. My wifes cars have always called for synthetic but oil but I always let the dealer mess with it. I really dont know a whole heck of a lot about syntehic but I hear it is the bees knees. Would appreciate any advice anyone wants to throw my way on the stuff. I have always used dino oil on my vehicles and never had an issue. We are weekend warriors when it comes to rv'ing and get out about 6 -8 times a year normally no more then 300 miles one way. I am a little embarrassed that I don't know more as I am actually fair mechanically inclined. Thanks again.

RE: Frequent Camper, First Disney Trip - Advise Suggested!

We have decided to take a week and head down to Disney for Thanksgiving. We are frequent campers and have taken many long trips but we have yet to make it to Disney. Can you "DIZ-KNEE" experts chime in with some help. Is it best to buy a package from Disney that includes the site and the park passes or purchase separately? My thought is that you may find the tickets cheaper at AAA or similar? Thoughts? And if the package is the way to go for the tickets and camping, what about a meal plan? Usually when we camp, we eat almost all of our meals in the camper, but in this case the camper is just the place to sleep. Again your thoughts or input is appreciated. If you PM your email account, I can send you a document that we put together that will probably be helpful to you. We have made over 25 trips and really enjoy the place, but it can get pricey

RE: DIY Outdoor Entertainment Center ???

I would check Amazon, someone was mentioning the other day that there was some good deals on projectors. By the way, when you get it set up, please invite me and my family over to watch, we will bring the popcorn and we can be "sinners" together for watching TV outside with our kids in a campground. I am wondering what CG many of the folks who are complaining about are staying at, if you are that close to the next camper, you are not camping, you are staying in a parking lot. Funny you should mention what types of CG's people are staying at that complain. In all the CG's we stayed at over the years whether tenting or TT'ing, close or far apart we have never seen anyone watching TV. We saw one guy in a huge motorhome in a high end RV park watching TV once and when we walked by you couldn't hear it. We camp in state parks, forest service and Rv parks. I'm just wondering why it's important to you that other people around you need to tolerate your noise. If I'm 10-15' away from my neighbor then I expect to hear them, but when a CG neighbor is 150-250' away and I can hear their music on their outdside TT speakers then thats too loud IMO. It's just rude and as far as I'm concerned that person is wrong. It seems to always be about the me me me thing. No consideration for other peoples space. Same as kids driving down the street with their car stereos cranked. Time to grow up. Not once did I say I condone being rude or inconsiderate with watching the TV or a movie outside with the volume turned up where people cant hear them self think. As a matter of fact, both my wife and I go to the extra mile to make sure we and our little one are being respectful of others. With that being said, we will not stop from enjoying life because some lonely, bitter, people have nothing better to do then b***h abut other people enjoying theirs. We just got back from a nice trip in west Texas where we did a bunch of hiking, swimming in a river and the end of the day after bath time, enjoyed a great movie together. Had it not been raining, we every well may have enjoyed it outdoors hooked up to our a/v jack on our RV. I am quite sure our neighbors all around us would not have minded as the night prior, they were outside visiting, laughing, kids were playing, enjoying life. There were folks camping from tents to To Haulers to Motor Homes all having a great time. Heck even the Park Host was cutting up with everybody. OMG, the world must have been coming to an end. Had we set up the Movie we would have probably invited them over and we would have had a grand old time I'll bet. Everyone except the one hermit who thinks having fun is evil and would have complained the whole time. God forbid people enjoy them self after the sun goes down. So to rephrase your question toward me pal, why should I tolerate people such as your self who hate that many have a passion for life and just because you do something different, we should we quit doing what we do? Seems that it is time for others to grow up as well in lieu of just growing old. Hope to see you in a CG soon,I will be the guy with the family enjoying ourself. Maybe I see you and can offer you a beer and some good Cajun food and convince you that having fun and living life is a good thing. Godspeed until then my friend.

RE: DIY Outdoor Entertainment Center ???

Once again I find myself reading a thread where the intolerance of others really shines through. Why some of you people choose a lifestyle where you're forced to be around strangers is beyond me.:h And, once again, im left asking myself this question: Why do these people even camp in a campground when the slightest little noise after quiet time annoys them to the point where they're ready to call the cops!! Sound like a lot could be solved by just staying at home. MHO of course :R Someone earlier mentioned listening to the loons... I have to agree and add that they are all here. If they need that much silence they need to be out in the middle of nowhere by themselves. I understand quiet hours but as much as they may be "annoyed" by the neighbors.. Their whining annoys me. x2
