RE: Long Class A rigs with Trailers - Where do they stay?

I drive a 39' Discovery and tow a car with a trailer for the atv. I use Trailerlife Navigation program and they usually tell you the length of the spaces. I travel mostly out west and have found a lot of parks that can accommodate my 70 ft "train". If not I just unhook the car,if only staying overnight, or if staying longer unhook the trailer too. No problem! Yes In most states out west my length is legal or close to legal and like another poster said if you are not doing anything stupid they will not stop you to check your length. he

RE: 2005 Fleetwood Discovery issues

I have the same rig. Mostly all good. Replaced drivers side slideout motor, repaired door awning, only to have it blown off by a microburst! Microwave replaced, patio awning arm damaged in a freak storm, water line connections to water heater blew off. (all were plastic connections, replaced with ss.) Last one flooded bedroom floor and had to remove carpet. Extended insurance took care of most of the problems. Other than those items it has been a great mh.I feel those items are just part of full time rving. It is a house on wheels! Bought used in 2007 and we full time. Our previous mh was a 2000 Discovery. What caused the loss of power? We just replaced rear tires, front were replaced 2 years ago. Old tires still in good shape.sorry you have had all those problems.

RE: Musings in the middle of the night

Something that has not been mentioned. A time is set to establish when your rental has ended and another day begins. Must have a time set or folks could just stay until 2 or 3pm, use electric, water etc and then leave without paying. I know the time is arbitrary, but a time is needed for legal purposes, even if they do not enforce it. Common sense is to ask at the desk for a later checkout, and if reasonable, they will say sure no problem. All rules whether they are enforced or not are tools to be used if needed in problem cases and each campground uses them as they need to. Image a park with no rules! Those are the parks that I avoid!

RE: Struts to hold bed up for storage

My struts have a piece that moves to the left into a notch. Only meant to help raise the bed. As soon as Loretta gets up I will send via email pics.

RE: Indicator Lights for Tanks

Here is what I do Jim, Set aside once a week to dump black tank. If you are hooked up to sewer, leave your grey tank open. About once a month close grey, let fill up some and then dump. This will flush any material out. Do not forget to leave it open after that. when I flush my black tank, I do the following.Open valve and about 1/2 way through the dump turn on your tank sprayer. After tank empties close valve and let tank fill up with water, then open and dump again. I do this 3 times, then close valve and let sprayer put some water in the tank (1 minute or so )Turn off sprayer and you are done.(if the sprayer is left on for a long period of time the tank will fill up and water will come out the roof vent! Seen it happen) It is important to have plenty of water in the tank at all times. After flushing the toilet let additional water run into tank. And finally, do not trust your lights!Except maybe the fresh water! See ya in June.

RE: Cat C-7 temp level

Mine on a Freightliner chassis 2005 Discovery, runs about a 1/4 inch left of center, on long climbs has gone to red area,(I wasn't paying attention) but with downshifting etc, brought it back down quickly. Am towing a Saturn Vue with an ATV trailer behind the car.

RE: Opinions on 2001 Discovery 37U?

Our first MH was a 2000 37v Discovery. We really liked it. Traded for a 3 slide 2005 Discovery 39s. 330 cat allison tranny etc and really like it. Only minor problems after 10 years o full timing. 4 with the 2000 and 6 with the 2005.

RE: Replacing Couch with TV & Stand??

I have removed both couches. Replaced with 2 recliners on drivers side. Put a window seat bench w/drawers on the passenger side. Took my front tv out and turned that space into a cabinet with shelves. Placed a 37" tv on the window seat, secured it from the back of the tv to the wall. I could not hook it into stereo/speaker system without a lot of trouble, so I have a speaker bar in front of tv. I had a tv in the first bin outside, so the cable and power was there, just had to bring it inside. Works and looks great.

RE: I-PAD

There are many apps like CoPilot live. I use it on my Acer Tablet, which does not use a cell phone plan only wifi. wifi is only needed for maps. CoPilot live downloads the maps so the only connection to wifi needed would be to download the maps and program. There should be a version for Apple. I also have a Verizons and ATt wifi card, I can use, and CoPilot live takes very little off my plan.

RE: tail light problem pulling double

http://www.readybrake.com/state_laws.html I pull double as well. My car is wired direct to the tail and brake lights, so I do not use the cars wiring. I simply tapped into those wires with a pigtail. So my car in the rear has 2 pigtails... 1 for when the car is towing the trailer and one for when the MH is towing all.
