RE: Wanted: Feedback on Gulfstream Conquest

We have a 2012 Gulfstream Conquest 297QBL (I think), we love it. We upgraded from a HTT, so my wife loves the fact of never making beds ever again. She also loves the outside kitchen, we always took a mini fridge with us anyways, just less to pack now. So far, no problems, worked well last year and so far good this year. Any other ?, PM me...

RE: Moving over from Hybrid Forum

Congrats! We also moved from a HTT to a TT, I enjoy that whole back up and level up and just open the door. I do not miss the entire open the bunks, put on the gizmos, make the beds, the worry if it was going to rain our last day... Dan

RE: Storage in small bunkhouse & rear slide TTs

Our good friends just got a rear slide unit, 25 ft, I think. They comnplained about the lack of storage in their rig. We have 3 kids, 1 dog and my wife and I actually have too much storage space in our 30ft bunkhouse. It is nice to have too much space.

RE: Hot water problems

How long did you let the hot water heater run before getting the shower? I find it takes at least 10 to 15 minutes for the hot water to get completely hot. Did you heat the hot water heater running, sounds like jet engine running. I have only dealt with a propane, never really dealt with an electric unit.

upgrading my electric connection

I have the standard flip up and pull out the electric plug to the 30 Amp service. I would like to upgrade to the twist type connector and use my current cord for the wire. Anyone have done this?

RE: Cupboards

Go with paper plates. Not only solves the weight problem, but helps with starting the fire....

Slide Lube / Rubber seal

Hi, When I bought our unit, the sales person told us to buy some RV products, one I remember slide lube and rubber conditioner. Anyone recommend or just use WD40 and Son of a Gun... Thanks in advance.

RE: Need advice for WD/Sway options

I have used the Equal-i-zer hitch for 6 years, never had a problem, if you are having problems setting it up, give them a call and they will walk you thru everything... Great customer service..

RE: TT Newbie has questions, help?

Rule #1, never turn on a water heater unless it is full of water, those heating elements will burn out very quickly if not water is there. Once you connect to the city water part of your camper, I would turn on the hot water till all the air comes out of the line (the 6 gallons) then you are ok to turn on your heater. It typically takes 20 minutes on propane to heat the water up. The water heater will only turn on if you turn the switch on, plus you will have to turn on the propane, not sure how the electric ones work (never had one) I always dump the water before I leave the camp site, why tug an extra 48 lbs (6 gallons at 8 lbs each). I typically drain all water before we leave. When we 1st started camping, I would always turn on the gas when I needed it, then turn it off when I didn't. Anymore, I just simply leave it on anymore... Dan

RE: Adding a receiver hitch

Remember to take out your sewer hose before you weld supports to your bumper to help with the "bouncing" of hte bikes on the bike rack.

RE: smallest rv with fullsize outdoor kitchen?

At the Greater Philly RV Show, I saw some 26-27 footers with the "full size" outside kitchen. I guess you mean, 4.1 cu ft fridge, sink, pull out stove top and counter space. I have seen some small kitchen with only a very small fridge....

RE: Peeking into this forum... Don't tell anyone...

I don't miss the whole rainy day shutdowns, and hten having to setup at the house to try out the ends. You'll have more of a camping season, I would never considered camping in March in our HTT. Plus, you'll never have to move the mattress again.... And not to forgot, the canvas ends are nice, but one loud/noisy neighbor kills that, I have never heard anything inside our new unit. Enjoy...

RE: Roof Rack ?

THanks for the input. Where did you buy them? I checked some local stores and no one seemed to carry anything like this, Dicks, Wal-mart even Cabela's. THnaks so much!

RE: Another towing issue.....

Are you sure your tow rating is 9500? I looked at some 2011/2012 1500's and they all stated 7200 with no slide. Becareful, you'll have your family in your truck and you need to stop and be able to control the 30ft behind you. I opted for the 2500 and will always own a 2500 now.

Roof Rack ?

Hi, I have a Chevy Silverado 2500 HD of course I didn't get a roof rack on it. I opted to get a kayak and have been wanting to get a roof rack with a bike rack on it, so I can put the two bikes on the roof, and maybe the kayak. I found two companies that sell roof racks that connect to your drip edge and door jam. Rhino Rack and Yakima. Anyone have any recommedations or suggestions. Thanks in advance. Dan

RE: 1st Buyer looking for a travel trailer

The best thing to do is to go to a RV Show or a dealership and check out the rigs, see what layout works for your family. We looked for two years before we decided on a rig. Towing, trust me, check your owners manual, RV dealerships will lie to , stating a WDH will add to your towing capacity, which is so wrong. Remember it is your family in the truck and you need to be able to stop and control your truck pulling the 30ft behind you.

RE: over 30ft too long?

Trust me with 3 kids and one rainy day, 30ft is sometimes too small. 40 footers maybe? lol

RE: Hitch ?

Well when we pulled up to the RV Dealership and the wind started. Attached the camper with just the ball and safety chains and away we went. The wind was pushing us a little. But taking it slow, we got home and the next day the Equalier Hitch came and never had to drive it like that again! I wouldn't recommend it but maybe for very short trips.
