RE: which is the best???

Air pressure is one of the best things you can do. You did not say which chassis it is riding on.

RE: Onan Generator Filters

I use to only use Fleetguards ( makes onan filter) or the onan brand but have started using the wix filter as it is a quality filter and I only have to go around the corner to get it; O'Rielys sales Wix's also. But I would stay with the Wix's or Fleetguard, as some brands do use inferior paper and valves. And just for everyones info not all Napa filters are made by Wix it has to be their gold series

RE: Radiators in Diesel Pushers; Side vs Rear, and MPG

I have had both one rear and two side radiators. I much perfer the side radiator for no other then just the ablity to get to the engine. I did get better milage out of the rear radiator but I feel it had more to do with weight then where the radiator was located. Most side radiator units are heavier and little more high end so they have more opitions and tend to weigh more. The only way you could ever make a comparsion is to have the same coach and weight with one has a side and one a rear which I don't think will be possible.

RE: Stiff steering on Ford Chassis

put the damper back on. It will help keep you going straight in a blow out or ruts in the road. My 99 chassis F53 had very tight steering I believe it is suppose to be that way unless it has just started tighting up on you. I would take it to a Ford dealer not rv.

RE: Safari vs Fleetwood

I had an American (nice coach) and I have a Windsor(by Monaco) Both are nice but the roadmaster chassis is far superior and the build materials in the Monaco are very high quality. If I were buying again it would be a Monaco.

RE: Need input on 06 Phaeton

The tiffins have good customer service but so does Monaco and with them being owned by navistar I see better things coming. I would compare them closely. I have never been a big fan of the tiffins for many reasons but they are good. I like the monaco products better and I feel Monaco puts higher quality items in their units then most. Also the eight air bag chassis by roadmaster is the best handling that I have owned and I have had the freightliner and spartan.

RE: Still having handling issues

What is the wheel base and what pressure are you trying to run in your tires. Also how long have you been driving a class A or this coach. It may be that you are not getting use to yet. They are going to move somewhat but are you over reacting instead of making small corrections.

i just want to add I hate it to. I had a bra on my other one and would rather deal with that any day over this piece of scratched plastic. As a matter of fact I would rather have the rock chips.

RE: Damon Motor Coaches Any Good

WIth it being used it is really more important the condition than the brand. At this point most anything to do with build quality is alway been fixed or broke. Run the slide outs several times in and out to make they work well and stand inside while doing it and then have some one else do the switch while you stand out side. I had and Escaper years ago it was a good coach, but not as well insulalated as the others I have had. Also with the double slides make sure of the weight carrying to base weight differance, some of the earlier dual slide gas coaches did not have a lot of CCC.

Just pick it up and use it till the parts come in. The od. Part is not going to keep it from being able to use and enjoy the camping season

RE: 1996 Fleetwood American Dream

We had a 1998 Dream When we traded it off we had 85,000 miles on it and the interior still looked new and so did the exterior other then a few rock chips. These have full body paint which makes it easy to care for. I did have to do some work like replace radiator and intercooler but I did it myself so it was not to bad and my hydrulic pump went out but that could happen with any of them. but other then that it was very well made. Unlike an Escaper we owned it was very well insulated and easy to cool and heat.

RE: Damon Escaper, 2000

Had a 2000 Escaper a while back with a 300 cat on a freightliner it was a nice coach. But it had single pane windows and did not seem well insulated and had a hard time keeping it cool inside. But on the plus side it did every thing else right and worked well for us and returned the best milege of any I have owned. Also I will add at night time the headlights where way to small for the coach and was a little more difficult to see the road at night then most. If you would like to know more just send me email.

RE: Niagara Falls

You must have a pass port they put our whole family through customs 5 kids two years ago because we did not have passports but we have them now. ( The kids thought it was cool but what a hassle for us). And by the way you will love the falls and Bar Harbour it was one of our favorite trips.

My rig had the exhaust leak that is typical for the Ford Big Block. In my case though it is the flange on the head that is broken off. Now I have to pull the damn heads to fix an exhaust leak that should cost $200 to repair. Turns out that Ford does not make the heads anymore and the best price I can find on a rebuilt set from Ford is $1,800 each!!! I can buy a long-block for $2,300 from Ford.
After I sold the last Ford I promised myself I would never buy one again. Years passed and I kind of forgot the pain these things can inflict. I mellowed, told myself that Ford was good, but alas they are still the evil money-suckers I remember from days of yore.
The repair estimate to pull the heads and replace with an after market set is $3,800. On this forum you guys talk about broken exhaust studs...if that is all I had to pay for I would feel blessed.
So, instead of fixing it with replacement parts I am taking the offending head to a machine shop who thinks they can fix it.
Thanks for nothing Ford!
Wow what a statement. Bashing a a vehicle after it is completely used by over ten years. I have bought a litle over 30 fords or lincolns new over the last twenty or so years and basically have never had any issue and if there was any it was covered under warranty and one of those was Ford motor home chassis. And some of those I have put over 250,000 miles on. So if you want to bash something don't wait till it's wore out to do so.
No I meant to say if it is fiften years old where can you complain And even if a warranty had paid for it I was not complaining about a vehicle that is over ten years old I don't think that would be Ford's fault or for that fact any maker.
