RE: 5.9 to 6.7 Big Differeance

We had a 2006 5.9 and now own a 2008 6.7. No problems as of yet, no codes, or emission problems. You do have to change the oil more often. As far as snappy power I don't notice a difference between the two. The 6.7 accelerates much better when towing our fiver. It does not downshift on inclines nearly as much as the 5.9. The exhaust brake and six speed transmission is a HUGE improvement over any of the previous transmissions. They really save on your brake pads. The 6.7 has more power for passing than our 2006 5.9 had ... it's geared better. No regrets on my purchase at all. I could care less about the black smoke. Actually my wife really likes the 6.7 as it doesn't "stink" like all the other Cummins. She is 5.2" and drives the dually like a pro.

RE: 2008 Montana

We have 2009 Montana. Our's does the same thing. This has been discussed many times on the MOC forum. http://www.montanaowners.com/index.html I have yet to hear of a fix for this. We have 3665RE.Some talk is there is a vent in the floor very near the thermostat that tricks it to thinking the trailer is heated. Some claim if you cover that vent it helps. I just turn on the fireplace and use an oil filled radiator for heat. The dealer is a waste of time. They couldn't even install a door lock properly. Now ours is also a digital thermostat. From all I've read the digital might be a problem

RE: Troubles with Bighorn

We have a 2009 Montana.Same as you ... in the shop more than 50% this first year. In right now ... 4 weeks and still waiting. Parts on order. The 3rd microwave, slide out issues, new fireplace, slideout seal,TV raising remote, remote stabilizer jack problems, stove pilot light won't stay lit,and other issues. There is zero quality control on the products they assemble these trailers with.People say you can't blame the manufacture. I don't buy it.If cars were built like that nobody would buy them. It doesn't matter what you buy ... they all purchase from the same vendors.

RE: Dual & Concurrent Gas Regulator Failures

We purchased a 3665 re Montana last november. The first main regulator failed before our first trip while in the drive loading up. Missed trip. After repair and one trip the second regulator failed. I blame this on lack of quality control. Until manufactures start holding their vendors accountable and demand better product we will continue to have trailers manufactured by materials purchased from the lowest bidders. The second regulator was a different type than the first.Propane blowing right out the sight glass.Montana refused (trailer still under warranty)to fill the tank that was emptied due to the faulty regulator.Good thing there was no explosion.

RE: Question for Montana 5th wheel

This is sad. You'd think the dealer would notify a new buyer of it's location. I had the same issue on mine. Driver side between and above the wheels. They might need to crawl under the slide to get to it. Really crappy set-up

RE: OK DODGE GUYS,TRUCK QUESTION!!

The pin weight of the trailer is what you need to be concerned with. Adding springs or air bags does not increase the load capacity. It could be within the capacity of the 2500 without doing anything.

RE: Does Anyone Who Has Actually Driven One, Dislike the Tundra?

I'm well aware of the legions of Tundra disdain. I may be partially responsible because I had the audacity to report that I exceeded my rear axle rating with a big 5th wheel, something evidently only the domestic pickup trucks are capable of doing. Not enjoining a flamefest here, and blt2ski I'm sorry if my posts dramastically increase your workload, but I'm curious if the lack of respect is predominantly due to lack of exposure, fear of something different, is it only because of one individual who expressed his experience and there were other Tundra drivers who shared his opinion, or what? Honestly, if you want to flame me for starting this topic, it doesn't bother me and if it makes you feel better, do whatever, but I still don't get the "us vs them" mentality and not degenerate into whatever seems to happen whenever the word "Tundra" shows up in the title of a thread. Thanks for being diplomatic, courteous, and polite; I'll try to do the same. What's in it for you? Why don't you change your name to foreign made ... you know ... something that fits your persona a bit better. Your posts really are getting tiresome.

RE: Michigan in fall

Some of the most beautiful colors in lower Michigan are on the west side of the state the first 3 weeks of October. Peak in Petosky,Harbor Springs,Leelanau Penninsula,Traverse City. Days can be very comfortable to cool. Heat needed at night. This is one of our favorite time of the year to camp.Perfect for a campfire at night. KOA in Petosky is a great place and discounted as well as most campgrounds during those times.Another very nice camp ground is Wild Cherry in the Leelanau Penninsula near Traverse City. If you like wine there are dozens of winery's for wine tasting in the Traverse City area. Old Fish Town. Your really missing some of the best peak colors thinking it might be to wintery. If you don't live here you don't know what your missing !!

RE: Emblems peeling off

Our new 2009 Montana 3665RE is already peeling. We have not even used it yet. It is a known issue on Montana's. Doesn't seem like they have resolved it yet.

RE: 2007 Tundra Tow Vehicle with 34 foot trailer: the numbers.

Aww c'mon guys admit it what really bugs you is I'm richer, smarter, and better looking than you. Plus I've got a 12" member. Well why don't you put your 12" member where the sun don't shine cause we really don't care for your arrogance, ignorance and stupidity. Richer ... you would drive a 3/4 or 1 ton because you could afford it. You have bragged about not wasting the extra cash as other have to be within their weight capacity. Richer ... naaa Stupid ... uhm ... your the one over weight, not me. Better looking ... maybe, don't know, who cares? Anyone? What a waste of time!

RE: Gallley drain valve on a 2004 Montana 2980RL

Just purchased this fifth wheel and thought the kitchen drain was clogged because it backed up into the sink. The monitor for the tanks shows the grey water empty after dumping but the galley still shows full. I'm assuming there is a separate holding tank for the galley but how do you empty it? Other fifth wheelers have told me that they should all be together. When I look at the manual for this model it only reads that there maybe 4 tanks but does not go into detail on were the drain valves are. The grey and black tank valves are side by side in the front of the trailer but all I can see from the back of the trailer were the galley tank has to be is a black drain pipe running to the dump outlet. Need your help in Arkansas. Thanks There is a third drain valve on the left side between and slightly above the tires Yup.Found this out on our new Montana as well. Driver side, probably under the slide behind and between the tires. Great place to put one !! I found our when I was lubing the slides.

RE: Would you by a Fleetwood fiver??

Dean VP, I have to go with the other poster. Your smug remarks are not appreaciated and smack of someone just trying to stir the pot. Blah blah blah. That's what I hear when you post. Exactly ... it's usually him and the individual from Texas who just happens to work at a dealer who sell Heartlands ... tag teaming. He has a opinion ... which is just that ...his. I can personally tell you he doesn't know what he's talking about. Had both.

RE: Ford or Dodge Opinions

I'm not trying to dig Chrysler's hole any deeper, but you might want to consider where Dodge will be in a couple years, compared to the Ford. Both are good trucks, and will do what you want. I'd go for the better deal, and hope for the best! Pappy is right if Dodge is closing some are most of there Dealers and you break down on the road, Oh Oh! your in troible, same with GMC and Chevy .Go with the 350 Ford Dually . The Reliability factor of the Ford should be considered too! ... Dock My dodge never left me stranded. Some people have more experience then others :B.Anybody stranded could be in trouble. But considering Chrysler put my brother out of a job ... I'd consider a Ford "if" I was ever going to buy another Truck. The 2007.5 and newer dodge diesels are a great engine and trans setup. You won't regret it. And the deals would be great.

RE: Gas station etiquette

I'd walk up and ask them if they planned to move or continue to sit there and take up space. If they planned to stay, I'd pull to within a few feet leaving the engine running...can ya feel the heat ( making sure they have no room to back up). Pull out my lawn chairs from the fiver, grab a snack and beverage or two, then setup right in front of their vehicle with my chairs facing them. Then I'd explain I'm in no hurry either I have all day.

RE: Batteries Going Dead on Shore Power!

We had the same problem on our last fifth wheel. The convertor went bad. It was a brand new camper.

fan noise - Dometic refridgerator

We are finally getting to check out our new Montana 3665RE we purchased last fall. All seems well except for one water line needing tightening. However there is a small fan at the top of the outside fridge vent (behind it) just under the fins at the top (back of fridge). The fridge vents through the side of the slide out instead of the roof as in most RV's. This fan has been running all day and is quite annoying. Is this normal? When I took the vent cover off for a few minutes for a look ... it stopped after a minute or so. After the cover was put back on it started again and has not stopped. If it is really not necessary I will just disconnect it. Any ideas.

RE: 2007 Tundra Tow Vehicle with 34 foot trailer: the numbers.

It would be worthwhile to take a 2009 F-250 and a 5.7 Tundra, hook the same 10 K trailer up behind them both, get them up to 60 MPH, hit the brakes, and see which one stops earlier. We already know which truck would win the acceleration test, so no point redoing that. Or maybe set up a slalom course, cones to go through? See how tightly the cones can be spaced and still go through at, say 50 MPH. Anyone up for it? We'd have to put some money on it, to make it worthwhile. Sure, something might break, but that would be a fun test down at the old drag strip :D I thought you play it safe? Or do just like pulling our chain? Some of that information was posted in another post. The Tundra swayed all over the road ... like a fish out of water. Worse than any of the Big Three. Why don't you load up a backpack with a 75 lbs of weight and strap it to your back. Go run around the block every night and then tell us it won't have any affect on your body over time. Your simply daring something to happen. Wait long enough ... it will. Trying to impress us with your arrogance isn't earning you any points. Do the right thing and get a truck rated to pull what your throwing at it. Anything less is simply a gamble. I've had 6 Big Three trucks. Never have I experienced the problems you claim to have had. You got a lemon ... it happens to all brands.
