RE: Newbie question about towing with Ford Explorer

I tow with an expedition (295 tt) and have had no problems in about 30,000 miles of towing. I used to have an explorer and went up to the expedition for comfort and ease of towing. get good weight distrbution hitch and sway control in any case. My expy gets about 9 mpg towing and i doubt your explorer will get much more. also cost of expy should not be more than the explorer it you shop around. I didnt buy new got one off lease , two years old with 25000 miles and took extended waranty with ford. ps i didnt get four wheel drive because i didnt feel i needed it and not having it adds 500 lb to the permited towing weight. I found out that if you dont use your four wheel drive at least once a month to keep it lubed, you will probably have a motor failure on it sooner rather than later. less maintenance and probably a little better gas milage. also the man who takes care of my transmission told me to always tow out of overdrive. gas mileage is not much different and it will be easier on the transmission, side benefit out of overdrive , engine will help brake going down hill. get a transmission temperature guage installed too, you will not regret it.

RE: Anyone tried the

second quick answer to your question. you do not need a cradlepoint for this mifi. merely turn it on and download the access program and go. it has its own telephone number built in,

RE: Anyone tried the

I have a verizon mifi2200 and love it. i use it instead of a router. It will handle 5 devices at once. I keep it plugged in to my tower with a usb cord that came with it and use my laptop wifi. works well. so good that i canceled my other internet. no problem with the 5 gb limit unless you download movies or play games on line. Easy to watch your useage also.

RE: Question on Caulk

couple of things 5200 polyurathane caulk from a marine store or sometimes walmart has a generic version. last caulk you will ever need. It takes 24 hours to dry but it sticks tight. I have used it for years on boats to seal the thru hull fittings and seams where leaking. also if you have leaks around windows and other small seam leaks, there is a liquid product called captn tollys creepy crack sealer. it comes out as a liquid, just squirt it on the seams and around the gasket, it will find the leak, go in it and dry to a polimer. I just finished sealing some seams and screw heads on my travel trailer slide because they were leaking. all gone now.

RE: Front window leak on 04 JayFlight

easy fix. go to marine store and but a bottle of cptn tollys creepy crack crawler. squirt it on the suspected area. it will penetrate and seal the area. since it penetrates, it will also tell you where the leak actually is. let dry, then resoak again. might need to do this a couple of times, but leak will disappear for good. I.ve used it for years on boat windows and on my travel trailer slide to seal leaks/ of course if its a big crack, then i use a product called 5200 that is a caulk on it. that stuff reall will hold. we used it in boats to seal the thru hull fittings, and i have used it on my trailer to seal the screws and seams on my silde.

RE: Replacing bathtub / shower faucet question

cnt tell you how to remove it, but i can tell you to go to camping world and invest a little more and get a brass faccet with bigger holoes in it. works wonders for the shower. also get one of those showers that they advertise oxygenic. it makes big difference.

RE: Where do you put your moveables when driving?

i bought some stuff at camping world i believe called quake putty. mearly take a piece of it and flatten it out to cover the bottom area of the stuff that you dont want to move. put it under the bottom next to the table. I,v e had my coffee maker heldf down this way for four years, lamps just as long. works very well. I even use it to hold wires in place with a small glob. when you need to move something pry it loose and remove the quake putty to use again.

RE: Southern Mississippi?

Ive stayed at the campground on hollywood casino in bay st louis. nice park and convenient to beaches. I believe there are still some fema trailers at a lot of the parks in mississippi, and look at the others well because most of them were devestated in the hurricane and although some have recovered others the last time i was in the area(last fall) were not too good.

RE: Replacing Skylight

Sounds like you just need to replace the plastic top if its cracked. These are common at camping world and most rv dealers parts store. you can get a better one that is supposed to last a lifetime for under 20.00 and replace it in a couple of hours or less if you are handy. easy fix. I did one of mine after a limb fell and hit it.

RE: Replacing water damaged floor

I used a product called git rot from marine store on my boat many times to harden rotted places. also have used product from elmers glue people that you can find in lowes hrdware or home depot. I have been doing some work on rotted wood places around the house using the elmers product and then filling it with bondo (not the automotive stuff, but a product that i buy at lowes hardware. it will make a permanent fix and can be sanded smooth works well.

RE: CGs along I-77 in WV or VA?

I have camped at ft chiswell twice in the last 4 months (comming and going from the midwest). ok overnight stop. I didnt find anything that i would want to stay at in wva. There is a campground in beckley at the coal mine demonstration site, but i will not try that again. road up to the campground is very steep and narrow and has a very sharp and steep turn about 1/2 way up. Watch I-77 in wva, I found it to be a little on the rough side, and tolls have almost doubled last month.

RE: MiFi arrived

Ive been using my mifi for a month and love it. there is a post on page one of this forum labeled mifi for two that has some threads about boosting mifi signal that look good to me. i dont have to boost at home, but am looking for on the road use. i really dont anticipate much of a problem as my verizon phone seldom doesnt have a signal and the mifi should be as good.

RE: Mi-Fi for two?

I have a mifi and love it. can get 5 computers at once. I havent tried an external antana yet but it looks like wilson has a booster that doesnt need to be attached to the mifi and should work.

RE: Niagra Falls

ronnie we went to niagra two years ago. i went up i-95 to just south of fredericksburg, then up 17 to i 81. took i 81 to harrisburg pa.then I took a scenic route up to new york and stayed at bath at hickory hill cmpground. then up to i 90 at rochester from there to niagra. rolled across the bridge into canada and through customs no problems. we stayed at jellystone park on the canadian side. park was nice and had lots for kids to do also they ran a shutle down to the falls area. ( i highly recomend this as parking is a mess and the public transport in the falls area is great). we bought day passes for the transport along the falls and discounted entry to the different parts of the falls area like maid of the mist at the campground. we are not long distance travelers so we stopped at americacamp at ashland va ok for overnight but not much to brag about. we then stopped at harrisburg east campground. going this way is a little more scenic and if your kids are interested it goes through williamsport,pa home of the little league world series, and also close enough to corning ny that the wife might like to go through the corning museum and showroom there. not a bad trip. This summer i came back through west virginia on us 77 they were geting ready to basically double the tolls and the toll road was rough as a cob, very rough tow for me. If you do decide to go this way stop at beckley they have a coal mine museum and demonstration coal mine that you can ride the coal cars down into and explore with retired miners very interesting. family will love it. I took 77 north as far as akron, not a bad trip and stop at mt. eaton, its a nice campground ther and in the amish country very interesting. going this way also i went to pro football hall of fame in canton, and ia i was interested I went to the firestone country club in akron just to see it. from akron its a good shot on i 90 to niagra falls/ While you are at the falls take one afternoon and go see the welland canal , it is very interesting to see the big ships moving through. sidelight i grew up in western pa, and 67 goes right through what used to be our family farm.
