RE: Why do people do such stupid things?

You could do what we did. Custom enclosed 10 ft box to replace truck bed complete with lift gate. Towing 30 ft travel trailer. You could also use a van with a box and ramps instead of the lift gate.

RE: 'Y' adapter for LP Quick Connect Outside Port.

Should be easy enough. Remove existing quik connect, install tee fitting on line. Replace original quik connect on one leg of tee and new connect for BBQ on the other leg. If there isn't enough room for a tee fitting or its not readily accessible, you can accomplish the same thing by putting the tee on the end of a hose. As far as the gas supply volume, I would use 3/8 inch size hose before the tee before it splits to the two appliances. All this is dependent on your existing gas supply being low pressure and your BBQ being able to use it. A Google search under LP fittings should show multiple suppliers for the hoses and fittings. If your not confident working around LP, any RV service place should be able to do it.

RE: Adding a 2 inch receiver to back of trailer

I would think bolting it on would be fine, I also considered that option, but are you sure it would fit correctly? For the money the adjustable hitch alone would cost, I would check with a weld shop and compare with a custom welded unit that you know will be strong and fit correctly. If taking the trailer to a shop isn't convenient, a mobile welder might be located. I had one come to my location and fabricate one on site.

RE: DirecTV HD Setup

The best seem to be Birdog, Accutrac, and Satellite Buddy but have a price of $300-500. Cheaper meters will work to peak the signal but won't identify the particular satellite and won't work with SWM. You didnt say exactly what your issue was but I would start with a good smart phone app that will help in locating individual satellites and verify they are clear and unobstructed. I use one to position the tripod first, then use the receiver.

RE: Small Fiberglass Problem

If its only reaches the surface you might be able to sand it out using some fine wet/ dry sandpaper, then polish. The gel cote is pretty thin so be careful. A small shot of white automotive paint followed by some polish may also hide it. If its a bigger area a body shop or boat repair shop can respray the area and match the finish.

RE: 12 volt high draw gasoline fuel pumps

Holley and others have been making 12 volt fuel pumps for years. You need to check with an automotive parts house for a universal model. Stay away from ones designed for fuel injection, they have higher pressure but dont draw well. Still, they retail for about $100. To keep costs down, check Craig's list or eBay. If you Google "Mr Gasket electric fuel pump"' it may be what your looking for.

RE: AirLift Compressor

Having the manual fill ports would be at the discretion of the installer. They should be there but no guarantee. If not plainly visable you will have to follow the lines to be sure. They might be installed in a different location than the bumper. As far as the compressor goes, check for a blown fuse. Usually an inline type fuse located somewhere near the electrical connection, most likely at the battery.

RE: Black Tank Smell when Flushing Out

Most likely it is a failure of the cheap AAV under the sink or near the shower drain. They allow air to enter the tank when needed and then close. Look under the sink and up high you should see the pipe terminate with the screw in valve sitting on top. You can replace it with another $3 valve or pay $18 and get a quality one that shouldn't fail again. Very common problem.

RE: Tell me about your organization..

We've been full timing for a little over a year now. I liken organization in our TT to living on a submarine. Everything has it's spot and always goes back in that spot. It really eases the stress of searching cabinets for things. With the kids obviously they'll need bags or clear plastic bins to store their things in, and within those they can make their own organization that works for them. Make them responsible for keeping track of their own things. But the submarine comparison may be a fun way to emphasize the importance of keeping the organization in the common areas.
Plastic beach sand pails might be cute containers for certain things like toiletries - if they will have separate ones. We use plastic open top bin type containers in the kitchen to make it easy to pull out a bin and find small items, instead of rummaging through lots of loose items in a cupboard.
Best of luck to you!

RE: Any ideas what the idea is?

My trailer is like yours and most others it seems, city water on drivers side and gravity fill on curb side. It's really the only place to have it due to tank location and slide. I added a bypass valve around the water pump that allows me to fill the fresh water tank when connected to the city water supply whenever I choose. Especially nice when city water pressure is low. I can use the on board water with pump for decent pressure, then refill tank as needed.

RE: Campgrounds in Williams AZ

If you want to go no hook ups, Kaibab Lake CG (Nat'l Forest) is very close to Williams, off the 64 (closer than the KOA's), has lots of trees, and is pretty, and quiet. Forest camping. :) The upper loop is the more forested of the two. In July, the "lake" was pretty small, a very large puddle, more or less. People were still kayaking on it, but we didn't. Mid week amphitheater presentations in addition to weekend ranger talks. Some first come sites, and some of those were the best sites. Local birders put on a great talk while we were there.
We used the dump station at Circle Pines KOA (off the 40), but would not select it for a stay. The shower facilities and store were decent and quite clean, but from what we saw of the sites, gravel, uneven, sparse, and too close for our tastes. The other KOA on 64, has good reviews, but we did not visit it, so no personal obs to speak to.
If you want forest camping, try Kaibab Lake (easy access off 64) - the entrance kiosk did not stock the upper loop's map for some reason. We stayed in the lower loop a couple nights, then after checking out the upper loop, moved to a huge PT with our own piece of the forest at our site. Nice table and firering area. The recent $ investment shows. Just too bad they don't have a dump station. Some of the sites in the upper loop could accommodate 2 mh's. We're 58' total and probably had another 20-30 feet in our pull thru.
Pine Country was ok. There's a Pizza Factory in town... one of our favs. They are always in funky locations; Show Low, AZ, Orofino, ID, Bishop, CA - camping towns.
Enjoy!

RE: The mod that refuses to be

They do make the Spray port without that big storage tube. I have one on each side of my trailer. Would require a much smaller hole that might fit near existing plumbing but the hose would then need to be stored somewhere else. I have them in a storage tube under the trailer.

RE: adding reverse / backup lights to travel trailer

I have aux backup lights below the rear "bumper" wired thru a relay and activated by a switch on the dash. I don't have to be in reverse to use them. In addition I have one mounted low on each side ahead of the TT wheels to illuminate that area, mainly water hose bibs and electrical pedestals.

RE: Concerned about Campground power issues

You need a way to monitor the incoming voltage, either a plug in module or an EMS. We were recently at a campground with 30 amp service which read 115-120 volts without any load. Once the a/c came on it dipped to 105-108 volts. Adding the converter/ charger, or refer and it dropped to 94 volts! It was hot and we wanted to run the a/c so we shut off the other systems, something that would be hard do to effectively unless you have the info.

RE: Odors from holding tanks inside coach.

We had the same problem and it was most notable after driving. If traveling while a roof vent is open it may cause sufficient vacuum inside the rig to allow the AAV valve to open, sucking tank odor inside. Replacing the AAV's under every sink and possibly the shower will most likely solve the problem. However, the $3.00 version suggested and used by mfgs is cheaply made and that's why they fail. Spending $18 will get you a residential quality spring loaded type which should last indefinitely.

RE: Galley sink smells

The verticle pipe the sink drains into will either continue up through the roof or terminate up near the sink with an AAV valve. Otherwise the sink will not drain easily, air must follow water down the drain. If the drain pipe disappears inside a wall and you can't see the verticle pipe, it might go directly to the roof and there will be no need for a AAV.The cheap AAV units used by mfgs are black and blend in with the drain piping.

RE: Experience towing Longer trailers

Our TV/TT combo is 58 ft overall and have no problems on the highway or backing. Where we do encounter issues are inside campgrounds, private or otherwise. It seems mandatory in campground design that fixed objects, rocks, trees, fences, etc be place at the apex of every turn. It sometimes feels that the designers never drive anything longer that a small truck around to check their plan. Probably the same people that design mall parking lots.
