RE: Ran 220 volts through my Fema Trailer

I'm confused. 220 is two legs of 110, how can you get 220 to say a microwave? It's only has one leg of 110 correct? Or am I missing something?
you are missing something:W
Instead of one hot leg and a neutral, you have two hot legs and no neutral, hince 240 volts.
Thanks, now that I think about, I must have been confussing it with
50 amp 110v

RE: outside shower

W have a outside shower but I don't think we would use it. Is there that many people that use them, if so is it just to wash something of before you go inside to shower?
Like you, I didn't think my outside shower was very useful until someone on another thread mentioned they used theirs for washing hands and cleaning large pots while cooking outside. All the sudden that simple suggestion made my once unused outside shower my new favorite part on the camper, since I prefer to cook outside.

Have never used ours either, thought about using it like you mention, but were / how do you dump a big pan of dish water?

RE: CAT diesel Bounder overheating while driving up mountain.

There are a couple products that might help. One is called "water wetter" pick it up at places like Pep Boys. Added to your coolant it helps transfer heat to the metal of radator , that's best I can discribe what it does, another I remember is a product used in marginal cooling systems on boats called "Now Cool"
BE CAREFUL
I cant recall exactly the coolant I use (have to look at the jug)
However you never use anything other than the specified coolant recommended.
Diesels are different than gasssers.
These products aren't coolant, but an additive. We used "Now Cool"
in Detroit Diesel marine engines for years.

RE: Best router from DC through NYC to CT

I've used 695 west around Baltimore to I 83 N up to Harrisburg Pa.
then pick up 81 N. to 84 E. It might be a little longer milage wise, but usually knocks about two hours off total trip by eliminating NYC
Little more scenic also!

RE: Own a Campground? This is why I will/wont call for a Resv.

I did not read all the post, Things important to us are
wide sites, shade, good utilities. Things like wi fi and cable tv are nice, but not important for us to enjoy camping. We tend to pick the smaller campgrounds, if Woodalls says 200 site, I stop looking, prefer 75 or less.

CONESTOGA CAMPGROUND, White Sulphur Springs, MT

Smith River Valley-Conestoga Campground,in White Sulphur Springs Montana, this campground is a membership campground. I happened to find it listed as a Good Sam park, does anyone know if that means membership in Good Sam will get you in? Don't want to have to buy a $100 membership just to stay a couple days.

RE: newbie with buyer's remorse, leak + fridge + fw tank trouble

Plug the hole, check the tires, fill the gas tank, and hit the road!
Drink bottled water, use on board water for bathing, that's what most do I think.
Have fun!

RE: adding reverse / backup lights to travel trailer

7th pin in bumper plug is used for backup lights on my Chevy PU
I installed two driving lights aimed about 30degres aft of the rear wheels. My trailer is a toy hauler, so I continued the wiring up to the back side of the switch to the loading rear flood light, gives additional light aimed back and down. I did put an in line fuse in the wiring just after plug at the hitch.

RE: Towing Speed

Using streets and trips I did two mock trips of 1,600 miles
estimated the speed setting slow abouty 55, fast about 65
my rig uses 9.5 mpg at 65 and 11.5 at 55.
outcome was I would arrive 3hrs sooner at 65 but cost about $115 more
figuring 3.85 per gal and twenty minute fuel stops
I drive average of 60 MPH

RE: LOUD PIPES!

Our Harley has after market exhaust, Rineheart headers and mufflers. I got the quit baffles, but it still is noisy if I raise the RPMs
which I do not do in a camp ground, we back the bike out, mount up and I hit the starter button, once I have oil pressure we pull out.
Sorry if offends anyone, we like it.
Now, I would love to be able to shove one of those quit baffles up some of the barking dogs exhaust that owners leave tied out side thier sites, some times for hours while they leave.

RE: Black tank will not dump and I'm at a site for 3 days!

Something else to check. I just went through this. Wife was using very little water when flushing to conseve water and we were in a situation were we would need to use a tote of some kind if we stayed put much longer. Long story short the toilet has a pipe that goes down close to bottom of the tank, with holes in side of pipe. TP was stacked in there to top of the pipe and with a little water looked to be full. I was going nuts trying to back flush, use a snake and all the time tank was acually empty.

RE: Towmax tires- what would you do?

I've got about 12K on my 3 yr old Towmax tires, toyhauler is two axil and max is 11,800 also. I probibly wiegh in around 10K most time. I just keep them at 65 LBS and rarley go over 65, most time I run about 60 for fuel issues. Tires still look good. Hope I didn't just jink myself, going on a round trip over 4,000 miles.
