RE: 12 volt or 120 volt televisions power draw

joe
we probably have the same tv and the same watt inverter just a lot less AH.
Sleepy the tri metric meter is an eye opener. I like it!! As this is my first tc i am learning to read....manuals, spec sheets, battery labels and yes james patterson novels. I just have to watch football "1 game" now and then and a 9 year old that likes to break up the fishing and hiking day with a movie but he is learning as am i. With 1 more solar panel and an upgraded controller i might just make it...
Thanks all

12 volt or 120 volt televisions power draw

so i have an insigna 14 or 15 inch tele with dvd in the camper. Per my tri metric the tv draws approx 5 amps and with my direct tv DVR/SAT it draws almost 9.5 AMPS. Are there any HD tv's/direct tv recivers that draw any less power with a similar size?? is 12 volt any better on battery draw....

RE: Max Battery size in a Lance 1181

without much thought 1 went to batteries plus and bought 2 magna power agm's built by *&*&^% i cant remember and they are 94 AH each. Bye the way sleepy just got back from 4 days at the lake and my tri metric is a wonderful device. Only had to start my lawn mower generator in my lance for 1 hour.

RE: Max Battery size in a Lance 1181

just installed 2 group 31 94 AH agm's in my lance 1181. Had to remove strut from door to get them in and it is a little tight but it all worked. Am still having a little trouble with my 2007 slide even when it went back to factory for repair. It works 50% of the time when level. Will be back at dealer this week for assessment and run around.

RE: New to TC; Is my camper to heavy for the truck?

08 dodge dually lance 1181 airbags ranchos on rear only. stable loads, no rear sway bar on my dodge 4x4 08 model. Started with air bags and stable loads then added rear ranchos and it rides pretty good. I still run to much air in the bags and i will be installing a rear sway bar and front shocks this winter. Last check on cat scale 13,280 lbs and was over with full water and propane by almost 1,000 lbs

RE: tri metric battery monitor on a lance

Thanks sleepy,
For youre great clean install photos makes me want to be a better wrench/electrician but alas i am not. I have a full wall driver slide on my 1181 with batteries on a slide out tray, with little room. They do crame alot of stuff around. Upon checking a few routes to run my wiring with little or no access to such areas and to get the control cable to the unit were it might be more reader friendly i have elected to just route it up the wall by the rear door. One would think they would give the workers at lance a hole saws instead of an ice picks!
Thank you for youre replies and i will let you know how it goes.

tri metric battery monitor on a lance

So on advice from the smarter 12v folks on the forum i have purchased the trimetric battery monitor system since they are 20 minutes from my house. Ralph the owner/designer was a good guy and helpful. Most of their buisness is solar applications and i was suprised that he had never visited the rv.net forums. They are thinking of making solar controllers next.
OK has anybody installed this on their lance camper and have any useful install hints?
1 have 2 100 Ah agm's in series
9200 progresive dynamics charger
Stock solar panel 85 watt ???
Does everthing terminate to a block under the step?? were do battery exesisting cables end up?? Running cables to the unit through the camper?? etc etc....
Any hints and/or advice would be appreciated and thanks to all smarter than me.

RE: lance problems

bwanted,
My "new" 2007 1181 was returned to factory in about june, 2 months after purchase for a slide problem. My contact was mike williams. The dealer said it was a factory upgrade/repair. The factory said it was a "dealer found problem". In any event my unit was returned to the factory for repair of slide, and leaks and was "repaired" under warranty. The leaks were around hatch and i noticed when they returned it there was newer sealant around most parts on the roof. Racks/hatch/solar/dish They did a pressure test at the factory. I have not had any slide problems other than relay tripping for the slide. As to the leaks we might find out next week when heading to North cali for a fishing tournement.

RE: lance problems

My 2007 1181 gets racked all the time. Purchased new this year it was returned to factory (30 days)for slide out "upgrade" and leaks. Was newer told exactly what that was by lance or dealer both were tight lipped but was covered under warranty. My slide sometimes does not go out or back in as the relay trips and i use manual crank. Seems to fix itself and relay resets. The slide out moves out approx 1-2+ inches on winding roads. Make sure rails are lubricated as i have learned on this site.

RE: Battery Performance - What Am I missing?

hotelone welcome to the 12 volt world. I am no expert and I have been awakend by those alarms more than i want to admit. My lance 1181 has the newer progessive 9200 3 stage charger with built in charge wizard. Meaning it has 3 levels of charge depeding on battery level. You can get the pendant that lets you manually set charge level for a limited time. The 9100 model lets you plug in the charge wizard to make it a 3 stage charger. I just purchased 2 expensive 100ah agm batteries and had the same problem camping up sonora pass labor day. My tv/dvd takes alot of power approx 5 Amps by my meter with electrical engineer friend at my side. tv/dvd?? 1 battery?? I still have not figured out my batteries and will probaly buy the trimetric mentioned above. I just want to get 1 good nights sleep without have those darn alarms going off and being able to start the genny.

RE: Driveway Slope

I have a larger lance 1181 w/ slide and its on what 1 thought was a level drivway. The jacks move and bow. I keep it level when raising and lowering and the jacks bow and scrape even when my drive way is only sloped 2-2.5 inches in about 5-6 feet forward and to side. My pads warp on the bottom of the jacks. I built saw horses to put the camper on and the slide out wracks and wont go out or in at times.

RE: Lance 835

Now i put 2 AGM 100Ah batteries in the camper to replace the 2-small dealer batteries. Do i need to change anything?? will my 9200 converter be ok with the AGM's. Should 1 get the pendant to moniter voltages. My lance 1181 panel never shows more that 13.? volts?? I just got back from the sierras and the first night the detectors went off, found the fridge on 12 volt. I filled propane bottle and i guess it gets air in the lines took awhile to get it to work on propane. Second night boy watched 1 movie detectors went off again 4 AM.. Checked with meter the next day TV/DVD through 350 watt converter draws 5 amps/ No more movies. Just want to get through a nite without beeps

RE: Which tv ?

I have a larger hdtv with dvd player with a 350 watt converter. It drains the 2 100Ah batteries pretty quick. I check with my meter this last trip out and the combo draws 5 amps.
