RE: Tire side wall cracks?

I bought a set of Michelin's 3-1/2 years ago based on the advice of this forum. I must have been lucky and got a good set. Almost 40,000 miles and no sign of cracking.

Is there a certain date range that is failing?
I did a lot of research before spending my hard earned cash.
This really bothers me.
So what tire do we like now and where is it made?

RE: Tire side wall cracks?

Pretty common occurance with the overpriced******that is Michelin. Sorry you got burned by the Michelin hype.
I just must be lucky...I have run Michelins for years and years on all our vehicles and have never gotten anything but great service from them.
"Pretty common occurrence," for Michelin tires to fail...Source?
Michelin themselves say their tires are junk. Or almost a half a million of them.
Here are 178 pi$$ed off Michelin customers.
Cracking sidewalls a common theme with Michelins.
Unless I'm reading the article wrong, It's not all Michelin tires.
Looks like BF Goodrich and Uniroyal's line up.
Hopefully they will take are of those affected quickly and fairly.

RE: Water on Awning???

We have a 2012 Salem 26Tbud with a electric solera awning. A lot of water is collecting on the awning when it rains. I know they are meant for sun not water but does anyone have any tricks or what do you all do? Thank you
Mine did not come with a tilt-able feature either.
My dealer contacted the company who made the awning and they sent me a new adjustable arm for free.
I installed my self and now she tilts just fine.
Call and ask.

RE: one ton toyota

When I was in high-school,(late 1970's) a buddy of mine had a toyota dually truck with a stake-side bed.
Heavy duty front rims.
I wonder if this was the same chassis?

RE: Deep Fryers

Yes we do.
Wifey uses the same Fry-Daddy that we use at home.
It's been on many trips with us.
She makes taco shells mostly but we have been known to make French Fries and Tater Tots in there too!
We only use this outside.
I set up a small folding table for her and I run an extension cord from the CG power pedestal for her to use.
We also use an electric skillet.
We cook outdoors as much as we can.

RE: galley tank

you would have to check your users manual (or internet) for tank sizes
You can leave gray open while camping and just leave the black closed until you are ready to dump/leave...
That's what we do!

RE: Help?!

I don't know about the control panel... but does your landing gear work with the switch now? Does it work with the remote? If it works with the remote and not the switch, check the fuse in the battery compartment that controls the landing gear. I found out that the dealer raised the landing too far up when we took it in for some other reason, and doing so blew the landing gear fuse in there. Replaced the fuse and all was fine. So be careful not to retract or extend the landing gear as far as it will go, stop an inch or two shy of that.

RE: Do I really need a sliding hitch?

The BEST anyone can promise is "Probably not" and "Almost never" and both have that tiny, iffy possibility that someday you will.
I have a Pullrite Superglide for the same reason I have a spare tire and auto insurance.
Nicely put!
X2 on the Superglide.

RE: Signs

We got ours at the county fair when it came into town.
It's just about that time of year.
Seems like they always have a wooden sign maker there.
Good hunting!

RE: Rockwood Fifth Wheels

I have a Flagstaff (Same box just different stickers) Kind of like GMC/Chevrolet.
No major issues. A few minor one's.
Concertone Audio/DVD was a piece of junk: Replaced with a small Home Theater.
Had a sliding interior door track come loose. (was not installed correctly) Fixed myself.
Mine is a 2009 that we ordered from the factory and received in March of 2008.
Dealer was good to us.
I would consider them again if making another trailer purchase.

RE: dumping fresh water question

I dump it at home. That way I have water to flush the toilet or wash hands in the event someone has to use the head. The same when were headed to the campground, I carry about 20 or so gallons for the same reason.

RE: King Pin Leveling Tripod?

We are using the Winfield Stabilizer.
Clicky
Been very satisfied with it.

Wow, 200 clams for 20 bucks worth of tubing. But thanks for the link, that will be easy to build myself. :)
There is some engineering involved there too. :)
But if you can build it yourself for 20 bucks, more power to you.

RE: Half Ton Fifth wheel advice...

Don't even think of using a 1/2 ton to go camping with, you can only camp with at the least a one ton dually. I personally think a 450 minimum for a 5er. The dealers lie about the campers. :B
We have over 50,000 miles on our Tundra and a large part of that is with the Flagstaff following. I would not go bigger on a camper, but it's not for the truck. Fuel mileage is not that great but the Tundra is for back and forth to work, all 9 miles.
And I do own a F350 diesel but it's a beast of burden as a daily. I will use it because we are getting a bigger 5er.
You sir, are too funny! :B

RE: Half Ton Fifth wheel advice...

Our Flaggstaff has the lightest (actual) pin weight I could find at the time.
1,100 lbs.
I'm still over cargo capacity.
Been happy with the unit.
Anyway you can get a 3/4 ton truck?
Your trailer choices will be a lot better.
I wish I would have. (not knocking the truck it's been great)
Bill
You can also step up to a 1 ton (350/3500) SRW, and have even more choices.
It just scares me to death the number of 1/2 ton owners that thing Air bags and Super Springs, solve the issues of the Semi floating 5 to 7 lug rear axles under the load they are putting on it. Wait until they see one of their rear tires passing them on the highway.
That's true..
But to be fair, It's not just 1/2 tons.....I have seen an awful lot of 3/4 ton trucks pulling huge toy haulers that are way over loaded too!
We have a friend who does that. Very scarry!
It seems as though the only education people get about towing is on this site and that is a very small percentage of the people out there towing.
