RE: The pink stuff has gone in....

Well..... I had to just sell my Class C which I loved and had a lot of awesome camping trips in. Even went across country in 2007!! It just got to expensive for me right now, with the maintenance and the gas costs! It has been gone for about three weeks now and I just keep thinking that I would have to start winterizing if I still had it! So the end of a camping season and the end of camping for us for awhile!

RE: Looking for person to apply Liquid Roof in Arizona

I first applied Liquid Roof roughly 4 years ago and made several mistakes which made me redo it this passed July. Some places where I went wrong. 1) Cleaning the roof before hand – Clean with a rubber roof cleaner, DAWN dish soap (light application) and a good brush and make sure you get everything off within reason. 2) Make sure roof is completely dry! Last time I did it I cleaned the roof on a Friday evening and then started first thing Saturday morning! Well, the roof still had morning dew on it! That was part of my fatal mistake. I did use towels to attempt to dry it but it is impossible. This time in July I went out in the afternoon for the application. Roof was totally dry! BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!!!! 3) Mixing – When you mix the application I poured the catalyst way to quick first time. You need a good ½” ELECTRIC drill. A battery drill will never last I do not care who makes it or the battery that is in it. You need the high RPM that an electric provides. One you get a small vortex then slowly pour in the catalyst and really get the sides mixed and move the drill up and down, everywhere and pour slowly! I got rushed last time and thought “THAT WAS GOOD ENOUGH!” These were the main issues I had above once I spoke to JNK products http://www.jnkproducts.com/liquid_roof/ Where I purchased it! Great company. They are the ones that informed me of my mistakes and gave me a free fie gallon container after 4 years. I noticed that my application after four years was giving a “popcorn effect” on the roof towards the front. That is from a moist roof or bad mixing. I am thinking moist roof since the back part of the motorhome dried out before I applied it. This application the one in July went much better. Made sure mixing was done 100% from direction and roof was clean and dry! Once mixed the entire roof took me 1.5 hours for a 32’ motorhome and I was working slowly! This product is very easy to use. I used a 3/8 nap roller (2 of them were ready in case the first one got messed up or something). Once this stuff is mixed you have four hours before it is to hard to work worth! I totally rushed last time. I also used a 4” paint brush. That is it! Application was dipping the roller (with extension handle on it) into the bucket (trying not to drip to much, had more issues with roller pan first time through declined to use it this time) and started out in the right hand corner and started to roll! I simply rolled out the entire roof. The AC, vents, sides etc… were done with the paint brush dipped directly into the bucket. Be careful not to paint yourself in a corner! Once completed have an A frame ladder ready so you can get to the side of the motorhome and look for any spots where it could have been a light application and roll it with your extension handle. It is easy to do as long as you do not rush it! IT looks great afterwards! If you have any other questions please feel free to ask! I feel very comfortable about doing it and have learned from my mistakes! After the last application! Last little tidbit – I did all my seams with Eternabond tape. If you are not familiar with the tape do a search on RV.net to see all the great reviews or you can write me back! I did the tape before the first application. Eternabond is permanent, and with the Liquid roof over top no more issues ever! Good Luck and it will work out great. Please let me knwo if you have any other questions

RE: Looking for person to apply Liquid Roof in Arizona

I have a rubber roof. YOu may want to check with their website. I remember reading somewhere (not 100% sure though) that Liquid Roof is not for fiberglass. I just checked their website and found this: •Adheres to metal, canvas, plywood, foam, cement, sheet rubber, other roof coatings, EPDM, steel, wood and more! Website: http://www.liquidroof.com/liquid-roof.html So I could be wrong though I would definitly call them. I had a huge issue with my first 5 gallon bucket about four years ago. I had a lot of "popcorn" effect on the front part of the roof. I discovered it last Novemeber after applying everythingfour years prior. Called the company and we discussed application, mixing and everything else. They agreed to give me a free 5 gallon bucket to replace the first application (again four years old). I WAS VERY IMPRESSED! AWESOME company! So give them a call for correct application. I just placed the new application on mid July so I saw the differences and the errors I made the first time through. Totally different looking roof now from the first time.

RE: Looking for person to apply Liquid Roof in Arizona

I just did my motorhome (Class C 32') about two months ago, and I can tell it is not a bad job. If you can climb the ladder to get up onto the roof then it will work out great for you. It is a very easy application to put down. I can give you all the details wanted and the prep that needs to be done if you are interested! It took me roughly 2.5 hours to do it, I can place some pics also of the finish product if you want. Let me know!

Indian Springs Campground - Anyone stay here

Has anyone ever stayed at this campground in OH: http://www.indianspringscampground.com/ I will be in the area next week and it looks like it is pretty nice. I went to a few campground review sites but have not found much on it. Thoughts? Thanks

Of course the timing is perfect for Memorial Day also! They would not have it any other way!

RE: Changing propane solenoid

That is what I was told is that CCI was the biggest company with the shutoff, so I should convert over to a normal one now.

RE: Changing propane solenoid

I just called several RV-parts outlets (from the internet) and discovered that CCI is out of business. They stated that the parts are very hard to come by and in the long run not worht hunting them down. They suggested that I simply remove the solenoid and place in an in-line coupler. So both propane hoses come together where (solenoid) used to sit and get another brand new propane gas alarm. Does this make sense? Sounds like an easy fix.

https://www.safehomeproducts.com/shp2/data/manuals/771 It is not allowing me to go there. I took away the "s" on the HTTP also. Either way it takes me page can not be found.

RE: Changing propane solenoid

Maybe this will help! www.safehomeproducts.com/SHP2/data/manuals/7770.pdf Why do turn it on and off? Maybe you have worn the switch out so it only makes contact part of the time. Turn it on and leave it on! Thanks for the link. I just looked at it and that particular unit looks like an alarm only (good information though). Mine also has a yellow wire that pops the solenoid open and holds it open for the propane to flow. I turn it on and off due to the fact that once it is on and stops beeping if the soloenoid does not open then it does me no good to leave it on. So, at that point turn it off for a few moments and back on then wait to see if the solenoid opens this time after the initial beeping.

RE: Changing propane solenoid

Once it is open it stays open. The problem is getting it to open.

RE: removing electric brake controller

You could always just leave it there in case you ever want to sell the MH and the controller would be there for the buyer or ever tow anything again with electric brakes.

RE: Changing propane solenoid

Sounds more like an electrical problem then a mechanical problem. I would check all the electrical connections from the power sources. What brand of detector? Make and model It is a CCI controls LPgas Detector Pre-Tell2 (picture below) I called CCI and they appear to be out of business. I wanted their thoughts on it. I am going camping soon so I want to make sure it turns on when I need it. I am going to start trying to turn it on a day before and once it opens then leaving it there until I can figuare out what needs to be replaced! http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq5/gfranky14/MotorHome/P1180084.jpg

RE: Changing propane solenoid

MHs have two battery systems, chassis which starts and operates most vehicle operations, and the house system which operates most every thing in the living area. If you pull the sensor out of the wall you should find two red wires and one yellow. The red wires go to the battery systems one to each. The yellow wire goes to the solenoid. "It is only opening once or twice out of ten times of turning the switch on and off and waiting." This is confusing, you should not be turning the switch on the LP detector on and off. Turn it on and let it run! When I turn on the detector it goes through it's 15 or so seconds of beeping and once stopped the solenoid will pop open. It can sit there all day and never pop. If you turn it on and off let it continue with the beeping again, then it may or may not open again. Repeating this several times is what it will take for the soloenoid to finally pop open.

RE: Transmission burned out on new tow car!

My Honda Accord transmission burned up after towing (and following the tow procedures to the letter). I decided that as much as I love towing four down with the brake buddy that it was a bit more work but I went with a tow dolly with surege brakes. Now I no longer have to stress with the "what if's" on my transmission.

RE: Changing propane solenoid

I would check the connections on the electrical lines. I only see one wire from the ground, the black wire. It normally is connected to both battery systems. Check for resistance between each. I added a jumper between my house and chassis batteries. Check your fuses for the sensor. It should have good power from both battery systems which is then sent to gas valve solenoid on the yellow wire. You do remove the solenoid as you described. Biggest thing is you may need an adpater to connect hose to tank gas valve fitting at the tank side. When you stated that you only see one wire from the ground the black one, and that it is normally connected to both battery systems. What do you mean connected to both battery systems? I know when I use a meter that I have 12 volt coming down to the soloenoid however it is not popping open everytime. It is only opening once or twice out of ten times of turning the switch on and off and waiting.

Changing propane solenoid

I am going to be changing out my propane solenoid on my motorhome it is no longer opening every time. Is this something you simply disconnect hoses on both sides replace solenoid and reconnect the hoses (check for leaks)? If so does the cover on the other side of the solenoid come off easily (to the left of my finger, the big cover)? I did a quick look at it and it was not obviously how it comes off to uncover the other side. http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq5/gfranky14/MotorHome/P1180085.jpg http://i428.photobucket.com/albums/qq5/gfranky14/MotorHome/P1180086.jpg Thanks
