RE: 2001 National Tropical????

I've had two National motorhomes, an '87 Dolphin and our current 2000 SurfSide. Never had a major problem with either one. The Dolphin was so well-built that when it came time for a new rig, we again purchased from National and have never regretted that decision.

RE: Found this beautiful dog in Monument Valley need help

Calling Best Friends is an excellent suggestion.

Yellow Dog Project

You may have already heard of this, but I came across this information for the first time this morning: "The Yellow Dog Project is a global movement for parents of dogs that need space. The concept behind it is quite simple. If you see a dog with a yellow ribbon tied to its leash, that signifies a dog who needs space and you should not attempt to pet the dog or bring your own dog over for a greeting." They go on to explain that the dog might be ill, elderly, anti-social or in training. The reason doesn't matter, and I'm thinking about all those people who never ask before approaching my dog who is both leash reactive and in training.

RE: The good the bad and ugly of front kitchen floorplan

The thing that I disliked most about the front kitchen was the distance between the driver and any passengers seated to the rear of the coach. Made traveling with family less enjoyable.

RE: Looking for CG in Glacier and Banff

The KOA on the west side is really nice and offers different kinds of sites - plush to rustic. We don't tow, but a shuttle picked us up right at the campground so not a problem. Even stayed an extra two days.

RE: Adequan injections OK ?

When my lab's hips got worse, the vet started using periodic Adequan shots in conjunction with oral glucosamine and nsaid. It helped.

RE: Does Chassis batteries charge when plugged in

Had a similar problem. When the rig was new, all I had to do was plug in to electricity and the chassis battery would be charged. But after a number of years, all I ever had was a dead or dying battery. Techs kept telling me that I was wrong, and that charging the chassis battery was never a function of my inverter. Finally, I gave up arguing and attached a Trik-L-Start. I no longer have a problem. The chassis battery is always fully charged and ready to go.

RE: Driving a Scooter in Yellowstone NP

Be careful of Elk, too. Saw a stag ram a MH in Monmouth last year. He left holes in the fiberglass wall with his antlers. Mammoth. OOPS! Yes, it was Mammoth. Monmouth is a town here in Oregon. : ) Didn't notice my error. Thanks.

RE: Dog Aggression

After a health check, I'd advise consulting a behaviorist. And to increase your control, purchase a Halti or gentle leader. My 80 lb Chinook is "reactive" (which is what our local humane society calls it) with other dogs. The Halti is the only collar that allows me to keep her under control at all times. We also enrolled in a class for reactive dogs offered at the shelter. She'll never be a dog park dog, but walks certainly aren't as stressful as they once were and improvement is slow but steady.

RE: Dakota moves in

I agree with Sue.T. Even the pup that I adopted (who had been raised outside) always wanted to go outside to do her business. She actually woke me in the middle of the night on her first night with me because she had to go. Hopefully, that will be your experience, too.

RE: First Purchase and now first trip!!!

Take the rig to a park close-by for a "shakedown" before your leave. We've been RVing for over 40 years, but still find that it's a good idea to do a tryout before leaving on a long trip. Even if nothing needs attention, it gives you a better idea of what supplies you'll want/need on the road, especially since this is your first RV. Even a short jaunt can be helpful.

RE: 2007 Damon Daybreak 3070

Go to a dealership and ask to test drive one. I did when I was unsure of moving from a "C" to an "A."

RE: Looking for a nice campground in Moab, Ut

We enjoy staying at Canyonlands because of the shade offered and the proximity (within walking distance) to shops and restaurants. Not the prettiest campground, but as others have said, you'll probably not be spending a great deal of time in camp. But we would also recommend the camp inside Arches. It's without hookups, but the surroundings are magnificent.

RE: Easiest route into Yellowstone NP

Visited in September last year. The daytime temps were great, but it did freeze overnight at Fishing Bridge. Not a problem at Mammoth though. It all depends on the altitude of the campground.

RE: Glacier National Park & Environs

Another vote for the KOA in West Glacier. Pet friendly and good laundry. Some of the sites are very rustic among trees, and some come with large patios and a gas grill. Your choice.

RE: Getting a Dog Acclimated to Camping///

Have never had a problem with any of our dogs. Even the lab who didn't enjoy riding in the car was comfortable in the MH as long as she could look out the front window once in a while. Just be sure to stop periodically on the way so the dog can stretch its legs and potty.
