Did the right thing...yes....23K in good times still a bunch of bull...did they take it the over extreme during the 'bad'..oh yeah (come on someone would've have had to pay me to haul that tree off )..some underlying motive there I'm thiking (being the Sherlock Holmes type I am :R)...
Heck if they'd of just made it a contest of who's going to pick the best tree to be our official Christmas Tree....I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have cost a dime...:R
Take it a bit further and who's going to bring the best lights for the tree...best decorations...best topper....and in good or bad times...it would be a very spectacular looking tree...and with a ZERO cost to taxpayers...

Well thanks everybody I do feel a bit better about it now....
I can tell you though I was fuming mad at that Ford guy....but if he hadn't done that....I wouldn't have had to slow down a bit so I wasn't on his bumper...and who knows it very well could've been me instead of him...
So I was more than glad to give him a ride all things considering :)
After the ambulance folks got there and I moved away from the truck it all kind of hit me and I was so scared for him and was teary eyed, I was afraid he was gonna die or loose his arm....some nice woman came over and gave me a hug and made sure I thought I'd be okay to drive. There were many nice people that stopped that day.

To msmith....I could if needed give CPR 'technically' only experience can tell if you can put up or shutup....and I have once done a heimlich manuever on my nephew that worked...skill or luck...I don't know...

I wasn't being critical of you at all.
I didn't take it as critical...just as a slap on the wrist/hand a gentle did you think before you acted.....before contributing to the tourniquet?? (not that you could've known one way or the other)...nope somebody referring themselves as 'nurse' type title 'claimed' it was needed....I know it was not RVN or LVN sounding title...but 'she' said it was needed...and I ran and got it...would I have agreed if I checked what looked like the loss of blood...I'll never know...I was like a deer in the headlights...or monkey hear...monkey do...
And I know this much....if you have enough experience to know what you would do....then anything you want to point out...will only make me think better if in the future I need it....

Well I guess...morally...technically...you could try at greater cost to you than it's worth...but really truly...do you want to get involved in suing STUPID....I think not...you'd end up knowing 99% of my family and that's not a good thing trust me :B

Wow CA POPPY....that must've of been a shock....nice to know I'm not the only one...
hershey...As to the the tourniquet (I can already spell better LOL)....I didn't take it as being raked over the coals...maybe being slapped on the hand a bit....but thanks for sticking up for me...

The truck was so badly mangled...I wouldn't have been able to do much (no getting this guy out with the jaws of life)...except clear an airway so he could breath...or...just comfort him knowing I was there and I cared... or maybe make him more comfortable by adjusting a foot or something...
I did not apply the tourniquet....it all went so fast....as people started running to help....a nurse of some type said need something to make a tourniquet...I had a t-shirt in my car...ran and grabbed it...someone ripped it and used it....couple of minutes later someone offered their belt...and it was used on top of the t-shirt...
Could I truly as the only one on the scence...truly determine that someone needed a tourniquet....nope....if I'm in any reasonable doubt of what I consider too much blood....I'll take life over limb if I have too...hope I don't have to choose...
In this case...if I was the only one...poor guy...I didn't even bother to ask if he was okay...just left him for dead :(

'bout...a month or so back...left work early to go vote...
Ford Pick (of course a Ford :;) like cut right in front of me..real close...with no blinker (pretty sure blinkers don't work on Fords :))..
Anyway less than a minute later...I see something out of the corner of my eye and turn to look...
To my absolute horror...there is a small pick up airborne sideways coming 'my way'....hit the brakes as hard as I can...it's either going to be me or the Ford...little pickup lands in front of Ford...Ford with those breaks (just kidding) no chance of stopping...nails little truck...(lots of spinning and crashing of little pickup)...
When everything comes to a stop...I am the first to jump out of my car and run over to little pickup...what I see is not good...lower arm almost severed...head twisted like the neck was broke...arm twitching...I truly believed the guy was dead....and ran back to my car as at this point I'm freaked out...as I'm running back to my car another that had gotten out to check if they could help...well they had intelligence to holler out to the guy...are you okay????...and he (small truck guy) answered back...OMG what an idiot I felt like....how could I have just assumed he was dead and not asked/checked...
I did end up supplying the t-shirt for the tournequet (sp?) and gave the 'Ford' guy that hit little truck a ride to Lewisville where his buddy picked him up...
I had always thought that if I ever was in one of those life and death situations..I'd be there and do the right thing....didn't count on not being smart enough or calm enough to ask the obvious :R:(
