RE: ad blocker on PC

What browser are you using? I have Internet explorer. I don't know anything about Firefox. I did end up getting Google Chrome with something else I downloaded, but I haven't used it. Mike Go to MVP Hosts file and down the file for Windows 7. It is a self install. Just follow the instructions. You will not have any ads and at the same be a little more protected from the sites that distribute mailware. This is not a commercial site. These are Professionals from Microsoft. Known sites that distribute mailware are blocked from even loading of the PC. Been running it for many years with IE. You don't need to install any ad block software. Just this file. Keep running IE.

RE: Tethering Speed

You probably wouldn't want to pay the cost for data. Not any worse than cable internet. Data is what it is all about.

RE: New Windows 8 Laptop

I set up a friends Vista laptop a few years ago and the hard drive was starting to go away. She bought a Win8 laptop and asked me to set it up for her. I set up har bluetooth tether to her phone and transfered all her stuff over, set up a few modern apps and her last installl of Office 2007, installed the start8 start button and menu, gave her a few new movies and some more music. She came over Saturday and in about an hour she had it down. She likes it. They are on the way to Alaska, be back in Sept.

RE: Blocking a domain

You can block a domain in 2007. Go to Actions, Junk E-mail, Junk E-mail options, blocked senders tab. You can block domain names or email addresses.

RE: What's up with the new Outlook?

Have you seen the commercials saying you are getting Scroggled? That's how afraid MS is of Google. The commercials are actually commercials for Outlook! They have to do something to scare the he77 out of you before Gmail takes over the segment. Microsoft is trying to make users aware of privacy issues in using Gmail and other Google services. Google makes is money from targeted advertising. Google scans gmail for hints on what ads to deliver when you go to your gmail account. It is a privacy issue. Same thing for Chrome and android use. Some you can op out of, some you can't.

RE: What's up with the new Outlook?

Remember, with your Microsoft email address you can get 7GB of Skydrive storage. You need a mac or a PC with at least Vista for it to be useful. The online interface to skydrive is part of your email interface. You can upload pictures and share them using an email link or create a group of email addresses and share pictures to the whole group. Use the Shared Favorites Folder for that. There is a Skydrive program to load on your PC so you can access and upload stuff to skydrive.

RE: Spill on laptop

If the main problem now is the keyboard, replace it with one from eBay. It is not difficult, instructions are surely on the internet. Replace the keyboard.

RE: Steering stabilizer recommendations 2006 F53 chasis?

A steering stabilizer treats the symptoms. A track bar fixes the problem.

RE: windows 8 won't save user ID or passwords

Interesting. It used to be that whenever someone asked a PC question, some posters would always reply 'buy an apple'. Now when someone asks a Win 8 question, some posters have to reply 'use Win 7 or XP'. Myself, I wish the moderators would delete those posts as they have nothing to do with solving the OP questions. If there was a thumbs up or a kudos button your post would certanily deserve a click. Someone needs to come up with a good acronym to fit those type posts.

RE: fossil digging in Wyoming?

We went out in Kemmerer to dig, one of the private places, but it was about $30. The altitude will get you, take breaks and water.

RE: windows 8 won't save user ID or passwords

the best advice is to reformat and install win 7 on it. A much better OS. Win 8 is terrible. IMHO In your opinion. Others may have a different opinion. This problem is site specific, not all sites are affected. MS recognizes the problem and a fix will be coming out in an update.

RE: Will furnture move around?

All furniture should be bolted down or have a restraint that will keep it in place in case of collision.

RE: Hijacked by tag.bluekai.com website

I started using SuperAntiSpyware when nothing else would clean up my nieces laptop. What you download contains both the free and the paid version. Paying just activates the real time protection. SuperAntiSpyware Before you scan check for updates and change some preferences. Uncheck start when windows starts and show the icon in system tray. There is also a portable version you can put on a USB drive or CD. It just runs, it does not install the program, best to use in the safe mode. The scanner is saved under a random filename so that malware infections won't block it. Portable version.

RE: do most of you remove the coach battery in the winter

Charge it up, remove the ground cable and forget about till next spring. It won't freeze and the charge won't deplete.

RE: trying to get computer on tv ? not a guru need one

Video cable from laptop the PC input on TV. HDMI or VGA cable? You have to setup the laptop video to display to the TV, When you do it will find that is a TV. It should be able to clone the laptop screen or make it a second display that is different. Your pointer will move between the two monitors. That is why, in the setup window, you put the TV on top and the monitor below. There is probably a max resolution for the TV listed in the owners manual of the TV. That is what you want to set the resolution of the second to. How you do all of that depends on the display adapter in the laptop, and the operating system on the laptop.

RE: Battery Question

I would do it if all were about the same age. Check each 12v and each pair of 6v batteries after a good charge and again after you deplete the whole bank, all tied together, down to about 12.2v. This is about 60% state of charge. Check each 12v and pair of 6v voltage again. They should be pretty close in voltage. If one is obviously lower than the rest, that is your weak link. You should have a digital multimeter to check voltages.

RE: STORING BATTERY IN WINTER

A battery in good condition, fully charged, with no loads attached can be stored outside in sub zero temperatures. They do not have to be removed and brought in or kept on a charger. I stored my MH and toad in Alaska for three winters. I asked the same type of question of the locals before I stored it the first winter. I got the same answer more than once. Charge it, take the ground cable off and forget it. All batteries self discharge. The rate of self discharge is temperature dependent. The colder it is the lower the self discharge rate is. Between the MH and toad I have eight batteries, two 12v starting and six 6v batteries that spent three winters in Anchorage, lowest temp was -34 degrees. That started in 2007 and all batteries are still in use today. No battery pair was lower than 12.55 volts coming out of storage. The key is to charge it, take the ground cable off and forget it till next spring.

RE: Windows 8 Officially Launched Today

Hopefully, MS is working to stem the software BLOAT that Windows has become over the last few releases. The bloat on new Windows PCs comes from the vendors, Dell, Toshiba, HP, not MS. For the $14.99 offer you can purchase a disk, a few more $. The upgrade can be installed on any PC you have that meets the hardware requirements.
