RE: Accumulator and water pressure

Pex water system have been rated for well over 100psi, and can handle temperature range from freezing to well over 150 degrees. Susan and I are certified Pex system installers (built own 3000 + sq ft house). One of the test for Pex is heating it up with a torch and shaping it. RV manufactures pressure test their system to 80 psi.

RE: Hwy 98 Arizona

Unless they have 89 open up. 98 is the only way to get to Page. Remember, 89 was closed due to road sinking. They were working to open a temporary route in April. So at that time 98, was the only way from the south. Even if the temp route is open, it may not be pretty. I would call Az DOT directly and talk to them.

RE: Full Timing Accounting Question

You can change domicile anytime you choose to. The homes will / could be treated as investments. But if you want accountant and tax advise, contact an accountant and pay their fee. Otherwise all you are getting is opinions, which could lead to IRS issues.

RE: Alfa See Ya

I refuse to get on the band wagon, all manufactures have issues with coaches:
Join these 2 groups:

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/SeeYaDP/
Talk to the owners of Alfa's then you can make an informed decision Vs. listening to rambling of people who have never owned one. Remember it is there opinion. Freightliner XC chassis, all components are standard in other rigs. CAT, Cummings of MB engines.

RE: Killed my solar panels.......

Based on the panels, they may have blocking diodes. But they are inside near the connections. Call the manufacture or find the specs. However, I would start looking elsewhere first. Disconnect the panels completely and see if they are producing power.

RE: Adapter for 7 pole rv to 4 pole round?

On my rig, I installed a 7 pin blade on the Alfa, and a 5 pin round on our jeep. This gave me the following lights.
Left / Right Turn signal (Amber)
Parking lights (Red)
Braking/emergency (Red).
These are all separate lights on the Jeep Liberty.
I already had the umbilical cord (7 Blade to 5 round).
The Alfa came pre-wired with the 7 blade. I have diagrams from Etrailer showing the standard wires charts.

RE: How often have you had to add to your house batts?

It really depends on the charge / discharge cycle. Meaning, when you dry camp, what is the discharge level you allow the batteries to go before you charge them. And when you equalize them.
The average RV'ers do not really dry camp. They are always hooked up to shore power. Do a search in the Tech section.

RE: The new Xantrex SW3012 claims 10ms switching...

I installed the Magnum MS2800. I cannot tell when I loose power. I have mine set for 90Vac drop. I disconnect the AC by switching the breaker off, to alow the batteries to discharge / charge to get an accurate SOC.
And yes no lost of setting on any of my electronics.

Show Low Arizona to Rapid City SD

Susan and I are making our first trip to Rapid City, SD., to change domicile from Arizona to South Dakota. Currently planning an easy drive starting from Trinidad, Co (Hwy 350) to La Junta, Co (Hwy 71) to Scottsbuff, Ne.
Scottsbuff, Ne to Alliance, Ne (Hwy 385), transfer to (Hwy 79) Rapid City, SD
Would like suggestions as to places to stop and park for a day or two.
Also open to other suggestions, thank you.

RE: Too old to continue traveling ? Grown children urging ..

I do not always understand the need to post questions like this. I tell my kids it is none of there business and to go away. I also tell them, nothing personnel. You are adults - so act like it. And tell them you are leaving everything to charity or to something else but not to them. Pay attention to the Doctors and seek their advise.

RE: Inverter or EMS or Batteries?

Marvin, you do not state what type of inverter or inverter charger you have. I am assuming your statement about going down the road with “14.2 Amps” you really mean volts. And further “13.6” is really 13.6 volts. This could mean your alternator voltage (Engine).
The only item I can find is on a Prosine Inverter (and not a inverter/charger).
• Error Code 207 - Internal DC Bus voltage low. Temporary condition caused by low battery voltage in conjunction with an overload condition.
• Internal fault.
1. Check if battery is OK (see error code 002).
2. Disconnect AC and DC power to the PROsine. Reconnect DC and AC power after 15 minutes. If the problem persists, contact Statpower Customer Service.
3. Contact Statpower.
If you believe your Inverter is Ok, I would start looking at a bad battery. Either way additional info is needed.

RE: Insurance/budget question?

We Short sale our home in the Phoenix area April 2012. Been living in our rig since then. We put our rig and jeep in a Montana LLC. We followed what the law is for Az. Our registration etc was much less.
Starting may 2013 we will head to South Dakota, to chance domicile.
Our expectation and budget is setup including medical insurance.
Our budget is set for $36K Plus or minus.
YOU will need to place calls to various insurance agency to discuss with them your expectations. They will ask you what type of RIG you have and where your domicile is.
Their are many good coaches for less the $150K in very good shape.
