RE: Anybody put a rear sway bar on a Frieghtliner XC Chassis?

No sway bar for me but like a lot of XC owners I have put motion sensors (air valves) on my last two coaches which greatly reduced the sway.

RE: where to stay in cental fla

DeerCreek RV and Golf Resort in Davenport, FL located at I-4 and US 27 took PA last winter and so did Theme World which is at the same exit. You might give them a call or check them out on the internet. They are 15 minutes from Disney.

RE: Onan Generator: Fix or Replace?

I have a new 2008 coach and the generator ran perfectly but produced no electricity. The automatic transfer switch died and wouldn't switchover to generator. We had it replaced and problem was fixed.

RE: Thinking of selling my coach...Am I stupid?

Last April we were in about the same place you are. We decided to trade our 1999 Winnebago Chieftain 36' DP which was paid off on a new 2008 Winnebago Tour 40'. The Chieftain was not giving us any trouble whatsoever. However, we were RVing a lot more and wanted more space and amenities. We now have dual pane windows, gas/electric water heater, auto start generator, fully automatic HWH jacks, in motion satellite, 3 HD tvs, power awning, sleep number bed, two furnaces and heat pumps, cummins ISL 400 with 1200 torque, etc. We got $40,000 for our Chieftain and they heavily discounted the new Tour. We will have been on the road with either the old or new coach for a total of 8 months during 2009. We felt now was the time for us to buy a new rig and we would get our moneys worth out of the coach. You have to decide what is best for you. In our case, I was concerned about keeping the old coach for another 5-6 years and the potential maintenance issues involved.

RE: Up sizing or Down sizing

In April 2009 we went from a 36' DP up to a new 40' DP. No downsizing for us.

RE: 2003 Coachmen Cross Country Elite 376 DS-CATERPILLAR

Manufacturers used to charge a substantial upcharge for a CAT engine over a Cummins. You should feel fortunate.

RE: New and Improved

We bought our 2008 Tour 40TD in April 2009. We have taken it from GA to the Grand National Rally in Forrest City, Iowa and had the factory boys tweak a few things for us while in town. We love the coach which is a big step up from our 36' diesel Chieftain. Good luck with it.

RE: Cummins 5.9 diesel 275 h.p. Class A D.P. Input

We had a 1999 Winnebago Chieftain DP with 5.9 Cummins 275 hp and 6 speed allison transmission. The coach was 36' and we towed a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It had fair performance and excellent fuel mileage 10-11. We traded it in April on a 2008 Winnebago Tour with 400 ISL Cummins. The coach is a 40 footer and weighs considerably more than the Chieftain and we are getting low 9s on fuel usage. The big difference is the power, we have about twice the torque at 1200.

RE: "Not In Park" indicator on when in park...HWH Hyd. Jacks

I had the same problem on our 1999 Chieftain DP. HWH said it was a ground problem but it took three different techs before it could be run down. In my case a connector in the rear of the coach was not making good contact and the tech found it and snapped it back together. We never had another problem with it after that. Our problem was very aggravating because it was intermitten due to the loose connection it would sometimes work and sometime not. HWH was great on their 800 number in telling me what to look for. Give them a call.

RE: Toad Noise

I tow a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4X2 automatic with a drive shaft disconnect behind my class A DP. It doesn't make any strange noises after 10,000 miles. Sounds like your drive shaft may need to be balanced or the u-joints are bad.

U S Gear Unified Tow Brake Upgrade Module

Has anyone had the upgrade module added to their Unified Tow Brake? It costs about $95 and my dealer says it will take 2 hours labor to put it on. It replaces the 6001 with the new 6002 which has visual and audio alarms which activate if the toad's brakes when they shouldn't. If you have done the upgrade do you feel it is worth it and how much labor was actually involved installing it?

RE: tv converter boxes??

If your tv remote has a "." on it then it is a digital set and no converter box is necessary. You should be able to pick up broadcast digital signals from your batwing.
