Well I was told that it was done as a convenience, in that Chrysler was hearing from their customers (older ones I bet) that it is hard to remove and then tighten the gas cap properly. Remember if the cap is not tightened correctly you will get a CEL for the emissions.
So they came up with the idea of sealing the fuel door area so they could eliminate the cap. Nice idea just they some how forgot the door latch on the Ram.
Yes fish your wrong. :B I bet also the other manufactures will fallow.

Interesting. My lml and our enclave both have new caps that only tighten to one click. It's hard to describe but when right the hand grip is horizontal sort of like a two part design. Like I said its hard to describe but seems to eliminate the over tighten not tighten design.

Jim, Just want to add my congrats. On the great truck AND the wonderful wife, too. I may drive a Ford, but my wife seems to be very similar to yours when it comes to truck buying. But also to say I am not surprised that you will be in the '13. Even way back when you bought the '12, we knew how much you wanted the '13. But what I don't get is that you think you will be the guinea pig. It's not like you got the first one here. That would be MM49. But it seems he ain't talkin much anymore.
You're gunna love your truck. I'm happy for you.
Hey, I forgot about MM49, first one that got a 13' 2500HD and telling us how well mpg was with DEF, BEFORE any had been manufactured....what ever happened to him.:h
