RE: Homemade Backup Cam

I can FaceTime with mine anywhere, his has to have wifi, fortunately my router is powerful enough to put out a good signal in the driveway. Didn't work at the beach, campground wifi was so busy so the DW was re-enlisted to her backup duties!

Homemade Backup Cam

So as we were getting ready to head to the beach last weekend. I realized how aggravated I get hooking up the trailer when the golf cart is on the back of the truck. Back up a little and check, move to the right a little and check....you all know the drill. So I had an idea, borrowed my 2 year olds iPod and Facetime called my phone. Bam! Instant back up cam!

RE: charge TT batteries from tow vehicle?

Provided everything is wired correctly, it should do this anyway. One of the top prongs on the trailer wire plug is the auxillary. whichever is opposite of the tail light prong. Check your truck side with a test light or meter. If you have power, follow the wires from your light plug on the trailer, there should be one headed to the battery.

RE: Saved some $$ today

Don't plan to run them all night, just the evenings when sitting around outside, gives it a different look than all the others around you.

Saved some $$ today

So I thought about getting a "RV Glow" for having my running lights on at night in the campground along with the awning lights that DW loves. But I also wanted to get a plug saver to keep the plug off the ground/out of the weather when unhooked from the truck.
Picked up a universal RV plug female from the parts house today, a few wires and a switch later, I now have both! Plan to mount it under the batteries on the tongue, so I can plug it in when I unhook and flip the switch when I want running lights....

RE: Our "Shakedown" Weekend

Were you able to at least get a scratch and bleed a little? It is never a "REAL" camping trip unless DH needs a band-aid and a kiss to make it better ;)
Glad you were able to save the awning,
Lori
I faked a "boo-boo" just so I could get a kiss from DW!!! LOL

Our "Shakedown" Weekend

Just wanted to tell everyone about our "shakedown" weekend. We bought our first TT about 3 weeks ago. A 2004 Four Winds Express. Took the 2 hour trip down to Ocean Lakes Campground this weekend for our first adventure. We had a blast and hated to come home. I believe our 15 month old son had an even better time than us!
Had a downpour just as I was finishing getting everything set up Friday evening. Thought I had one end of the awning low enough for rain run off, but apparently not. Walked outside to the middle of the awning sagging with rain water. So genius me decided to lower one end then....BAD MISTAKE!! All the weight made the lift handle fly out of my hand and when it slammed down it busted the spring mechanism. But hey all the water came off and didn't rip the awning! So I manipulated the lock with a screw driver for the rest of the weekend. I got a little ill when all that happened cause I should have known better, but hey, things happen right.
Took the lift handle off when I got home today, found the part for 20 bucks shipped. So no big deal!
Other than that, it was a fabulous weekend at the beach, and a great first RV experience!
