Big White spot

I have a large open area on the back of the new camper. I thought an American flag would look good there. The only thing is I have not been able to find a 3' x 5' American flag decal.. Any one know where I can get one?

RE: rough start to the season

We were camping on St. Friolo island in the Mississippi at Prairie Du Chein WI. a couple of years ago. There are 2 roads on to the island. One was closed for flooding and the other one we had to watch all weekend because the river rising all week end. By the following week end the both roads were closed. Always fun camping.

RE: Has this happened to you?

Only problem I have had is a well drilling rig tried to stiff me with a $300 fuel bill. They told the cashier they were the pick up and left. It was not very hard to convince the cashier that I could not put $300 in diesel in a standard cab short box pickup.

RE: Low bridge Duck.

wny_pat First thing I did when I got the camper home was to get the ladder out with a 2x4 and a tape measure. It is 10' 4". I rented a motor home quite a while ago. The AAA trip tick was put together by an idiot. I specifically told the guy I had a high vehicle and did not want any surprises. The second day on a 10 day trip I was checking the route and i found 2 low overpasses he had set for me. I checked every day after that and every day there was at least one low bridge. Since then I always check for low overpasses when i am on a trip .

Man am I beat.

The weather was nice so It was time to do some washing. I washed and waxed the SUV, ATV and our new Camper. I don't remember the camper being that BIG at the RV show. It sure was not that big at the dealer setting next to the tri-axle fifth wheel during the PDI. How the heck did it grow? 23 Ft 2013 Ascend. My HILO never was THAT big. oh well it is done and the Aleve has kicked in. I will go to work to relax and recover.

aluminum mag wheels

The new camper has aluminum mag wheels. The hub cap is held on by 1 stainless steel screw. Do I need to put some never seize on this screw?

RE: Memories

My Wife and I are picking up our new camper tomorrow morning. We have been reminiscing all week. Tonight I remembered one of the funniest comments I have received from a non camper person. I went in to my insurance agents office to put my son on my insurance since he had just got his drivers license. The regular office girl was not there they had a tempt in. Grizz "I need to put my son on my insurance." Girl "Ok I will put him on the Palomino as his vehicle." Grizz "you can't do that it is a camper trailer." Girl "No it is not, it is listed as a RV and they need a driver." Grizz " Lady It does not have a motor in it." Girl " Does State Farm know That?"

Memories

On Friday we pick up our new Ascend camper. So we started cleaning out the old HILO camper. 11 years of memories and junk have come out of the camper. Man I never thought we could put that much stuff into a little space. Our 2 kids and 3 different dogs have put a lot of miles on that camper. Man the memories are flowing back right now.:)

I can turn the traction control off and the stability control off. They will go off automatically if I switch to 4 Low.

RE: Stabilty and traction control plus exhaust brake?

I found out one thing the other day. Some guy came into my lane on the freeway. I had to swerve to avoid him. ended up on the other side of the rumple strip with the passenger tires. When I got back in my lane the cruise was off. I did not hit the brakes. I think the stability control turned it off. Traction control will not let you do burn outs.

RE: Marathon Negotiations

I would never set in a dealership for 6 hrs to buy a vehicle. I know what I will spend for a vehicle and go in and tell the dealer what I want and what I want for the trade. we dicker over the details a little bit and I am done with in 1 hr or I get up and leave tell the dealer to call me when he wants to deal. I also tell him I am stopping at the next dealer in line on my way home. I have dealt with the same salesman for the last ten years and it has always work out for me. The last truck I bought I sent the dealer an email with what I wanted 3 emails latter we had a deal. No money down did not pay a dime time till the truck I ordered came in. I flat out refuse to play their games.

Stabilty and traction control plus exhaust brake?

After 10yrs I got a new truck. 2013 Chevy 2500hd Duramax. I now have Stability Control, Traction Control and an Exhaust Brake. So what can I expect from these 3 items that I have never had before? I also have a new TT coming but it is not here yet. How do I change my signature line to show the new rig info.

RE: Time for a new truck

One thing I did not mention I am retiring in 27 months 1 week and 1 day. This will in all probability be the last vehicle I purchase. So do I buy it now when I am working or wait and buy it when I retire? I will not sell it privately because of previous bad experiences. I have a nice bit of Heaven up in the frozen tundra and the last thing I want is outsiders coming by. Most people have no idea a home is back here and that is just the way I like it. I did the Kelley blue book buy new thing and the prices surprised me. Equipped the way I would like puts the 2012 with incentives at 40k and the 2013 at 46K.

RE: Time for a new truck

The reason I have a diesel is because the 1999 F150 I had could not safely in my opinion handle my camper. That being said the 2012 F250 interior looked cheap. The fit and finish was not on par with the Dodge or GMC. It use to be that the next year model came out it August or September. When did that change? Like I said the Dodge dealer was apologetic that the 2013 were not out yet and he did not have any brochures for them. I will look at another Ford dealer before I make a choice. I was not impressed with the ford however. It may have been a lot to do with the salesman. The thing that got me was the Dodge and Chevy /GMC dealers talked their product up and never mentioned the other guy. It seemed that almost all the ford salesman did was bad mouth the other guy.

RE: Time for a new truck

Thanks for all the responses. I had not thought of going one ton. I will now. My Duramax is now over 215000. It will need injectors soon. I have one question from fellow Northern's. How do you keep the DEF from freezing my truck spends 70% of the time outside in winter? It does get cold up here. Below zero is common and 20 below does occur. What kind of mileage do you guys get, loaded and unloaded? I stopped at the Chevy/GMC dealer first and worked my way home. I looked at a GMC because that was the closest one to the door. The salesman was professional knew his product and did not bad mouth the Dodge or Ford. The salesman said he was not mechanical but knew where everything was and was able to answer all my questions. The dodge dealer was next. The salesman was almost as good as the Chevy GMC guy. He knew his product and was apologetic that they had no 2013 literature. He also did not bad mouth the competition. The ford salesman was another story. As soon as he found out I had hit Dodge and Chevy he started bad mouthing both vehicles. He said more bad about the other guy than he said good about Ford. When I would not give him my last name or contact info the show was over. He gave a me print out on what he had in stock and no brochures on the F250 SD. I will not be back to that dealership. As far as the truck went. I expected to like the GMC and was not surprised. I also liked the Dodge. The Cummins seemed a little louder that the GMC. Both trucks were equally equipped, and were comfortable. The ford was equipped the same but it seemed lacking. It had manual locking hubs and according to the salesman that was all ford made. The seat in the ford was harder. I like Diesel. I would look at a HEMI if I could find one to do a comparison but there do not seem to be any around.
