RE: Traveling with full H20 tank Ok?

Rule-of-thumb at the dragstrip is that 100 lbs decrease is worth a tenth of a second in the quarter-mile.
That performance difference translates to around half a car length getting to 60 mph on a freeway entrance ramp.
Are you saying that I should leave the 13 second flat Mustang at home and race the van with full tanks? :p

RE: Traveling with full H20 tank Ok?

I always maintain a full tank. Never had a problem; I have the 8.1 Vortec w/ Allison tranny, a 30' motorhome and average about 10mpg.
10 mpg... I find that to be quite depressing....
And.... to get back on track.... I've never had a problem traveling with full tanks.... and, I often keep 5-6 gallons of drinking water under the rear bed.

RE: Oregon storm

Oh, that's just a typical Oregon April shower! :B
I just love being in the B, all curled up during a good storm!

RE: New (to me) camper!

Congrats on the new-to-you Xplorer! I have an '87 Xplorer Xtravan that was babied by the two owners before me. It has needed a good bit of work, because of the age of the vehicle, but "Bessie Lou" is full of character.

RE: Air Bag Suspension System for Class B Units

I have Firestone RideRite airbags on my ol' '87 Xplorer. I like them quite a bit. Really smoothed out the ride and I like being able to adjust them to the load. If I had the money at the time of install, I would have put in the air compressor you can adjust from the driver's seat.

RE: I think we'll stay home...

Heck is that all you got. We got at least twice that here in Olympia. I've had to plow the driveway and shovel walks almost every day for near a week and more is on the way. I hope all u northwestern snowbirds down South realize all the fun you are missing. We had planned to leave for Indio on the 4th after company leaves but I doubt we'll be able to get the RV out with all the snow. And now it is in doubt wether "company" will even be able to get here. Amazing.
I was in Olympia around 1995 or so for a great ice storm. We had a large forest outside our dorms.... it sounded like a war zone with all the cracking branches. Stay warm up there!

I think we'll stay home...

We've had the biggest December snow storm in 30 years. Bessie Lou is staying put for awhile! Heck, I can't even get my car out of the driveway!
Anyone else's B snowed in? Post your pics!

RE: Airstream Interstate 3500

I get the feeling these two lads have never been in an RV before.
