RE: Blind Dog

There is an excellent book called Living with Blind Dogs by Caroline Levin. It is out of print now, but Amazon has several copies available. This book was suggested to me by my vet when my dog went blind. It goes thru how to train your dog to go up and down steps on command. Be patient. It does get better. I considered putting my dog down at first as it would break my heart when my dog walked into a bush or wall. It upsets us more than it seems to upset the dog. My dog did adjust to the point he got confident enough to lope beside me and even play a soft and easy version of catch in an open area. He learned to listen for the sound of the ball hitting the, ground and locate it that way. Dogs are really quite remarkable. Good luck

RE: Gaskets around windows & doors.

We use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It is a little tedious to use as you need to scrub the gaskets with it, but it works. Don't use it on fiberglass as it is very abrasive. Prior to Mr. Clean we had tried Simple Green, 409, Spic and Span, Mildew removers and nothing else worked.

RE: What Do You Feed Your Old Horse

Wow, congratulations. I thought we were lucky with two of our guys who have reached 26 & 25. Ours get all the grass they want, alfalfa hay to supplement and Purina Active Senior.

RE: Reese goose box

We use the Reese Goose to pull our horse trailer. It works fine. To use the Goose, you should put an additional bolt in the middle of your each of your rails as the pressure applied by the Goose on the rails is different than your fifth wheel hitch. We got hooks that bolt into our rails to handle the safety chains. Not as nice as a B&W, but since we already had rails and a Reese fifth wheel hitch it made sense.

RE: Your RV breaks down... what do you do with your pets?

We have had this happen once. We have 36' ft 5th wheel pulled by our dually. Our dog rides in a safety harness and our two cats ride in a carrier in the TV. Truck broke down about 10 miles from our destination. Got truck & trailer pulled off on the side of the road. We moved the animals to the fifth wheel while we waited for the tow truck as we could run our AC w/our generator. It was middle of summer and our two cats are longhaired Ragdolls. When Tow truck arrived, animals went back in TV to ride in trailer when both were towed to our campground. Coach net had the trailer neatly set up in our site. We settled in the RV like a Nora, camping day while the tow truck hauled the truck to the dealership. Dealership arranged for rental car so we had transportation while we waited for the repairs to be completed.

RE: SAFE Lending Act

Previous posters are correct. The SAFE Act applies on to mortgage loan origination. There is no way that a RV purchaser would be affected by this Act regardless whether or not they are part time users or full time. Actually, this Act specifically addresses the Establishment of a National Registration for mortgage loan originators, establishes National Licensing requirements and Continuing Educational requirements. It does not even address underwriting criteria or loan documentation requirements. Plus it would not be applicable to an RV purchase. I would run from this dealer. If he misrepresents this, who knows what else he would misrepresent.

RE: Anybody have problem with throttle control F250 Diesel

My truck acted the same way when we went on vacation last year. NewW hit the issue with my truck dead on. It took 3 different Ford dealers to finally get to the plugged up oil cooler as the truck ran like a champ without trailer on it. With the trailer it ran okay until midday and then we got the wrench and it went into limp mode. The annoying thing was the wrench never set a code. After you shut the truck off and let it set and would start right up again and be okay until it got hot again. My truck is covered with a bumper to bumper ESP, but Ford has a whole protocol that they have to go through when it does not set a trouble code.
