RE: 2004 Coachman Freedom Speakers

Would it be possible to find the hot wire that powers the radio/CD, and wire it to where it's not on the ignition key circuit? Check on your 12V fuse panel as there may be a few sections open. I found several open ones to use on mine and connected a musical horn. My radio works all the time key on or off. Lawrosa has a great idea too. We use the AUX input with the TV, Wii, DVD player,Pandora on the smart phone, and our Bose radio to route the sound from these through the roof speakers. While driving we can have the TV on and put the sound to the back speakers so the kids can hear and we don't have to yell over the TV. Good luck.

RE: Insurance Quote

We used to have Progressive but then found 21st Century. That saved us about $600 a year. Just keep checking around and you will find the right policy for you.

RE: Replacement mattress

We recently upgraded to the Macybed Memory Foam Mattress from Macy's. So much nicer than the original spring thing. I have also noticed no stiffness in the mornings.

RE: Florida Property

Years ago when we had several hurricanes come through, I was surprised to learn that if you did not have homeowners insurance then the government (FEMA) was out cutting checks to homeowners to pay for repairs. But those who had insurance were stuck paying hurricane deductibles. Thought that was odd.....

RE: Florida Property

If looking to invest with Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, do you need to have all cash? Or if one has excellent credit can you line up financing with say 50% down?

RE: Camping at Sebastian Inlet FL State Park @ 30 amp ?

Sebastian Inlet? x10 on the bug spray. When only have 30amp available we only use the rear AC, it doesn't draw as much as the front larger AC. Great suggestion above to have fridge on gas too. FYI: If I recall, site 15 was impossible to get level backed into it. Had to change sites.

RE: changing light bulb on a master tow dolly

I replaced mine with LED's and love them. Much brighter and easier to see. They cost 5-6 times what the incandescent ones cost but I haven't had to replace every year like the old ones. Enjoy HH..

1157 Bulbs burnt out

My back up light on the driver side burnt out on our last trip. Then when moving the motor home here at the house I noticed the brake/turn signal bulb was out now too. Removed both covers to find cloudy bulbs. White coating inside the bulbs, guess this just means they just burnt out. Question is why did manufacture use the same bulb in both sockets? 1157 is a two element bulb and I cannot figure why it would have been used for the back up light? More light if both elements were lit? Any thoughts? Thinking about going to led's as I recently put them on my dolly and love the bright light that they put out.

RE: Walt Disneyworld Area park advice?

We like Themeworld much better than the KOA there. Last time at that KOA/Davenport (they also advertise Main Gate but are not near the Main Gate) there were dozens of cats that would not leave you alone. The KOA in Kissimmee is corporate owned and so much nicer than the one in Davenport.

RE: Need new spare tire carrier whinch

Would love to find something to use for my spare. Now we put it in the back of the van that we tow.

RE: Carpel Tunnel Surgery

DW had both of her's done at the same time a few years back. I can't get health insurance for her and the Doctor did both for the price of one. After several months of healing then therapy, she hasn't had a bit of problem. Hope yours goes well.

RE: Walmart and other over night stays.

Stopped at a Walmart once to go in an pick up a few items. It was about 8pm winter and already dark. Before we were out of our motor home a security guard on a golf card came up. He wanted to lead us to the "RV" parking area up at the side of the store where it was more level. We thanked him and told him we were just shopping and not staying the night. In areas where campgrounds close for the season we have had success just for an overnight stop at hospitals.

RE: Walmart and other over night stays.

We always ask. We have only stayed at a few Walmarts but the only no was in McDonough, GA, even though there were other RV's and truckers there we went down the road to a Cracker Barrel. For Cracker Barrel, you can pick up one of their fold up directories and have the address and phone numbers for their locations. Then when you pull in you can just phone and ask. Most have overnight staff if you are like us and pull in early in the AM. A campground for me would cost less as we always go in at Cracker Barrel for breakfast and Mom and kids shop. I think that the road atlas that they sell at Walmart and Sam's have a directory of their locations that allow. Check it out before you purchase it.

RE: friends need help! Billings Montana

Is the garage an RV center or just a car repair garage? When we purchased our RV our dealer was a member of the Route 66 RV Network. They told us if ever on the road and needed that we could contact a member dealer for service. In seven years we have not needed the service. If your friends are not at a RV service center have them look up Pierce RV Center in Billings. (406) 655-8000. They are one of the Route 66 network RV dealers. Also have them check their RV insurance policy. Some policies cover cost incurred when you break down or have an accident. Towing, room and even some meals.

RE: vent cover

Mine are white. A few years ago I painted them with white paint which was supposed to help protect from UV. In Florida I figured it might help. So far so good. All of the plastic white items on top of the RV that I painted white remain in good condition. Plus after painting I have noticed that they stay much cleaner than they did before painted. I'll guess it would make some difference depending on the color. Go Vols!

RE: under cabinet mount coffee maker

We use a counter top maker with a metal carafe. I have it Velcro-ed to the counter top, it works great just wish it was a 20 cup capacity as I use a 32oz coffee cup.

RE: Campground Question

Yep, I think that someone on a different shift just messed up. We have had similar things happen several times to us. Once the type of site we had reserved were all full as someone who was supposed to leave decided to stay for a few more days. So we did not have a site. That person offered to pay the difference for us to stay on a deluxe site, so we were OK with that.
