RE: CB raido for RV use

Recently picked up a brand new Cobra CB in the box at a church yard sale. It's not the newest model but was brand new. Just could not pass up the $2.00 price. Now to find a similar bargain on the zero ground plane antenna for the motor home. If anyone knows of where to find bargain antennas please let me know.

RE: Myrtle Beach KOA- need site pics

We visited there a few years back. Don't have any photos of the sites. The sites are not spacious but were enough. Nothing fancy. We did drive through some other area parks which were MUCH tighter. One campground was so packed in I wondered how people opened their doors without hitting their neighbors.... Go to map here: Map KOA MB We were on site 305. The full hook ups on the north end as well as a few others seemed to be all locals who lived there. Kids did enjoy the bouncy blow up thing there and the pool/play area was enjoyed by them too. They have a shuttle that takes you to the beach, but we preferred to drive a little north to the beach, much quieter. Hope this helps some...

Can I replace the rear fender well on my class A ?

Had a blowout that messed up the area around the rear wheels. I guess it would be considered the fender well. It is made of I think fiberglass and I was wondering if anyone has had to replace this section? In front and in back of it are basement compartments. Can I just remove this one square section and replace it with new? Haven't had the chance to get out there and tinker to see, but on Class A's it seems that it would be a fairly simple replacement. Anyone had to do this and was it an easy task? Tips and suggestions appreciated. Happy New Year!

RE: First trip, some advice wanted

We use LP while on the road but use the dash heater too. When at a campsite, we use small ceramic heaters when hooked to shore power. Save that LP! In the 20's you will eat up the LP gas. Watch for moisture build up and vent if needed. Once I was where it got down to 19 and my water froze up for a few hours, keep check on that. Also, always check tire pressure daily before pulling out. Take your time and enjoy. Good luck!

RE: good national bank?

Old-Biscuit has it above. I have been depositing checks via my banks smart phone app. Works great and is deposited into account that day if done before 9pm. No stamps!

RE: Statesboro Ga to Knoxville TN

If going over and up I-75 stop in Athens, TN and tour the Mayfield Dairy Plant. Have an ice cream cone afterwards at the ice cream shop. If going up I-26 to I-40 stop in Hendersonville, NC and see Mike at McFarlan Bakery. We always stop here and stock up. Great doughnuts too! We park on a side road then walk the town. Nice little downtown to stroll.

RE: Can I replace the LP Rubber hose myself?

When you get it replaced, use soapy water to check for leaks. Got the new metal flex hose installed this morning. It was an easy job. I then used soapy water to check and found a very small leak before the regulator. I hadn't even been working on that side of the regulator. Tightened everything up and all is well. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help. Now to head to Fort Wilderness for a week. My best, HelperZack

RE: Can I replace the LP Rubber hose myself?

Thanks everyone. Now to find the exact replacement. Mine is a Marshall Gas Controls, Model A6 Flexible Hose Connector for LP Gas. 350 PSI Max WK. Pressure.PN:426#1404 It's 42" long. This from a label that was on it. I can't find that part number to purchase anywhere. Finding anything on Marshall is a blank. Can find RV dealers who carry Marshall but nothing with this part number. They are all just like, Duh! One told me he had a hose that was 144" long......

RE: Considering Florida for Christmas .. need your advise

Check out Reserve America for the state parks. We love them. Winter time can be a bit difficult the further South you go. Many snowbirds will stay 2 weeks on one account and credit card, then reserve the next two weeks on a different account/card. And do this alternating for several months tying up the State Park camping sites. Thus technically they feel that they are not misusing the 2 week limit. I don't like them taking over the parks but what can you do? Welcome!

Can I replace the LP Rubber hose myself?

I found that my rubber LP gas hose was crimped and causing problems with water heater, furnace and stove. When I finally tracked down the problem and straightened the hose all was working just fine. Can I replace that hose myself? It appears to be threaded on both ends. Are LP gas connectors threaded backwards? Left to tighten and Right to loose? Seems I heard that sometime. Also, do you use teflon tape on the connectors like a water connection? Many thanks for help and suggestions.

RE: Water Heater, could it be the Thermostat or ECO problem?

Finally had time to get out and research this problem some more. After going over everything on the water heater I proceeded to determine that the furnace would not light either. Then I went to check the stove. Well it lit but would only work with a very small flame, no high. Worked my way back to and found a kink in the flexible hose that comes off the LP tank and connects to the lines on the motor home chassis. Straightened this hose and everything is working as normal. I think it may have gotten kinked when I had a blow out on the way home last camping trip as my LP tank is directly behind my R rear wheels. Now to order a new hose. I did not find any problem once straightened but I'll feel a bit better with a new one. Are the gas hoses threaded backwards? Thanks everyone for all the suggestions, I have learned much from this episode.

RE: 32" Wiper Blade Replacement

Most of us have used the 28" blade, which is readily available and inexpensive, as the replacement. Those 2" top and bottom will not be noticeable and for the cost savings, it is the way to go. This is what I did also. Mine did not fit exactly on the arm, so I used small brass nut/bolt just to insure that they stay. Done this for several years now. I think I got blades for around $4.99, can't hardly beat that.

Water Heater, could it be the Thermostat or ECO problem?

Recently posted about my Atwood gas water heater #G6A-8E. It lights (like a pilot light) but no forceful flame to heat. I think that because it lights that rules out a problem with the circuit board and the thermal cut off. Followed all of the clean out of everything that everyone suggested, still no forceful flame. Could it be the Thermostat or the ECO that needs replaced? I think that these control the valve? Does anyone know how to test these items? Suggestions welcomed and appreciated.

RE: Atwood Water Heater lights, but no forceful flame.

Can't ID the flame as the sun is directly on that side. Will check it after dark this evening. DIL said that the water was just barely warm, not the usual super hot. I'll try running rag on a wire through everything that will allow. Thanks. Keep suggestions coming just in case.

Atwood Water Heater lights, but no forceful flame.

I have a Atwood gas water heater in the motor home and when my son and DIL were using, it stopped heating the water. Today I opened it up, cleaned the spark probe and blew out the unit with compressed air. When I turn on the switch inside I can hear the spark probe ticking and it lights and appears to stay lit. But I do not get the forceful burning flame that I normally got when it was working normally. Any ideas? Gas valve? Circuit board? Help or suggestions always appreciated.

Ask for a discount when buying parts from your dealer.

Went by my dealer today to pick up a new motor for our steps. The price listed on the item was at 10% off what they say was the list. As the nice fellow was ringing up my order he gave me the total. I asked if they gave any discounts to people who had purchased their RV's from them. Yes they do. He asked when I purchased my unit and then proceeded to subtract another 10%. That made it less than the best price I had found it on line, and I didn't have to wait on shipping. I was happy that I had asked.

RE: Reserve America web site ?

I have been in a ranger's office when he has received a call to reserve a spot. He turns to his computer and logs onto RA. Of course he will know more about his park, but he is using the same system that we use.
