RE: Rec Rewards Credit Card

I would bet we would be surprised at how many don't read the fine print and apply for every card they get an offer. Local Cumberland Farms has a Smart Card, it links to your account and debits. And you get .10 cents a gallon off with no limit. Trying to use it instead of credit card. Maybe someone here may know of a CC that has a good offer too.

RE: HELP! Insurance expiring Oct 1st

Also check 21st Century. They saved me a ton over Progressive when I changed. Very good service so far when needed.

RE: Front Dometic A/C just ticks when I turn it on.

Hey Chris, You had it. When we went to leave the campground I unplugged from shore power and cranked up the generator. Well, no power on the front AC. I remembered your suggestion and checked the breakers on the generator. One was tripped. Flipped it back on and all is well. Wondering what might of caused it to trip in the first place. Maybe I accidentally started the generator with the AC unit in the ON position? Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I appreciate the help.

RE: Camping World, must be pre qualified to look?

Okay children. I received a nice email from the GM there explaining that they have high traffic there to include many foreigners who have no interest at all in buying an RV. So they place the signs on most of their units to hold down wear and tear. The end.

Camping World, must be pre qualified to look?

We visited the Camping World in Kissimmee this afternoon. They have remodeled the store since my last visit and have a few RV's inside like a show room. I think Le Mesa must be pushing this idea here in Florida as they have an indoor showroom with I think around 50 units inside. Anyway, DW wanted to look at the three Class A's that they had inside. We got to look at one. Then went to the second one, well, it was sold so they were not allowing anyone in to look. I can understand that. Then went over to the next one and there is a sign stating that you must be "Pre Approved" in order to look inside. I guess next we can expect that they will start charging admission to look? When it's time to "move on up" can you guess where I won't feel welcomed to look?

RE: Thousand Trails Membership

There are a few on ebay. Pricing varies. A couple of them have an asking price or best offer.

RE: Bose radio in motorhome

That's exactly what we do. Our Bose Wave sits on the dash and you have a remove to operate it. Sounds better than the dash radio anyway. If it's cd's that the kids want to listen to while on the road, I use the Aux jack and run it through the dash radio and put it on the back speakers. It goes into the house with us when we are at home. DW and I sing with the praise band at our church so lots of times when on the road we are singing away with instrumental cd's on our Bose. We love our Bose. Good quality stuff. We even use their ear buds for when we sing at church. Oh almost forgot. Check out their outlet stores. A bit of a discount.

RE: Front Dometic A/C just ticks when I turn it on.

50 amp service. Well we arrived at the campground and I plugged up. Tried once and just a tick. Tried second time and it started. Worked just fine since. May check the generator to see about any breakers back there. Thanks for the suggestions, hopefully it's OK now. Happy Camping Weekend!

Yep. Tried cycling the breaker on/off...

Front Dometic A/C just ticks when I turn it on.

Just went out and powered up the generator to cool down the MH. The back A/C works fine but my front A/C will just click once when I flip the switch to on. Does the same thing if I move the thermostat down, like trying to make the A/C start. Just a click, no fan. Checked the circuit breaker, OK. Is there a fuse somewhere in the A/C unit itself that I could check. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

RE: Installed LED tail/brake/turn on back. What an improvement!

Thanks conceptumator. Something to check into. Would be very easy to add a light under MH to accomplish this, maybe colored lights. Heck might start some new fad doing it....

RE: new place to boondock?

We have only been rv'ing since 2007, but have never been asked to move on. Heck, one WalMart we pulled into at about 10pm to shop, as we got stopped and ready to go in the security guard drove up in his golf cart. He wanted to let us know that the area up around to the side was much more level and that is where all of the rv'ers stayed. I explained we were just shopping and would be back on the road in a little while. Right nice of him.

RE: new place to boondock?

Haven't thought about that. Have stopped at a hospital which was close to the interstate. I figured they were open all night. Made a phone call to security asking if OK and the guy was super nice. He told me he used to drive an 18 wheeler and understood finding a place to stop. He even directed me as to which entrance would put me in a lot on the far side of the hospital from the ER.

RE: How much hassle to hook up a car dolly?

About 15 minutes here too. I have a rubber foam knee pad to kneel on, I think it came from the garden department at the store. Have never had the need to lay down while attaching the dolly or vehicle. At campgrounds I normally get a long pull through site, then you don't even have to disconnect the dolly. After a few uses you will get the hang of it and even know exactly where your tires need to be lined up. I hang my head out the drivers window when entering onto the ramp so to see my exact spot. On the straps, mine were folded over and sewn together on the very end. That made it a bit difficult when trying to thread it through the ratchet. I unraveled the sewn in thread, then unfolded and heated the end with my heat gun for a flat edge (no fold) much easier now.

RE: Blowout, bad and good luck

Glad you were OK. My MH came with those same Goodyear tires/size and I WAS NOT impressed with them and will not buy GY. I was very surprised once when a front tire blew out as handling was very easy and smooth. But I didn't have the cruise on. Ours did not come with a spare but after being stranded on a Sunday morning and only one local guy having a replacement tire and asking $979.00 for it. We got a spare to carry. That Sunday I ended up taking our toad, driving 1.5 hours north to get a replacement tire for $160, then driving back south 1.5 hours to get back to the MH. The things we go through to relax and have fun.. :)

Installed LED tail/brake/turn on back. What an improvement!

Today DW and I replaced the rear tail/brake/turn 1157 bulbs on the back of the MH with 4" 10 diode LED's. Pulled out the old lens and bulb socket and these new lights fit right into place with the black rubber grommet. What an improvement! The LED's are so much brighter even in the day time. A year or so back I used these to replace the lights on my tow dolly and really like them. Plus they come with a lifetime warranty. Thinking I should have done this long ago. So if you are considering, go right ahead, I am sure you will be pleased.

RE: Using the gas for 1st time info

If it were me, I would check for leaks by filling a spray bottle with heavy dish washing soap and water and spray EVERY line and connection to check for leaks. With the tank valve open but everything else turned off. I recently replaced the rubber hose from my tank to my line with a flexible metal hose. I like metal better than rubber. Or as suggested above, have a professional check it out. Don't want to find any leaks the hard way.

RE: Broke a faucet handle... Replace handle or faucet?

I replaced the kitchen faucet in our RV a while back. Did not get the "RV" type, just went to Lowe's and picked up one. I feel the ones made for home are a bit higher quality. The new one works so much easier than the "RV" one that came new ever did. Very happy with the replacement. I think you will likely be happier with a new one too.

RE: 2004 Coachman Freedom Speakers

Would it be possible to find the hot wire that powers the radio/CD, and wire it to where it's not on the ignition key circuit? Check on your 12V fuse panel as there may be a few sections open. I found several open ones to use on mine and connected a musical horn. My radio works all the time key on or off. Lawrosa has a great idea too. We use the AUX input with the TV, Wii, DVD player,Pandora on the smart phone, and our Bose radio to route the sound from these through the roof speakers. While driving we can have the TV on and put the sound to the back speakers so the kids can hear and we don't have to yell over the TV. Good luck.
