RE: Eternabond cleanup

Edges can be cleaned with acetone or mineral spirits, just apply with a rag and don't pour directly on the rubber roof. It will not hurt the Eternabond. Website recommends applying a thin bead of sealant along the edges to seal them. They have their own "M-1 sealant" I have used dicor lap sealant successfully. Also states it keeps the edges from lifting in the wind. Never have seen that happen, don't want to.

RE: DIY, cheap repair for torn vinyl roof?

You'll find the roof is probably EPDM, (sheet rubber) and the most durable repair is Eternabond tape. Clean the area where the tape will be applied. The tape adhesive is very strong so use care when placing it. Once it touches down that's where it going to stay... Eternabond Tape Bestmaterials has the best price I've found, but RV dealers or Camping World also have it. Silicon adhesives will not hold on the rubber roof and will insure nothing else will stick to the rubber...If you want to seal the edge of the tape or around fixtures there is a lap sealant made for rubber EPDM roofing. Hope this helps and welcome to RVnet....

RE: New tire psi question...

The tire manufacturers factor in the expected pressure change when determining the cold inflation pressure. The listed pressure is the minimum required to support that load. The figures quoted for the relation between speed and weight capacity are very optimistic. In the Michelin Tire Manual, (Page 10) the chart shows that at 11-20 mph there is a 17% increase in load capacity if tire pressure is increased by 15psi over the maximum. An 8000 pound rated tire could carry 9360 pounds. Michelin Truck Tire Manual This procedure of carrying additional weight above rated load is for heavy truck and bus tires, it is not mentioned as a viable option for RV tires.

RE: New tire psi question...

goufgator: Try increasing the cold inflation pressure to 90 psi, and then check the increase after driving. If they do not increase as much it would indicate your tires were slightly underinflated. However: Since the only pressure recommended is based on cold inflation, checking pressure after running (by the book more than 1 mile) has no reference so most don't check it. No idea what it should be.... I also check the tire temp with an IR gauge. I look for a temperature that is noticeably different from the other tires. My 22.5 Goodyears run 100-115 degrees in cool weather, I have seen the tires at 130 degrees, 100 degree day on fresh blacktop interstate. I don't think your pressure increase is a concern, You could ask the tire mfgr. I would not lower the pressure below the recommended. You should not lower the pressure in a hot tire, will be underinflated. Here is Michelin article on RV tires, from MH magazine. Page 40 shows that tire pressure can increase 15 degrees in normal use.. RE: 460 exhaust manifolds

Had a 1990 MH, John Deere chassis with Ford carburetted 460. Replaced exhaust manifolds in 1996. Ford has re-designed the manifolds several times over the years. New one Mounted without gaskets or RTV. The bolts holes were elongated with washers under the bolt heads. Allowed the manifold to expand and contract without shearing the bolts or damaging the head, and helped transfer the heat. When my manifold warped, it sheared 4 out of 7 bolts and when I removed it and tried to install a copper gasket, the manifold would not go back on because it was warped so much the holes no longer lined up. I was lucky it did not crack the heads..Didn't warp the flat surface, it actually curled toward the exhaust flanges... Anyway see if Ford can get the newer design manifolds, my problem never returned over the next 5 years. (trade-in in 2001.)

RE: You can can dry camp at Walmart for free.

ALWAYS reply to "do a search". No sense being helpful when you can be sarcastic or rude, right? . Apparently there are more ego points in sarcasm or derailing a thread than being helpful, and you actually lose points by moving on.

RE: You can can dry camp at Walmart for free.

At issue here is someone who is seriously short on knowledge feeling the need to educate the world. Folks really need to be careful not to do that. Unfortunately there's too much free unsolicited advice in this world. There's no stupid questions, but you do need to be careful before you start spewing lame advice. Thanks for the advice..

2324delk and atomlinson: Thanks: That echo seems to be more common lately. I'm sure that "Didcha use the Search Function before posting" comment has been posted many more times than any mention of Walmart camping. There are still many helpful folks here, once you get past that mess.

RE: New tires differant PSI??

Here's the Load and Inflation pressure chart for the Goodrich 245/70R19.5 LRG (Load Range G) Should be the same for all tires in this size. Select Load & Inflation A good procedure is to weigh each corner, use air pressure for the highest weight on each axle, (always same pressure on both tires on an axle) and add 5 psi to that pressure. I also raised my front tires by an additional 5 psi and the handling improved... Much better than going to the max sidewall pressure. Overinflated ties have less contact patch on the road, ride rough and may affect handling. Hope this helps.

Here is the Medicare website for Part D which is drug coverage and the coverage gap. (donut hole). Medicare & Part "D" With the changes in the Affordable Care Act, (ObamaCare)-- charges, coverages and limits are changing, and of course it has always been hard to follow.

RE: Replacement Tire sizes

9R22.5 using the numbers from the tire guide: Minimum dual spacing varies with rim width: 6" rim...9.8 inch spacing 6.75"....10.1 inch 7.5".....10.4 inch All the info from the calculator is in the tire guide, just need to manually extract it..

RE: Replacement Tire sizes

When you look up a particular tire specs, it will give you the approved rim size, diameter, width, minimum dual spacing, revs per mile and inflation pressure for various loads. Dual spacing varies with tire size and rim dimensions; 235/80 22.5 needs 10.6 inches 275/80R22.5 needs 12.3 inches inch. Rim offset is based on the individual rims. My Mh uses an Accuride 22.5" rim with 6.44 inch offset, dual spacing is 12.88 inch...

RE: Replacement Tire sizes

Dual spacing is determined by rim offset. In the drawing, measure from the center of the tread on each tire. This will give your spacing. (you can see this if you continue the dotted lines up to the tread) Actually if you measure between the same points on each tire it's the same. HDS is Half dual spacing or rim offset.. http://www.mullins.com.au/Images/ttw-rk-spacingdisc.gif height=500 width=500 ------------ To check a new tire size, plug into this calculator to see the difference in diameter, speedometer and spacing etc..Tire Size comparison

RE: May want to stay away from this place

A different view- --1st post--."service animals are allowed public access as long as they are in compliance with the ADA laws, rules and regs. 2nd post; "When a service dog has its vest on" AND "no one is allowed to ask WHAT your condition is or ask for your medical records. PERIOD! Op indicates she was aware of the ADA regulations and in compliance. Also that the dog had it's vest on and-- if she was in compliance it had the required I.D. tag. No argument about providing your medical records.- unless you go with the reply "why not give them what they want" So 6 pages of criticism with a bare minimum of facts and I'll bet we can't resolve this problem... The OP hasn't returned, probably figured out they didn't need any more help. We certainly don't know the RV Park side of the story...

Scott, Can I throw another good one into the mix... Greg Peck in Twelve O'clock High.
