RE: Am I losing my seat?

I have a 2002 Ford F-250 Crew Cab. The rear bench seat did not fold and did not have head rests. The seat is removable without taking a door off. It just unbolts and slides out. I found rear seats on Ebay out of a 2008 Ford. They fold up and it was a direct bolt in. Plus I now have rear head rests.

RE: Strange Interaction Between 4WDSwitch and A/C

I have an 02 F-250 with the same problem. Like everyone said it is a vacuum leak. I found on the Internet how to diagnose. My leak appears to be in the hub. So I plugged the hoses going to and coming from the hub. No more leak however I have to use the dial on the hubs to engage 4WD. Not a problem for me since I seldom use the 4WD.

School Me on a Palomino Truck Camper

I'm a 5th wheel guy but I have a few truck camper questions. I saw a Palomino Truck Camper for sale and had a few questions before I email the seller. The unit is presently installed on a Toyota and it appears that he is using the stake pockets as tie downs. Is this ok for a light weight camper? Also I can not see any evidence of jacks or the plates. It has to have jacks correct? At least 3 and 4 is more better. I don't know the year or model number yet.

RE: Upgrading to 50 amp

I understand that a 50 amp coach has two legs coming in which are both hot. If you have a 50 amp coach and use an adapter to plug into a campground that only has 30 amps, is only one leg hot? Or is one leg split into two in the adapter and both sides of the breaker box in your rig are hot?

RE: Toilet seal not holding

I had a class C motorhome that did that. Mineral deposits were keeping the bowl from holding water. I put a half inch of CLR in the bowl which dissolved the deposits and I was good to go, if you know what I mean. :)

RE: Satellite Hookup to 5er

If I remember correctly, you install the jumper if you are using park cable. If you are using satellite then remove jumper and use the in to your receiver in and out from your receiver out. Of course this advice is only as good as my memory.

RE: Broken Lippert Trailair

The Dexter kit was a direct bolt on. It appears to be topnotch and the shackle plates are much thicker. I saw a tip on the Internet and had my mechanic install the kit with all of the zerks facing toward the center of the trailer. That way I can crawl underneath and grease all of the fittings without having to remove any wheels. Here is a picture of one of the Trailair components. You can see that it is starting to split.

Here is a shot of the other side. Most of the break was hidden behind the spring hanger.

This is the installed Dexter. My trailer had started making all kinds of squeaking noises and now there are none.

Broken Lippert Trailair

I was going to adjust the brakes on my 5th wheel, when I noticed that the Trailair component was breaking at the weld. The axles are 4400 lbs. Is the Dexter EX Flex kit a direct bolt on, assuming I order the correct part? How hard is this to change myself? Jack up one side of the frame at a time I assume? Really don't want another Trailair if it only last four years. Thanks, Mike

RE: What Wheels?

I also needed to raise my 5th wheel a bit and wanted better tires. I took my rig to Discount Tires. I went from 15 inch ST tires to 16 inch LT tires. I ended up with BFG Commercial T/A's and new shiny Aluminum rims. They actually worked with me and installed two different sized tires so we could check for proper clearance.

RE: Air Conditioning

This happened to me last year 4th of July, Texas, hotter than you know what. The campground was full and the breaker in the RV would trip. My friend in the next site had trouble with the breaker on the pedestal. What happens when voltage drops is amps go up and stuff trips. We both had 30 amp rigs. We used adaptors and switched to the 50 amp outlet and no more problems. There are alot more 30 amp rigs than 50 amp.

My hitch is a Reese Signature Series Sliding Hitch. This is what my bed looks like after removing the hitch and inserting the rubber plugs.

Just my 02 cents, but I prefer one that has a four way swivel head and is completely removable. http://inlinethumb49.webshots.com/48112/2999028980048481181S500x500Q85.jpg

RE: Honda EU3000I or 2 Yamaha EF2000is Generator

I've camped with a Honda 3000 and I now have two Honda 2000's. The 3000 is awesome and very quiet. However, it is a beast to lift in and out of the truck, especially when full of gas. I don't believe that the 3000 has a built in fuel pump. The two Honda 2000's are louder than the 3000. However they are much lighter when moving them around. They also have built in fuel pumps and work very well with an additional fuel tank to extend their run time. In addition, when we tailgate in the fall, and we don't need air conditioning, we only run one 2000. More economical.
