RE: Recommend campground for a month stay

Nice park with winter rates. All the work campers here like it so well many of them have stayed here for over a year. It's our go to place when heading to the beach.

RE: Stabilty question...

When one of our girls rolls over in her bunk at night I feel a wiggle up in our bed up front -
x2! Here is what I did to eliminate all the movement in out TT except for a small amount of up and down "bounce" from the suspension.
1. X-chocks got rid of about 80% of the fore and aft movement. It was a huge difference.
2. Installed BAL Lock Arm Stabilizers on all 4 scissor jacks (No welding required). I did not want to buy a set of two for each jack so I bought 2 sets (4) and installed them as follows. On the rear I installed one bar on the street side (side with hook ups) jack going from the foot of the jack to the frame in the middle of the TT. On the opposite side I installed the bar from the foot to the frame forward towards the axle. Did the same thing on the front, just opposite corners. This gave side to side and fore and aft stabilization on both ends.
The only movement I have now is a little bounce with heavy walkers or the kids are playing. I think I can eliminate that with another set of jacks mounted just forward of the axles. May try that next year. Watch the video on the lock are bars in the link above.

RE: Those who don't use WD hitch and Sway Control

Cranking that thing up and down in the heat down here was going to be the death of me. It's not such a great ride home either sweating like a pig after working that thing in the CG when leaving.
I know thats right! Forgot my drill for the scissor jacks one trip. Had to stop by the bath house for a shower on the way out!

RE: Vintage RV's. This is a great collection!

Thanks for sharing. What a cool website! I love how they used real wood and quality craftsmanship then. Some of them look more like the inside of a sailboat than they do a TT. Beautiful.
This statement is obviously not the case today.

RE: Fire Escape Window in Master Bedroom

We also added a fire suppresser in the fridge compartment...if a fire starts that's likely where it will be, especially in a fiver. What is that?
It is a Halon, temperature activated extinquisher which is permanently mounted in the rear of the reefer...If I remember correctly it will go off at 265 degrees and immediately snuff out any fire.
Got it from Mac the Fire Guy at a rally, and it is rechargeable...luckily we haven't needed it so far. Wasn't cheap, but I sure sleep easier at night.
While I am sure that the amount of Halon used in that thing is a small amount, don't be near it when it goes off. It puts fire out by displacing all oxygen in the immediate area. In a big enough discharge, it would displace the oxygen in your lungs and suffocate you.

I have USAA insurance....
I have USAA to. Although they just sub their RV insurance out to Progressive.

RE: Wipes in the Black Tank????

They may help keep the tank clean and the sensors working. I'm going to start using some real rough ones.
Nope, mine still reads 1/2 full 1 or two days into camping, with or without wipes. When I put Calgon in an almost empty tank it reads full. Go figure.

RE: Confused about what I need to hook up a 5ver

A pin box is the metal structure on the front of the 5er, shaped like a rectangle box, with the hitch pin mounted on the bottom. An air ride pin box will have an air bag like device between the pin and the trailer to soften the ride.

RE: Forum Trolls

Maybe it's me but I can't stand trolls who just join this forum and then post all day long, often, sabotaging threads by arguing over stuff that has no relevance to the original post. It really detracts from the forum and just makes it less fun to be on here.
How else are we supposed to achieve that coveted "Senior Member" status?;)

RE: Wipes in the Black Tank????

I use them for my kids sparingly. I just make sure the black tank is full before dumping, even if I have to add water through my flush port. Then I fill the tank full of water two or three times and dump again until I no longer see anything but clear water come through the clear elbow on the dump hose. No issues yet.

RE: Fire Escape Window in Master Bedroom

"see that fire extinguisher? Remember it, because in the event of a fire, you want to run right past it, out the door."
Lol! That little thing would struggle putting out a match.I put a 5lb. multi purpose dry chemical near our bedroom and entry door. It should at least clear a path for us to get out if we should ever need it. Can never have too many smoke detectors. Except when the battery is about to die at 2AM and they start that every few second beep.

RE: Cumming, GA to Tallahassee, FL thru Atlanta

Ahh yes, Atlanta. One of the few places in the country where there are 5 to 6 narrow and twisty lanes, completely full of cars, and if you are doing 75 mph, you are holding up traffic. I have to agree with just shooting down the interstate through the middle of town. Unless its rush hour or there is an accident, travel time is quite short to get through.

I have read a bunch on the 6.0 but I am also curious about the 6.4. No one seem to have chimed in on that one yet.

RE: Dothan Al Info

Walmart on 231 South - smaller parking lot, I probably wouldn't. Not because of safety but noise.
Walmart on 231 North side of town - big lot, seen overnighters there many times.
Flying J - seen overnighters there too. Lots of big rig parking. Area is safe.
Camping World - area is good.
If you are a member of the Elks Lodge, I have seen overnighters there.
There are a couple of campgrounds on the south side of town. I don't really know much about them. If I had a bigger driveway I would hook you up.

Good thing you got it fixed. With all the rain yesterday and today, you might have to put pontoons on it to get it out.

Maybe I am missing something but it sounds like you figured out your problem according to the above statement. I agree that it could be a tire to big for the wheel.

RE: Ford Expedition Air Suspension Question

Never mind. I completely mis read the manual. States to start vehicle and let it level out. Turn air suspension off. Take measurements and install hitch. Hook up trailer and ensure the front does not rise more than 1/2 inch. Turn air suspension on. Guess I should have read that more carefully.
