I thought you two found your niche in life as RV park owners, gonna miss ya!
Keep the map!

RE: Toll road insurance claim

Three winters ago, my windshield was cracked by a van that passed us, with a good sized rock. We were between Celestino and Mazatlan. We went to the toll both entering Mazatlan. I was directed to an office in the building next to the tolls. There I explained what happened and showed my toll receipt. I was told to wait for a Insurance adjuster. They are mobile and he happened to be close by so only waited about half hour for him to arrive. I filled out the paper work for a claim after explaining to him what happened. He told us to wait out side and he was going to review and make a call. He came out about 20 minutes later and asked if we were in a construction zone when it took place. I said no, he then told me that they only cover that kind of damage when construction is going on that part of the road. @!#|
None of the people I met with spoke English, but I am sure that if I didn't speak Spanish that they would have found someone to translate.
I believe you pay for the road you have traveled?

RE: Paying Traffic Tickets at OXXO

qtla why would you even mention bribery in the U.S.? You seem to have lots of problems when negative things are said about Mexico, and try to put down the U.S. Yet you seem to still travel into the States. Why? I love Mexico for what it is. Mexico's Government, military and police cannot even be compared to what the U.S. has and stands for. And please don't tell me you live there and you know more than I do, because I'll put my knowledge of Mexico up against yours anytime.

RE: Navarro's Paint Shop Los Algodones, Mexico

There are many things to consider when one is painting a vehicle. I too have had touch ups "away from the border" I am not new to Mexico and now there are good painters other than at the border. BUT when I had my RV painted it was painted in a booth, much different than an outside paint job. It took five weeks to complete. It was completely stripped of all outside attachments, lights, ladder, awning, etc. Two coats of primer, and three coats of clear.
Paint is another big factor, there is a very inexpensive Mexican paint and then there is a jump up to Dupont, I used R-M solvent based paint and it is not cheap.
After having it painted I kept pints of all colors, reducer, hardner, and clear, so I could have touch ups done as needed. .
Navarros caters to North of the border customers and have painted countless RV's and are good at it. They have an upholstery shop and mechanics booth.
Our HHR was hit by another vehicle, here the estimate was $1,600.00 to repair. I will have it done at Navarros for about $400.00.
In the next couple of days I will try to post some before and after pics.

RE: Navarro's Paint Shop Los Algodones, Mexico

I have an appointment for the 18th of Feb.
The cell number I gave prior has been changed here are two good Arizona numbers.
928-239-8906 and 928-328-1114
The Mexican number has not changed.
Enrique and Socorro Navarro are the owners.
I highly recommend them.

T.T. is correct, I use Vagabundos Del Mar. BUT you still have to have it stamped and answer the questions at the Aduana.

RE: Night driving

No mention of RVer's and I know this type of post always stirs controversy, but I as one who travels constantly to all parts of Mexico like being informed especially of things that don't make it to the media.

Night driving

Just had some friends visit, my friends wife is from Guadalajara. We were talking about my travels to Mexico and she told me a story that happened to her Dad (Abellino) and some family members this Aug.
Her Dad also lives in Calif. they were in a suburban traveling to visit family in Guadalajara. They left their hotel room in Mazatlan just before dawn. At the first toll both Abellino thought the attendant asked some unnecessary questions and seemed a little suspicious.
Not more than a few minutes away from the toll booth red lights were pulling them over, as they slowed down a truck pulled in front of them and cut them off. Dressed as Federales they pulled Abellino out of the car and another Federally took his place, he had a hand gun. A cousin in the back seat started to yell at the man and was hit with the pistol.
They drove them away off the highway onto a remote road. There were at least ten other vehicles there and more men dressed as Federales. They proceeded to go through their belongings and take what they wanted.
The other vehicles had been pulled over and taken there during the night. All were robbed and made to wait there. After Abellino's group was robbed all the men left and told the victims not to leave for one hour and not to report it because they have their personal info and Mexican families info.
I know this family pretty well, Abelino served in the Mexican military when he was young man. He believes the toll booth attendant would relay info to the robbers.

RE: Navarro's Paint Shop Los Algodones, Mexico

I had my RV stripes painted there and highly recommend them. I also am returning this Feb. to take a car to have some body and paint work done.
Here is their Arizona #928-343-2750 and Mex #011-526-585177746
Do not use the other shop, Amador's if he is still in business. His work is not as good as Navarros. He started ripping off customers due to some heavy debt.
I have cabinet and upholstery contacts, if you are interested
