RE: The Emotions in a TC

This last weekend confirmed once again the ease of driving & maneuvering a TC. The quick pit stops even on the main path (I-90) were easy & fun! Attending an event in Big Sky Country with my friends wouldn't have been possible without the TC. http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad72/jamminalong/Lance%20Squire%20Lite/IMG_2031_zps7ceb0789.jpg height=380 http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad72/jamminalong/Lance%20Squire%20Lite/IMG_2024_zpsffea6beb.jpg height=380 http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad72/jamminalong/Lance%20Squire%20Lite/20130614_162418_zps41f60b02.jpg height=380 http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad72/jamminalong/Lance%20Squire%20Lite/20130614_154508_zpse94fecb2.jpg height=380 http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad72/jamminalong/Lance%20Squire%20Lite/20130614_153843_zps45b79cd4.jpg height=380

Great diversity with your pics! Thanks for sharing. Camper_Jeff said it right...It's been a bad year for losing folks on the forum! Best of luck to you in your new chapter. And as Tom Bodett says, We'll leave the light on for ya! (and guarantee no bed bugs should you decide to come back, LOL!)

RE: Replaced the table with reclining loveseat

Great job! Definitely something to think about for a future renovation should we get the urge. At $160 that's a nice find.

RE: The Emotions in a TC

Thanks Everyone for the great responses. Just got back from another fantastic campout fishing for walleye. No bites again (river's still rising) but regardless I had a grin on my face the entire weekend. Oh and we already started the 3rd generation in the TC. Had my 1 yr old grandson join me for the day and it was quite fun jumping on the bed, rolling around in the cabover, LOL!! We talked a lot this weekend about all the wonderful memories we'll make with him in a few years when he's old enough to understand.

RE: Public Opinion needed on AC Unit

Absolutely install the A/C. We've already used ours twice in the last month. The other option would be to install a Fantastic Fan. It's cheaper & quieter but when it's hot it's still HOT! I just wouldn't be without an A/C. For us it's a requirement. And I agree about the $17 heater from Walmart.

RE: The S&S Restore/Update/Repair Thread

I know its been forever since I posted in this thread...............so. I believe that its time to cut our losses with the S&S. We have used it a lot this past couple of years and it appears that there is a leak in the roof around the AC that I never found during the "big" repair. Now the roof is showing that the roof paneling under the vinyl/plastic paper that they covered it in is starting to come apart from rot. At this point the 'ol S&S isn't worth the time and effort to tear the roof off, remove all the roof joists, and replace the ceiling panels and any joists that I find to be rotted. We will continue to use it till it starts having structural issues, then it will be parted out and recycled accordingly. She has served us well over the past couple of years and I think she has 1 big run left in her. So we will be going on vacation in her this year for the last time. A moment of silence please.............................. I had a moment of silence in Ol'Red's honor. I'm sorry to see the corner windows fade off into the sunset just like the oval & split windows of the VW era! Please pass them on to some lucky soul as those will become vintage with time. Have fun on your new adventure!!

RE: BBQ grill

Just picked up the Weber Q 120, looks like it should fit the bill. It's 15" tall and just fits into my Yakima Skybox along with all the other cr*p I have up there. Paid $164.00 at Lowes Yep that's the one we got too! Baby Q 120 w/stand. Already in the TC ready for this weekend!

RE: Boondocking around the Four Corners area-W/ JEEP IN TOW????

Back in the day we did some boondocking with our camp group in the Mogollon area. Loved it between Payson and Heber just off hwy 260. Always reminded me of my home area Eastern Washington/Idaho. The drive from Payson through Pine & Strawberry was fun too! Have a great time and we'd love a trip report....:B

RE: The Emotions in a TC

I recently experienced truck problems with my F-350 DRW 6.0 diesel..... To the tune of almost a $2000 repair bil. My wife and I had a discussion about trading the truck for a 1/2 ton, selling the TC and going back to a fifth wheel, althought smaller than the 37' that we had previously. My 12 year old son apparently heard our conversation and when I couldn't find him a short time later I looked in the garage. He was out there sitting by himself crying. When I finally got out of him what the problem was, he told me he didn't want to sell the TC. I asked him why keeping the TC was so important to him..... It was the father/son weekend fishing trips, towing the bike trailer with us, and generally all the things that he said we couldn't do if we went back to a fifth wheel. Needless to say, after a deep conversation with him, the $2000 repair bill was paid and we are heading out on a 12 day adventure next week........ In our TC!!! Great story! That's exactly how I felt but without the tears; however, my feathers were sure ruffled. I was very surprised how much emotions the thought evoked from within. Thanks for the replies everyone! I know we all have the best RV wrapped up in a tiny box. Who knows what the future holds but for now this is where I'll stay.

RE: BBQ grill

I swear by my Weber Baby Q. Best propane grill I've ever used. I really like the cast iron grill; keeps food hot and sears steaks great. Cooks fish perfect too; I can toss a gutted bass on there, flip it twice and it's ready to eat. No sticking, no filleting, not even scale the fish. Just gut and toss on the preheated cast iron. Got mine off Amazon for about $150. The lid comes off with a couple pins and clips if you need to separate them for storage. Cleans up very easy. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41juuGovHzL._SX355_.jpg BUMP!! Just got the Baby Q and LOVE IT!! I was always curious from reading the positive reviews and now I got to say this is the best bbq grill we've owned. Love the compact size too! We don't eat a ton of red meat so chicken is our go to... I get the individual breasts from Costco. Clean them up at home, marinate in a ziploc in the refer and they're ready to use on our weekend campouts. Don't have to worry about raw chicken in the kitchen.

The Emotions in a TC

I thought I'd share my thoughts (and our conversations) over these last few days... The other half mentioned really wanting to sell the TC and get a small trailer. Why? Because of the cons of owning our TC. Bathroom too small to shower in, truck not available for dump runs/daily driver, lack of storage. The talk was maybe going to the dark side in a year or two. I spent the last few days hanging out at the trailer forum here looking at pics, thinking, looking at more pics and imagining myself with a trailer. I went through the whole thought process of shopping for it, sitting in it, purchasing it, TOWING it, and I just couldn't shake the sadness I felt inside. My balloon was deflating and fast! I couldn't just hook up and go to the local park for the day. Boondocking wouldn't give me the "under the radar" feeling and I'd probably end up in more campgrounds, not that I don't go now but options are better. Plus sightseeing would be a nightmare DRAGGING that thing around with me. So the last couple days I've been hanging out around town, Walmart parking lot, a beautiful historic city park and wherever else a TC can go for a day trip. The smile on my face says it all. The giddiness every time I jump in to drive it, park it and just sit and enjoy it, makes me realize that I belong in a TC. Another discussion yesterday and the conclusion is we STAY IN THE TC!! So why the story?? I was surprised how just the thought of changing really upset me and the emotions I felt thinking about it. Have any of you felt the same way?? Are we really that emotionally tied to our TC's? Ps.. here's a pic of me hanging out in the Historical Park yesterday. http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad72/jamminalong/Lance%20Squire%20Lite/20130605_170739_zps2342c0ca.jpg height=480 http://i923.photobucket.com/albums/ad72/jamminalong/Lance%20Squire%20Lite/20130605_161900_zps35fb668f.jpg height=480
