RE: Battery charge

I have found, if you are storing for a week, disconnect the battery/s.Period. If you leave them hooked up go to the breaker box, and pull the fuses for , the radio system clocks and any 12v draw. Now if you leave the unit plugged to shore power, MAKE SURE you check the water more often.. Works great. Remember, a low or dead battery will freeze faster than a fully charged one. Cheers

RE: I need help finding a TT

Always remember, "Poor people cannot afford to buy cheap." When looking, take some one that has or does' own a trailer to help you out. Welcome to the group! and good luck in your venture.

RE: Putting In A Home Dumping Station

I would not want to break any crackers,,but I will. HE SAID septic system. If it were his own home, he "may" do this but drain it very slowly.. Someone else's home NO WAY. It may not be able to take the extra, and clog the system. ANY chemicals as mobeewan said will kill the action and the system will need to be cleaned out. Power and water is OK MY 2p,, DO NOT do sewer at Sis's house.:S Have a great holiday

RE: Need recommendation for rear bike rack for 2004 Roadtrek.

Beth, you might try at a place that sells THULE bike racks. I have a bumper hitch type on my trailer. I had to shorten it to bring it closer to the unit 3". Folded up it does' touch the tire"just" but at least it carries our 2 bikes real good. And GET one that cradles/carries the bike instead of hanging it. Good luck Chuck

RE: Brake vibration / tugging

I had similar situations, After a re-read the lit, and watching the video that came with my brake unit. It indicated that I should readjust the pressure in numbers minus. I had too much pressure to the trailer. 5.0 and now am running about 1.9-3.0 which cut out my vibration and shuddering . You might try to cut back on the regulator for the trailer. Just an idea. RE: Camping during late autumn (below freezing point overnight)

You can , as a suggestion make sure all the water is out of the system, then use 5 gal/20 ltr jugs for water.Use this water to flush your toilet also the toilet/black/grey water tanks won't freeze unless you are there for an extended time. If you are going to be camping in your territory you may want to consider a "winterized" unit. My unit is not "winterized", recently was hunting and temps dropped down to 10 c or below and we did loose our main water line to ice. After returning home I moved the main line so it is now INSIDE the trailer. Cheers Chuck

RE: Thumping

You might check the pressure in your jack system. The spring sound may be the pressure releasing and the springs retracting a bit. OR lay under the unit all night to wait for the sound...:W Good luck Chuck

RE: Unvented SLAs?

I had a Chalet "A" Frame unit. Weight was the problem. So I extended the back bumper 21" Then mounted the batteries down below a bit, and had room for a 14" wide tool box. Dual 6v Cart batts and tools counter balanced the trailer real nice and the dual propane tanks up front, Plus a big storage box on the front. Want pics? Let me know Chuck

So it played on the Television PLUS I had added a small movie into it just for a trial. Again Thanks to all and boy am I special that I figured it out myself....:h Chuck

RE: Another question on tire pressure

The pressure on your door post is for carrying your trucks 8200 lb. GVWR. The pressure on the side wall is for carrying the TIRES maximum weight which is a whole lot more than your truck is designed to handle. XX2 Keep the tires as is stated on the door, when cold check them do not over fill. Chuck

RE: TV Brake does not signal trailer brake

IT may be if you have LED brake lights on the truck. It will not re-signal. Otherwise it should have been a straight forward deal.BY signal, do you mean the indicator on the controller is not showing the pressures. Is the controller new. You might want to goto the dealer. It could save alot of head ache and time. Good luck chuck

RE: How to determin where to stay while traveling

WE always plan ahead. Find the least $$ place and go there, but know have found hosting camp grounds is really the way to go. They give you full hook up for 25-30 hours a week work and it is not a full job. Check out your state parks for ideas. once you are in one you have references for others and move all over the US. We are Texas for winter, KY for summer Oregon for home and fall. Good Luck Chuck

RE: Getting taken at the service department.

Each time I have taken my RV in for service at Camping World in Merdian ID., I have been charged for "Shop Supplies", in addition to the quoted amount for the service. When I have asked "What are these additional charges for, I have been told that they are for items like "Shop rags to clean up the oil or disposal of parts etc. My question is; Is this standard shop procedure throughout the industry? If I take my car in for an oil change or other repairs, I am given a price for the work to be performed, but never have I been told that I have to pay additional fees for the rags used by the mechanics. It seems to me that these additional fees if necessary, should be included in the price quoted for the service. Help me if you can please. Thanks AH , Tough call. The "rags" are cleaned and re-used. all the oils need to be re-cycled out and sent to a cycle place. This is standard deal and most times exploited by a lot of departments. Like you I was quoted a complete re-build on an engine, when done I had to pay for pressure washing the engine to clean it prior to take down ..and they did the rag thing too. after all was said and done,, about 250 extra on the bill. Ya can't fight them when they have the keys. Salt in the wounds , but ask all you can next time. Cheers Chuck

RE: Holding tank

First figure out why the valve is leaking. And fix it. When sitting I always put in about 5-gallons plain water. some do not. Then leave it alone till ready to dump. Dump the black tank first, then the waste water. Now the leak, drain the tank completely and remove the valve. Go to the store and find a replacement ,,,period. saves a lot of future pain in the ass. Put on some silicone GREASE on the new valve at the closure area. Good luck.
