RE: Giving up land line

Newer alarm systems are going to a cellular type service to prevent not being able to get through due to a cut phone line. 911 dispatchers are capable of locating you to within a few feet using the GPS signal from most cell phones.

RE: NCAA May Impose Death Penalty!

The first thing that I see as necessary is to replace all people in the administration of that school that have a stake in supervising the football program. AD, provost, president, possibly the board of directors, etc. The second thing, anyone who has ANY ties to the football program needs to be replaced. That would put you back to square one, effectively setting the PS football program back a few years, which happens any time there is a new coaching/admin staff brought in. I personally don't agree with the so called death penalty because of the athletes that had nothing to do with the situation having their athletic and academic careers messed with. As someone else said, this situation is going to impact not only the people within the school, but also the community in the form of revenue loss if no football games are played. Loss of revenue equals a loss of jobs in the community.

RE: Wireless Printer Ques

After you install the printer drivers/software, open the "add printer" wizard and select "add a network printer". The wizard will search for any printer that is on your network, and then give you the option of making it your default printer. At this point, click yes, and then finish the wizard, and you should be ready to go.

RE: Talk about going all in!

I had a problem very similar to what you are saying and tried fuses from the auto parts store and found they didn't work. Ended up finding a thread on here a few years back saying that you have to use an "appliance" fuse. I called Bussman, who makes the fuses for the auto stores, and found that they have them, and at the time shipped me a five pack sample for free. It wouldn't hurt to check in to it. By the way, welcome to the forum, and as said, ignore the goofy answers.

RE: Directv "Choice Extra" plan question

I've had DirecTv since 2008. Just recently called them because my 4 year old DVR was starting to act a little bit weird. Talked to the lady about the plan that I am on, and found out that it was grandfathered in to the current program lineup. When she compared the numbers between my old plan and the most comparable new one, I will pay $5 LESS a month to get a new HD DVR, HD service, an extra 20-25 channels, and a second receiver. This was before she gave me an extra $10 credit per month for one year. After all is said and done, I am saving $15 per month for the next twelve months without the autopay, and after that, I will be paying $5 less per month than I did for four years, which, by the way, did not change during that time. I've not had the best experience with their ordering department, any time they have come to the house, they have told me that someone ordered the international package for my house, which had to be changed back to the regular HD service. Check with the installer BEFORE they do ANY work as to what exactly was ordered. With that said, I do enjoy the service even with the issues.

RE: Post some of your favorite standby camp meals!

Something I plan on trying is making a "pan" pizza. Use a soft taco flour, put a touch of oil on one side to help it brown, put pizza sauce, cheese, and all of your fixings on, then throw it in a frying pan until the cheese melts.

Like many, I grew up watching the Andy Griffith Show and Matlock, and wondered often wondered what the world would have been like without his talent. Rest in peace.

RE: Friday's derecho....

I'm keeping those people who have no power due to this powerful storm that tore across the middle eastern half of the US, in my prayers. Relentless heat and no power are a deadly combination; folks with wells have no access to water, either, when the power goes out.
And one more good reason to own an RV.......
Double Ditto. And prayers too for the utility workers who have to sweat this dangerous heat to restore power to the homes. The utility workers are unsung heroes.
Amen. I have family in Fort Wayne, IN that doesn't expent power until next Wednesday.

RE: Powerstroke Exhaust

My former truck, a 2001 F250 PSD, had a four inch down tube and a five inch straight pipe. I loved the sound of the truck on the open road, but take it in to a camp ground at night, and you would wake people up with the rumble. I felt horrible every time. Ended up selling the truck because the munchkin in the back seat needed more room than just the extended cab. Wish I had it back.

RE: Fire restrictions and Red Flag Warnings

The Missouri Department of Conservation banned all forms of fire, including charcoal grilling inside of all state parks until further notice. A number of cities in my area have cancelled their 4th of July festivities. All this due to fire prevention.

RE: Electric Brakes - 1000# TT on a 3000# Ford Escape

I keep seeing mention of $100 for the P2. However, the best I see is $112 +$15 for a wiring harness. Is that correct?
I found a P3 on Ebay for $112 plus $7 shipping. I love it. Wiring it to a harness that is designed for your car isn't too difficult.
