RE: Census of rigs and national origin in Mexico Parks

Name of Park: Roca Azul
Mexican locale: Jocotepec
Total sites: 51
Sites occupied by US plated campers: 3
Sites occupied by Canadian plated campers: 7
Sites occupied by other campers: 4 (some week-end only)
WiFi: Yes, but not at all sites with enough strength
Optional observations: 2 pools. Very large resort with Tennis, Futball and plenty of birds. We are expecting a large Caravan of Quebec based Canadians later this month. Very friendly group and truly worth staying if you are around Lake Chapala area.
Date of report: 1/13/2009

RE: delay in digital switch?

Just for the forum information, how many will be shunt out of TV on Feb 1? What is the percentage to the total viewing population? Can the delay of 2 weeks resolve any issues?
One has to remember that this has been announced quite a long time ago and these people not having converters may have to blame themselves first.
I also found, in a number of forums, that people that DID NOT need the converter bought it... just in case. May be they should show some social graces and offer it for free to charities.
As far as the signal being an issue, it is something that everyone may experience, analog or digital. Chances are that the analog signal was poor in the first place, and digital is a bit more demanding in terms of strength.

RE: Census of rigs and national origin in Mexico Parks

Thanks, Mike. Is possible that these 22 Quebec rigs are in a caravan? We are expecting these number a bit later in Roca Azul.
Does the park has WiFi?

Great idea, Bill. I wonder if the forum accepts forms, then we would simply fill the blanks...
I did not know you were a member here! Nice to hear from you.

RE: Flojet Macerator pump electrical connection

I saw some comments about protecting the connection with a fuse (20 amp, I understand). I have not done it... I guess I am living dangerously; :o but I will do it eventually with an inline fuse.
BTW, it takes a few minutes to drain both tanks, and the motor never gets warm.

RE: Flojet Macerator pump electrical connection

Good choice, MotherOwl. I have the same and wondered about the connection too.
I bought jumper cables (12 feet, I believe), cut the alligator clips on one end, connected the wires to the FlowJet as per their instructions. The other end, with the alligator clips, connect to my trailer battery.
This solution is easy and not very expensive as you can find jumper cables for really a good price. If you need more length, you could patch two cables together.
I am using it every couple of days now, with no problems.

RE: Big Rig Mexico Travel

Happy New Year...
I fail to understand the last thread of > posts in this thread about big rigs.
Promoting disinformation is not very kind, and I am sure that the moderator may see to this.
Mexico is safer. Period. Please check your information and statistics. Badmouthing these welcoming people is not something that this forum should allow.

RE: Census of rigs and national origin in Mexico Parks

From Roca Azul - New Year's Eve:
Total 51 sites
1 Mexican
3 US
6 Canadian (unconfirmed, it is a large campground!)
More or less... I hope that the total sites will help your percent occupancy!!
Happy New Year to all.

RE: Magic Jack on Satellite - Followup

I am trying now. Is your sat connecting directly to the modem? Or via a router? What level of service do you have with Hughes Net?
I found that Skype 'seems' better than MJ. But I would suspect that time of day may be critical. I expect 'poor' stuff all this week as it is a heavy time for family calls.
Good telephony.

RE: Census of rigs and national origin in Mexico Parks

Roca Azul RV Park, in Jocopetec, Jalisco, on lake Chapala. We counted today:
1 family of Mexican in a Motorhome (5 people, week-end only)
2 families of American (NM and CA) (4 people)
3 families of Canadian (BC and ON) (6 people)
BTW, for those who want a change from the hot days at the tail end of the winter season, this park is worth the trip. Very quiet, two beautiful pools (one is hot spring pool), nice amenities, like pool room.
There are a number of day trips around worth spending a few days here and the water is CLEAN. Many birds on the lake and the sunrise on the lake is gorgeous.
Enjoy Mexico.

RE: Towing with a Toyota Tundra 5.7L

Good travels. We have a 5.7 L Tundra 2007 with over 40000 miles, pulling a 29 foot Cougar; about 9000 pounds. Great TV!
Enjoy
