Cast Iron Skellet Cleanup Question

So when you are out camping how do you care for your skillet? When washing them out, if there is grease in it (like hamburger grease you can't save) do you let it go into your gray tank or would that cause damage to the tank? Thanks jim

1st trip with all water working.

Well I took the first camping trip with the trailer since replacing some plumbing and installing a grey tank (it originally didn't come with one). Everything worked great. Shower, hot water heater and all the plumbing. The only issue was the AC. On Saturday the fan ran on it then Sunday and today the fan wouldn't run at all. Might be time for a new one. But till then I will use a box fan to circulate the air and see how that does. All in all it was a great time. I left Saturday and got back home this morning. Jim

RE: What Did You Do For Your Travel Trailer Recently?

Added a grey tank and plumbing, fixed a work around me inverter while I am plugged into shore power and then took out the dinnette which really opens up the walking area in the trailer. The dinnette sruck out in front of the fridge and furnace. Probably stuck out about 2 feet into the walk way. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b243/jimb63/2013-05-19_14-44-48_793_zpsf27c5fa6.jpg

RE: What Did You Do For Your Travel Trailer Recently?

A friend of mine will be coming over in 3 hours to put in a grey holding tank (my 1971 Terry didn't come with one). We will be checking the plumbing, installing the toilet, dewinterizing it, putting on new fender skirts (bye bye old plywood skirts that are on her). Then see about being able to pop out a window and putting a screen window in it when I want to. Then get my class on how to use everything then it is off to the races come next Friday! I can't wait, Oh and my sister will be out looking for a spice rack to mount to the inside kitchen cabinet door Jim

RE: Installing Fender Skirts

Thanks for the replies. Hello LeBout, I have a friend who works in the parts department at a RV dealership here in Colorado Springs and he ordered them out of one of his catalogs. Hello Denlor, what size bolt should I be using and is there a certain grade I should be looking for? Thank you

Installing Fender Skirts

Hello everyone, so I am about ready to replace my fender skirts(I was missing one and the previous owner used a piece of plywood). I am wondering if anyone here has done it and could give me some helpful hints on how to do it? These skirts didn't come with any hardware. So I only have the skirts. Any idea of what size screws and type of screws I would need? Thank you Jim

RE: Displaying TV for viewing through a window.

There are two ways that work ... First method (cheap): Use a black screen over the window. Second method (expensive): Use a circular polarizing filter over the window. Hello and thank you for the reply. Where would I find the black screen is this like what you would use on your computer screen and if so won't it make the window dark so it would be hard to see the tv screen on the inside of the window? Thanks Jim

Displaying TV for viewing through a window.

Hello everyone, I have a 1971 21 foot Terry Travel Trailer that I take to motorcycle races here in Colorado. I am a photographer and I am trying to display pictures on my 24" flat screen LED TV but the sunlight is so bright you can't see the pictures on the screen. I will be getting a 10x10 or 12x12 dark blue or black canopy to have over the front of the trailer (where the TV will be at)to try and darken the area. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can make this work? I guess along the same lines, how do you view the TV that can be mounted to the outside of the trailers? Are they using a special type of screen so it can be viewed in the sunlight. I always try and face the TV away from direct sunlight, thinking this would help eleminate the problem. Woohoo race school weekend is this weekend and then May starts the race season. :-) Thank you Jim

RE: What Did You Do For Your Travel Trailer Recently?

Replaced the screen on the screen door, replaced a wall outlet that was loose. Also pulled the trailer to Pueblo then back home and it felt really good. Can't wait till Saturday. The first camping trip of the season.

I replaced screens on the windows and cleaned all the windows. I installed a CO2 detector. I also installed a transmission temp gauge on my tv.

RE: Quick and Easy meals while at the race track

Wow thank you all for the great suggestions. Since it is just me what size crock pot would you all suggest and should it be a 110volt? I have a large 6 qt at home but don't really want something that big because it will only be me at the races and camping. Also the bbq ribs I like, but could I use something else other than bbq sauce in the crock pot with the ribs? Maybe like beef bullion or something like that? Thanks Jim

Quick and Easy meals while at the race track

I am a weekend photographer and during the summer months I photograph motorcycle racing. I have a fully self contained trailer now with a working stove (non working oven). I normally run off of a 2000w generator for power with no problems or I am plugged into 110v. I have in the past years just made it through the weekends eating cold sandwiches and hitting the food vendors (brats and hamburgers)for meals. Now I'm getting a little bit older (turning the big 50 in 2 weeks) I am wanting to eat better at the race track (food to keep my energy level up while keeping my blood sugars in line). The last thing I want to do is have to make a lunch or supper when I come in from the track. Lunches are only about a hour long (taking away about 10 minutes walking from the track to the trailer) leaves me about 40-50 minutes to fix and eat, get camelback filled up and download the morning pictures. Some weekends could be cool and rainy while other weekends could be upwards of 90-100 degrees. Does anyone have suggestions of what I could make at home and take with me to eat at lunch to keep my energy level up in the afternoon races. Also suggestions on stuff for supper of an evening. Thank you Jim
