RE: Wiring diagrams needed
I got the diagram for my 1990 Southwind from Fleetwood about 2 weeks ago. Call the Customer Service number -- the very nice rep faxed the diagram to me in under an hour. No charge, either.
RE: Rexhall...how do they measure up against Tiffin & Winnebago?
Not to be contrary, but...
A good friend of mine bought a 2004 Rexhall Vision in 2004, and she's had problem after problem with it. The seat movement levers don't work half the time, the cabinetry is pretty but very poorly built, and it's got the noisiest and worst water pump I've ever heard of. The house batteries are almost impossible to service, as the slideout tray they're on doesn't slide out and the cables are so short that you cannot get the caps off to check water levels. It spent a good bit of its first year at the Rexhall plant in Lancaster CA having various problems "fixed", only somehow nothing ever STAYED fixed. Hopefully the higher-end Rexhalls are built better.
RE: Multiple appliance failures! Suggestions?
I did check the house circuit breakers, and all the fuses I could find. All looked completely normal. The house lights all worked fine, as did the water pump (I assume that's electric, is that right?) and the electric steps.
Oh, and even with the genny running, the reefer is dead as the proverbial doornail. I'll check the propane as was suggested, in hopes that that'll account for some of the problems.
I did find mouse scat in some of the kitchen drawers, so the little varmints may have gotten at my wiring; how would I go about testing that? Of all the fix-it stuff on the RV, electrical is the thing I just don't grok.
Thanks, you guys are really helpful!
Multiple appliance failures! Suggestions?
After several months in storage, I hit the road last month for a week in Colorado Springs. Foolishly, I didn't check the reefer, water heater, etc. before leaving (I was busy putting in laminate flooring:o). The day before the trip I discovered that the reefer won't work on either gas or propane, the propane stovetop will spark but won't light, the water heater won't work, and the battery/tank/etc. gauges don't work. I thought maybe an empty propane tank would explain some of this, but the tank was nearly full and the supply valve was open.
Seems like this should boil down to a fairly short list of things to check, but I don't know where to start. Any suggestions would be really welcome!
RE: Starter relay question
chevy starter relay is on the starter,
this sounds like a battery disconnect relay, did it fail ?
No, the battery disconnect is working just fine. Yes, I have done the "forgot to turn it on" thing before ;), but not this time.
RE: Starter relay question
Sorry, I forgot to say -- it's a Chevy P30 chassis. I'm at the office today, so I can't get pictures. So would I ask for the starter relay for a Chevy 454 engine?
Thanks!
Starter relay question
I'm pretty illiterate when it comes to electrical matters, so I hope someone here can help me.
My 1990 Southwind refused to start -- I had the mobile mechanic out, and he was able to isolate the problem to the starter relay (the "thingie" that sits next to the fuse panel under the hood, between the battery and the starter). When he took the relay out of the system and jumpered across, the rig started perfectly. So, we decided to replace the relay.
He's been unable to locate a new relay in over a month. Would it cause problems if he just did a permanent jumper where the relay used to be? What purpose does the darn thing serve (when it's working)? I'm going to Colorado in two weeks, so I really need this problem fixed one way or the other.
TIA!
