RE: Going up the mountains pass

Use low gear and keep your speed down. What did we do before exhaust brakes ? Keep your speed down and use lower gears.

RE: What Is This Cord Module?

I think they are to prevent shoplifting. I had one on a saw and after a year or so, and asking everyone I could think of, I pryed mine off. Inside is a bar code tag. If this same code isn't scanned into the computer ( when the clerk scans the item for payment ) It will activate the alarm when leaving the store.

RE: Help with Howling Noise in Ford V10 Class A Chassis

This sounds like ring gear and pinion ( rear end ) trouble to me. This is very characteristic of their symptoms. You mignt try some additives, however usually the only fix is to replace them

RE: Rear axles

Dxpensive ? depends on how you look at it. It's cheaper than a new truck-yes it is doable. you would probably need to re calibrate the computer, speedometer, etc. a good shop should be aware of what is necessary. Take it to one of them and get an estimate.

RE: Locked Rotor on roof top A/C

Like jetcare says, the tool is called a checkbook -As far as I know a locked compressor can't be repaired.

This sounds like your AC is icing up-generally an indication of low freon.

RE: Battery Testing Question

A fully charged battery should read approx 14.6 volts. I beleive if it were me I would replace it before leaving . A new battery is about 70.00 and it is worth the peace of mind.

RE: Astro Van - Brake Rotor problems

Biggest cause of warped rotors is improper torque when mounting wheels. It is very important that they be torqued correctly.

Do you have vacumn assist power brakes ? Sounds like a vacum leak to me.

RE: AC/DC switch allows for use with alternative power sources

I personally own and operate a Makita 7 1/4 inch saw. Several companies ( including Makita ) make a battery operated saw which is excellent for occasional cutting of a few boards. We use them when working on a lift or in the attic where extension cords are a pain to keep up with you. I have a Dewalt 36V battery operated and I love it. They are a little " pricey " but it comes with the battery and a one hour charger.

RE: Slide out issue on my Mountaineer 5er

sounds to mee that it's likely to be your pump . Check your fluid level in it . It is cutting off for some reason. It could be drawing too much amperage and the relay is cutting off and then re-setting after it cools a little- that would also be a good place to check ( and likely to be the least expensive too )

RE: A/C Problem - Vibration

I see you are in North Texas- down here in the southeast part, dirt it is fairly common that dirt daubers will build on one of the fan blades. This could be your problem.

Dometic Refrigerator recall

Like many of you, I just returned from the repair shop where I was told that Dometic would not pay for the replacement of my cooling assy. I got a little satisfaction by filing a complaint with the National Highway Safety Agency. If all affected owners would also file we might get some help.

RE: 19.5 wheel and 17 wheel together.

If it is on a driving axle and it has a locking differential you might damage it. So use caution . On a non driving axle it would not hurt anything -might affect the steering slightly.

RE: ferry to alaska from either us or vancouver

I beleive the ferry would leave from either place you mentioned. I think you could do a search for the Alaska Marine Highway and get information regarding schedules, contact numbers, etc. You would need reservations for this .

RE: Replacement for 35 gallon Propane fill valve?

Wouldn't say for an absolute fact, but seems that all tanks only fill to the 80 % . I know this is true for home use tanks, They need the extrta space for compression and vaporization of the gas. If that is the only reason you are changing it, I would check with a certified propane dealer and get his opinion on it. Might save you some money and trouble.
