'78 Travelaire refurb pics

Just thought I would share some pics of our first TT, 78 Travelaire, we found some pretty bad water damage before we sold it so we ripped out a good part of the ceilng/walls around the tub and a big piece of floor in the middle of the TT. Reframed, re-insualted, and new tile floor, almost as good as new! It was a great TT, I hope it's new owners are enjoying it as much as we did. :) exterior http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/2005_1016rv-home0005.jpg width=640 bathroom damage http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/2005_0518Trailer0004.jpg width=640 http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/2005_0518Trailer0003.jpg width=640 http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/2005_0518Trailer0006.jpg width=640 repaired floor http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/2005_0518Trailer0001.jpg width=640 bathroom repair in progress http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/DSCF1020.jpg width=640 http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/DSCF1021.jpg width=640 http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/DSCF1018.jpg width=640 finished bathroom http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/2005_1016rv-home0002.jpg width=640 http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/2005_1016rv-home0003.jpg width=640 finished floor http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/2005_1016rv-home0001.jpg width=640 http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/2005_1016rv-home0004.jpg width=640 exterior http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/2005_0924argo_tt0009.jpg width=640 http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/2005_0924argo_tt0012.jpg width=640 overhead cabinet turned into bunk, dinette in "bed mode" http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/1978%20Travelaire/2005_0518Trailer0008.jpg width=640

RE: Looking for a curbside dinette floorplan

We have the Rockwood 2701ss, love the layout with the curbside dinette. It was a must-have for us. I can watch the kids in our own campsite while I'm in the dinette. I can also watch them in the RV from the campsite! Plus who wants to look at the neighbours campsite while you are eating inside? Kids love the single over double bunks, lots of room to play.

RE: Has anyone done this?

I use it in my camp chairs, works GREAT! Also use it in my bunk windows to keep kids warmer at night. I say go for it!

RE: What was your biggest RV mistaake?

Forgot this one, DH pulled out from a campsite with our 1978 Travelaire without stopping to let me grab the levelling boards. Well, those boards ripped the "gray" plumbing apart...... That stuff spewed all over the ditch, thank god it wasn't the OTHER plumbing............shudders thinking about the what if!

RE: Does anybody have good lie art for pop-up TC?

If you have an iPhone or iPad, there are lots of photo apps that will turn your own picture into a sketch or line drawing. Try MySketch or PowerSketch.

RE: Owners manual 2006 McKenzie Lakota

Here are a couple links I found when I googled your unit. Our new unit didn't come with an "owner's manual" really, just a generic type of book. The most useful stuff we got was the manuals for the components, ie axles, a/c unit etc. You may want to try googling the components separately. Lakota Brochure Lakota Recalls RV web guide

RE: What was your biggest RV mistaake?

For us it was DH backing up the RV to park it next to the garage without me there to guide him. Hit the bricks on the front of the garage. It took some trim off the bottom edge of the RV and put a couple of big gouges in the side of the RV. Took it to the dealer and after a few (!!!!!!!) $, good as new! Oops!

RE: I had to shed a little tear today...

We'll probably be doing the same this weekend. It's already snowing in some parts of Alberta. :(

RE: Campgrounds or rest areas?

Stayed in a rest stop once when all the local campgrounds were full, didn't sleep a wink with all the big rigs' engines running all night. Have stayed in a wallyworld parking lot maybe 3 times en route to a destination. Slept better but not great, just didn't feel that safe. Our preference is the campground.

RE: Be Careful Where You Eat Out

I think you have to be careful anywhere and you still eat/drink bad stuff. On Sep 22, 2012 we at at IHOP store #1372 at 3830 College St Beaumont TX 77701 at table 13/1. We paid the check #7525 at 06:57PM. I had the kids drinks put in to-go glasses and left. The daughter said she thought they put lemon in her tea because it tasted minty. I tasted and confirmed. At noon the next day I was cleaning out the SUV drink holder when we stopped for a snack. There was not a handy trash can so I just poured out the daughter's melted ice in her tea glass so I could just set it back in the car until later. When I poured out the water something bounced on the ground. It was a large wad of used green chewing gum. :( Ewwwwwwwwwwwww, yukky!

RE: Gasoline added to fresh water tank :(

We never drink or cook with water from the holding tank or campground hook ups, never have and never will, we use it for showers, flushing, doing dishes with anti bacterial dish soap, etc. We use only bottled and distilled water for drinking or cooking. Just a personal preference, I'm sure there is nothing wrong with drinking it. Nick We do the same. Better safe than sorry. Me three. I thought I was the only one. Me four....

RE: Dogs & Other Animals on Picnic Table??

If we are going to use the picnic table for food we use a table cloth on it. The picnic table sits outside so I have no expectations of it being clean or sanitary. X2, we keep a few dollar store plastic table cloths in the TT.

RE: Keep grill in trailer during winter?

We keep ours in a canvas bag in the front compartment all year, for YEARS, no problems ever.

Eventful Labour Day Weekend (long with pics)

Good morning all! Thought I would share my last long weekend camping adventures now that I have recovered, lol! Sooo, DH and I and a friend went out to check out a campground close to Hinton, Alberta for the long weekend. (Gregg Lake in William Switzer Provincial Park) ONE) Our friend who was about an hour ahead of us had a tire blow out. Stopped and changed out tire with no issues. It involved a little bit of damage to his TT and a trip into the nearest town Saturday for another spare tire to get him home safely on Monday. TWO) Last trip out, I pulled the RV for the very FIRST time for a few kilometres, THIS trip I pulled the RV for about two hours, through towns, up hills, in the rain, in the dark, into gas stations, and right into the campground! (did not back up however, saved that for daytime and another trip! After a girlfriend of mine ended up towing their TT because her DH had a gallstone attack, I figured I had better know how to tow as well! Don't know why I didn't ever tow one of the three previous SMALLER units we had!!!) THREE) This is where it gets interesting. Had a great weekend camping, did some biking, hiking, and the kids did a bit of fishing. Monday, we pack up, but this time DH is driving home. Well, about 20 minutes out we get flagged down by a passing RVer. We think we are losing the stinky slinky so we pull over on the side of the road to see what's happening..... OH NO. Bearing failure! We pulled onto a side road, pulled off everything, and limped the rest of the way home. Turned a three hour drive into a 7 hour drive. Luckily there was no fire, no damage to the RV, it could have been so much worse. DH got everything replaced the next weekend. All the parts were under $150. (I think we probably still need an alignment.) AND looked at all the other bearings while we were at it. That being said, I have been asking DH for 2 years to repack the bearings. Hmmmmm. Peace and harmony were preserved though, being a great DW, I never once let these words cross my lips: "I told you so!" LOL So, here a couple pics and one of a camping neighbour checking out our campsite. :) http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/Rockwood/325405_10151131787730983_1250180432_o.jpg width=640 http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/Rockwood/202688_10151131788180983_2031715259_o.jpg width=640 http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/Rockwood/220837_10151131788595983_576054376_o.jpg width=640 http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii596/jefnr/Rockwood/2012_09gregglake056.png width=640
