RE: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???

Ever notice how a "pro" does it once, but us average guys, who read instructions after the fact with a beer in hand, always seem to do it at least twice.Just proves we are not so lazy that we can't do it over and over....and at times it's still not right.
Never been in a professional shop where they were drinking beer and working, but if I ask the buddies to help me,first thing we do is have a beer.
Glad you figured it out.

RE: Landing gear squeak

Could be the trailer telling you to "hurry up and pack me,I want to go camping." :B
Kind of like when we sit in one spot too long and our bones creak when we try to move.
Keep us updated.

RE: Enjoying camping this weekend and...crash!

jetboater, I'd get the brakes checked as mine will not let me move at all if I grab a handful of manual trailer brake
I've never had trailer brakes lock just applying power to them. Next time you have a drum off,hit the controller and see if your brake shoes move.
I know my brakes work as I can lock and smoke all 6 tires on pavement. And I haul heavy most of the time.

RE: Landing gear squeak

Doesn't sound like your over extended. Being a newer camper it might just need to get the squeaks out.Don't forget the trailer is on tires and springs, any movement there is multiplied by the time it gets to the front jacks.
I missed the question on the grease,I use whatever is in the grease gun at the time, usually a good quality high temp grease.
You could try to tighten the rear jacks, and extend the front jacks a little.

There was even an app to scan the RF cards. Not sure if it's still out there. Thieves are always coming up with a way to scam people.

RE: Jacking up 5th wheel

If you can get a jack under the axle spring perch, that's the best place. When I had a flat there was no way the jack would fit.I jacked on the frame by the tire.Funny thing with a three axle trailer is the back tire was off the ground first.:h

RE: Fresh water tank plants

The pool chlorine will definitely clean out the tank. Do as posted above and tow it a few miles starting and stopping to get it sloshing around.Drain,(refill)rinse, repeat as needed.
And keep the chlorine from getting on the trailer.A good funnel and gloves will help.
Good luck.

RE: Landing gear squeak

If you have the actual legs extended down far it will make some squeaking noise.Did you extend the leg extensions? Also if you grease the zerk fitting, make sure the legs are up,or you will have a lot of grease with no where to go when you raise the legs. You can also spray the sliding legs with WD-40 or whatever, just use a little to avoid dirt sticking to them.
Also do not run the power legs up all the way until they stop,it will trash the gear in the motor. Most come from the factory with a paint mark on the legs from when they spray them. People seem to get scared if their landing gear is 6" down from the trailer, guess they think it will hit the road on a bump or something.
One other thing when you have it hooked up to the truck is to see how far the sliding leg extends before it falls out. I rarely slide mine out more than 8 holes.

RE: I90 W of Clevand to Erie, PA

If you want to see the stadium and more of Lake Erie, you can take 90.Deadmans curve is not that bad, used to do it almost daily in a semi when I lived in Avon Lake.Just avoid rush hours.

RE: Enjoying camping this weekend and...crash!

I always apply the trailer brakes fully during hitch and unhitch as well as chocks.
Might work on some trailers, but most with electric brakes it won't engage the brakes until the drum turns. I can get about 8" movement before mine engage to lock up the wheels.
No idea why they don't engage right away.:h
