RE: Atwood water heater question.

Let it run until it shuts off. The water will be 140-145 degrees. The ECO (high limit switch) will shut the heater off if the thermostat is bad.

RE: Propane Issues.

When you opened the LP tanks, the surge of LP into the empty lines caused the excess flow valves located inside the LP hoses to trip. These are the two hoses that connect the tanks to the regulator. Turn off the tanks, wait a few hours and then open the tank valves slowly. If you get real frustrated, replace the two hoses. Their cost is only about $10 each.

RE: Sealand toilet

The water line comes from the water valve at the pedal and this water line is attached to the base of the vacuum breaker using a small hose clamp. The vacuum breaker has a plastic fitting the hose pushed on too. The vacuum breaker is pushed into a rubber grommet located in the rear of the toilet. It is a push fit and uses no glue.

RE: Duo-Therm 13.5k Roof AC- All but Compressor Works

If you are using a "clamp-on" AC meter and the blue wire is only showing 4.2 amps, the compressor is running but you are very low or out of Freon. The compressor has nothing to pump so that is the reason for the low amp reading. Time to replace the upper unit.

RE: No Pressure from Hot Water Tank.

If you are getting very little or No flow from all the hot water taps, you have a bad check valve located on the hot water outlet fitting on the back of the water heater. Normally, they look like a brass nipple about 3 inches long screwed right on the back of the water heater.

RE: Water heater control question...

The red light is called a "lock out" light and comes on when the LP side of the water heater has tried to light three times and failed to work. This is usually the result of being out of LP. If you turn the LP switch off and back on, the water heater circuit board will try and start on LP three more times. If the LP side of the water heater is working, the light will stay off.

RE: Yet another NT-30SP issue

If this does not work, you need to inspect the igniter and LP orifice. I would guess the LP orifice is plugged with a bug, insect or dirt.

RE: Yet another NT-30SP issue

Partially loosen the LP Line at the furnace until you smell LP. Close the line and set the thermostat to call for heat. You sound get fan rotation, then 10-20 seconds later, you should hear the gas valve click and the igniter sparking. You should have flame combustion a second later.

RE: rm2862 2005 allegro shuts down

If by "reset button" you mean the button with the two red wires attached to the metal jacket wrapped around the flue on the back of the refrigerator, then you need to have the refrigerator looked at by a repairman. The reset button was designed to trip in the event of an overheat condition near the LP burner and electric heating element. The cause of the overheat condition is usually the result of a loss of the hydrogen, ammonia, water solution. If you see green or yellow powder staining located six inches below the reset button, you have lost the solution and need the cooling unit replaced.

RE: Annode rod

All this assuming is correct if you have a Suburban Water heater. The anode rod is made from aluminum or magnesium and is .750" in diameter and 9.5" long. If you have an Atwood water heater you don't need the anode rod. They never came with one from the factory. You will see some RV stores including Camping World selling an Atwood anode rod that is manufactured from magnesium and is .500" in diameter and 4.50" long.

RE: Gas appliance don't work, just filled tanks

The excess flow valve is in the pigtail. An overfill prevention device is in most tanks. Came back from the propane station with two filled and heavy tanks. For some reason, the Indicator on the regulator won't turn green, and the stove barely works. DW trying to cook for dinner. Help and thanks Had the same thing happen to me. The propane pigtails have a device in the them that prevents flow in the event of a hose failure or fire, etc. Those high flow shut off devices can go bad. When this happened to me I replaced both propane pigtails and everything worked fine after that. I'm not saying yours have gone south but it's worth a look if you can't get them to work after following some of the tips previously posted. The excess flow preventer is in the tank not the pigtails.

RE: New Atwood helium refrigerator - doesn't seem to cool

My training from Dometic and Norcold indicates that the 120VAC element and the LP source are with 25 Btu's of each other. Do you have a source for your Btu claim? Not trying to start an argument, just want to find out if LP cooling is 250% more efficient/quicker. Hi, I would suggest trying it on gas for a while. On electric, typically it is 900 Btu's input, while gas is typically 2,200 Btu's input. Yes they are totally silent, with no moving parts, only the liquids inside more around, with the boiler separating the chemicals, and coming back together they get very cold. Return to the boiler, and the heat separates the chemicals. Being off level, it can overheat the boiler, if the chemicals are not returning to the boiler, and this is probably where the safety thermostat is located, if it trips, it should have reset on it's own after a few hours. Also if the safety had tripped, the check light should be on. Driving is OK to be off level, as the movement of the RV will cause the chemicals to flow out of the evaporator, and will return to the boiler just fine. I always start my refrigerator about 2 days before it is needed. This would give me time to refill the propane, or have it looked at if something was wrong with it before a trip. Yes 8 hours to cool off is also normal. Fred.

RE: XtraRide Service contract: Anyone have it?

I work with all the Extended Warranty programs and I think the Xtraride is the easiest to work with and they have some of the best coverage. Good Sam is also very good.

RE: Norcold, Are you sorry you had the recall done?

I have read that some people have experienced the High Temperature Limit Monitor Box tripping with no apparent reason. Norcold has issued a Product Bulletin that should be followed prior to resetting the Monitor Box. Some people have indicated that owners, dealers and repair shops are using a magnet to reset the box without doing the required inspection looking for a possible cause for the Monitor Box lockout. Just today, I received a call from an owner that wanted to know how to reset the Monitor Box without completing the inspection. I offered to come to his site and perform the inspection. I found a cooling unit failure with associated hydrogen and ammonia leak near the LP burner tube and electric heating element. His High Limit Monitoring System turned the refrigerator off due to a high heat condition and prior to a fire. Please do not reset the Monitor Box without doing the inspection.

RE: Norcold, Are you sorry you had the recall done?

Had it done 4 years ago no problems. dometic recall seems to be the same as Norcolds. The recall that was required four years ago is not the current recall that was issued about November 2010. If you don't have the small Black High Temperature Limit Monitor Box with red LED light, you don't have the current recall. All Norcold 1200 series refrigerators manufactured prior to late 2010 are on the recall list. If you have the Black High Temperature Limit Monitor Box, you have the latest recall.

Retama Village near Mission will not disappoint. Not all class A but all 1st Class. This is the nicest park in the valley and as close as it gets.

RE: Atwood water heaters

For those of you who are considering removing the mixing valve, please replace the 155 degree thermostat with the 130-140 degree thermostat found in the water heaters without mixing valves. 155 degree water at the faucet is just not safe.

RE: Everyone down south already?

Leaving next week to our same old favorite place near Mission TX. We may see you on the road. We arrive in Mission on Tuesday, October 16th. Hope to see you there! We are at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta and it has been great.
