RE: What does your RV forum name mean?

First letter of first name followed by first 6 letters of last name. Something that I carried over from when I was working so I would never forget how happy I am to be retired and never working again. It works. LOL....

RE: Basement Cargo slide tray

I had one on my previous 5er that would open either way. I loved it. On this 5er the one I have only opens one way. Very convenient if they open either way. Sure beats crawling inside to get to items in the middle. Wish I had the one that opens both ways. Space loss is not an issue for me.

RE: Overdrive...

Always tow with t/h. They only time you do not need t/h is when you are NOT towing. This will save your transmission.

Home Made Air Bags for Leveling RV's

Here is a video I ran across for making home made leveling air bags that I thought might be of some value to you all. I have not made these as yet but I plan to in the near future.

RE: My coyote story

When I lived in Kentucky many years ago I had a pair of Beagle brothers on our country property. The coyotes females in heat lured them off our property where the males attacked and killed them both. They were not eaten, just killed. I suspect they were killed for challenging the other males to breed with the females but can not confirm that obviously. My neighbor killed a male that was over 7 feet long when hung on an 8 foot post. Years ago when killing them was against the law in Kentucky there was a bounty on catching them. The game wardens would relocate them and release them in other locations. To keep them until release was available they were caged at the local dog catchers. Because of over crowding the dog catchers put some in with larger dogs (german shepards mostly). Since some were females in heat with males the cross breed and end up having much larger off spring. These new larger coyotes began taking down some large calves of the local cattle raisers. Finally, there was a bounty on them for dead only. This helped thin out the packs but there are still to this day very large coyotes killed in Kentucky. Yes they take pets all the time and have threatened farmers in the fields as well. Most all the farmers and cattle raisers carry hunting rifles and pistols with them for protection these days. My father-in-law had killed over 20 before he passed away last year. They had taken 5 of his pet dogs that he worked his cattle with and he hated them.

On my Montana it is under a slide out on the side with the other valves. I had a hard time finding mine too. I hope this helps.

RE: trailaire or moryde??

I have the Morride and the Trailer Saver 20K Hitch. I could not be happier. Smoothest ride I have ever had. I also plan to install air bags on the truck just to smooth out the ride when not towing.

Look at Fredericksberg (sp), Texas. A ton of good riding up there and not all that far from Austin.

RE: Dumb question about keys...

You may have to look around hardware stores to see which one has the proper blank to make you a new key. I found that Ace Hardware had the proper blank for my trailer. I had already looked at Home Depot, Walmart, Lowes with no luck.

RE: Winter Texan lost his RV

Don't get me started on this subject. Florida has kowtowed to the seniors so long it is pathetic. They go to get their DL renewed and fail the eye test....NO problem, just run down to the local optometrist and get a letter saying you can see, then the state is REQUIRED to issue your DL. the law says that if a LEO or a family member feels the person is not fit to drive then they can have the person checked by the DMV. The first check I attended was a DMV clerk asking the elderly if they felt they were a safe driver. Answer, of course I am....OK you are cleared to drive again.
After a certain age and if there is a reason to doubt the elderly can drive safely, then there should be semi annual driving test. NO automatic renewal.
It is not just Florida who needs better enforcement. My grandmother had lived her entire life in Illinois. I had been looking after her from Ohio for several years. I would visit her 4-6 times a year. She insisted on staying in her own home. I was concerned with her falling and had a neighbor check on her daily. When visiting I would find some excuse for her to drive somewhere so I could asses her driving ability. After age 80 she had to pass an eye test each year to get her driver license renewed, which I thought was great. Finally, at age 95 I had had enough and managed to be there a couple of days before her driving eye exam and had to insist they fail her to get her off the road before she hurt herself or someone else. She could see good for about 20 feet but beyond that she only saw blurs. Her neighbor agreed to run errands with her or on her own. I offered to pay her but she had known my grandmother for many years and would not take anything. My grandmother lived to be just 5 weeks shy of 102 before she had a heart attack and passed on. I have no regrets stopping her from driving. I figure I saved some lives.

RE: Class A stairway grab bar.....

I got one for my 5er at Home Depot. They have a lot of different lengths. They are brushed stainless steel about 2-2 1/2 inches id with welded on ends with 3 screw holes for easy mounting and come with the screws. I used the ends to pre-mark the screw holes, pre-drilled the wall and used expanding inserts to insure a strong fit. I use mine daily and would not be without it. I believe the bar was about $5-$6 dollars and well worth it.
I hope this helps.

RE: cabin air filters

My 2010 and 2012 Ram do not have an air filter but there is space for one. Just pop your glove box out and the space for the filter is right there above the fan motor. If you do not have a filter door, you do not have one. If you want, there is a kit that you can buy and cut a door in and insert a filter. Follow this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0TyhcRaAsA or this one http://www.ramforum.com/f75/cabin_air_filter_mod-12200/
Thanks so much for this post. I have been wanting to add a cabin air filter if I knew where and could verify my Dodge did not have one. The second url is fantastic telling everything I need to add one. Again thanks for this post.

RE: cabin air filters

I have tried to find one on my 2004.5 Dodge Dually and can not seem to find one although I have been told it should have one. Anyone have a 2004.5 that can help me find mine? It sure must be hidden very well.

RE: Diesel tv with tuner?

I was getting 19.9 highway unloaded. Had towed my fiver and got 10.1 or 10.2. Added the Diablo Predator to optimize the fuel/air ratios and got immediate results. Advertised to add 100 hp and 210 ft. lbs. torque. My mileage went up to 25.2 highway unloaded and 12.0 towing my fiver. I still get about 19.9 around town just running errands as long as I do not get on it real hard.
I would do it again in a heart beat. It has the capabilities to add a switch to go between plain stock, hauling and optimal usages, which I added immediately. I always run in the optimal usage position as this gets me the best mpg. I do run with the tow/haul engaged so it locks up the converter.
Like I say, a great product for my 2004.5 Dually and I would do it again if I changed tow vehicles.

RE: Verizon 4GLTE Hacked

So, it sounds like someone got your WPA/WPA2 MiFi (WiFi) password. You must have shared it with someone along the way since it is very nearly impossible to hack those...
No one knows the password besides me. I have NOT shared it with anyone. As you must know, hackers are more and more sophisticated these days and yes, it was hacked. All activity occurred in the hours between 2:00am and 6:00am on all days. Someone was very careful to not use it when they thought I might be up and using it. I suspect they could even see my rv to see if there were any lights on.
Hackers are very sneaky.....
