RE: Wanting to tow 2010 JKU Rubicon, need guidance

Bob, Look on-line, like Craig's list etc. I found a complete Roadmaster set-up including bug deflector and tow shield for like $1,200. Ordered new brackets and wiring harness for another couple hundred, but am very happy with the set-up and did the install myself. If you are the least bit handy and have some tools you can do this. I also installed a Stay-n-play braking system to my 2009 JKU and like it as well. Nothing to install or remove every time you want to use it. Just flip a switch hidden under the dash and you are good to go. Good luck! John

RE: Beach Camping on Oregon Coast

The further south you go and the further you are away from major cities like Portland, Eugene, Medford etc. the more likely you will be to find a beach front state park available. Good luck and enjoy Oregon this summer!

RE: microwave will not heat food

Had the exact same thing happen to mine. Had a whole house warranty so scheduled a repairman to come and look. He opened up the control panel on the side and found that a wire had simply worked its way loose. He crimped on a new connector, pushed it on the spade and it fired up and has worked since. Cost me $40 co-pay, but if you are in a jam you might check for anything loose before replacing it. Just a thought!

RE: Oregon Coast Trip

Tom, Make reservations on the Oregon coast well in advance as even the state parks fill up during the summer months, especially on weekends. Enjoy Oregon! John

RE: Pioneer AVH-P5700DVD - not very easy to figure out!

Jeff, One other thought. Does the rear view camera work when you put the rig in reverse? If so you know the camera is working and it is just a matter of getting the settings right. If you do an internet search on Pioneer AVH-P5700DVD manuals you can download the manual if you don't already have one. Good luck! John

RE: Pioneer AVH-P5700DVD - not very easy to figure out!

Jeff, I have a similar Pioneer system and I have to research this everytime mine goes out as well. If I recall the backup camera on and off setting is within the radio station settins. On your screen in the top right corner you should see a button/area to push. This will take you to the radio/mixer setting and I believe the rear view camera setting are located there. As I recall, doing this from memory of course, you may have to have the vehicle in park and the emergecy brake set in order to get the button to be active so you can turn it back on. I have to go through this every time the battery is disconnected etc. Hope this helps. Directions might be a little sketchy as I am doing this from memory and don't have the radio or manuals in front of me. John

RE: Is Tucson Safe?

The bars on the windows are so we can leave the windows open all night and still feel secure. Try doing that in New Hampshire in November or February. As many have said no better or no worse than any other Mid-sized city. Come and enjoy our dry and warm weather. Going to be 80 degrees this weekend! John

RE: Slideout on Class C

Dennis, Unless there is a problem with your generator not producing enough power, it shouldn't make a difference. Do you have the option to connect to power to test it? If so I would try that first before jumping to conclusions. Good luck! John

RE: My door squeaks!

Joe, May not be your door seal. Check the strike plate and make sure it isn't running on the latch while you drive. Easy way to check is to wrap some electrical tape around the strike plate and drive a bit. If the sound goes away then you know it was running. You will then have adjust the location of the rod. I think this happens as things get older and they just seem to sag a bit if you know what I mean! Hope this helps. John

RE: Oregon coast boondocking?

biggjc, There are several casino's either right on the beach or in close proximity. Try the link below. http://www.casinocamper.com/rv-parking-locations/RV-Friendly-Casinos/casino-locations/oregon_c88_m146/ The Mill Casino in Coos Bay, Three Rivers Casino in Florence, Spirit Mountain Grande Ronde, and Chinook Winds Lincoln City all have boondocking locations. Hope this helps. John

RE: Wisconsin to the Redwoods and Oregon

sdpacl, Enjoy your visit to the west coast whatever direction you decided to take. The weather along the Oregon coast in June can be a little iffy, but beautiful nonethemless. With kids this age range I would highly recommend a Jet Boat ride on the Rogue River out of Gold Beach, Oregon. I have included a link for one of the tour groups below. A lot of fun and educational to boot. Check out the videos on-line. http://www.roguejets.com/ John

RE: Oregon Coast State Parks

Dimegroup, In addition to the ones already mentioned I like Honeyman State Part just south of Florence. Also make sure you check out the jet boat ride up the Rogue River outside Gold Beach. One of my favorite things to do in Oregon is you haven't already done so. Enjoy Oregon, but do make reservations. John

RE: Arizona pollution

Definately worse in the Phoenix area, however I had this same problem last year south of Tucson. Nothing this year and have been taking Zyrtec daily since last year. Not sure if I built up a resistance to the allergies or if they just aren't as bad this year. As someone else already stated, try a different area in Arizona and see if it improves, but get well first. I too had to have anti-biotics and started taking Zyrtec before it got better. Also, if you haven't already try using a Nettie pot. You can find them at any drug store, possibly even Wal-Mart. Cheap and made a huge difference for me last year. Hope this helps! John

RE: Is There a Doctor in the House is Tucson?

Pompomgirl, contact your primary care provider in Washington and ask them for a referral to a doctor or care facility in Tucson. With that in hand you should be able to get an appointment or be seen by a care facility. Hope this help! Merry Christmas! JH

RE: Jeep and Air Force One

Horsedoc, I have the Stay-N-Play installed on my '09 Jeep Wranger Unlimited which I believe uses the same cylinder and did the install myself. Plenty of room to install the cylinder behind the brake pedal as it is very small. Not easy to get down there to install it, but it can be done and space behind the brake pedal is not the problem. Standing on your head so you can see if. I removed the drivers side seat to install mine. Hope this helps. John

RE: Ordering Winnebago Parts Online

Try Amazon.com first. You might be surprised what you find. I found some parts for my house refrigerator that I never thought I would find and they wanted an arm and a leg for them from the "factory". Good luck! John

RE: SLOW DRAINS

BVF6190, Check for a plumbing vent. Sometimes found under the sink. Also check your plumbing roof vent to make sure it isn't plugged. Hope this helps! John

RE: From central OR coast to the Redwoods

Kathy, If you have time check out the mailboat rides on the Rogue River in Gold Beach. Well worth the day and unbelieveble scenery you can't see from the road. I don't have a link with me, but you can find them on the internet. John

RE: Wrangler towing with Roadmaster

Martin, Look on-line for Roadmaster base plates. I was able to find mine for like $110. The bumpers on a stock Jeep are very light and not recommended for towing. Unless you get a custom made bumper with baseplates built in I wouldn't recommend it. Hope this helps. John
