Adirondacks route

In 3 weeks we will be going into the Adirondacks at Woodgate on highway 28 to Glens Falls, then north on interstate 87. Is highway 28 rv friendly as I will be pulling a 35 ft 5th wheel.. Is there anything you would recommend to see on the way.. any favorite campgrounds?

added Lighting

I am thinking about installing a small high intensity reading light above our chairs tapping off of the original lights installed. Can I use eyeball type lights from Home depot or do I have to get ac/dc from camping world? I would only need them when plugged into shore power..

EGT gauge for new silverado diesel

I am told that an EGT ind for monitoring the turbo prior to shutting it off would be a good investment. Are they hard to install? anyone else have one? Jim

Awning for wall outside refrigerator

Has anyone tried to fabricate an awning type cover for the outside wall where the refrigerator is? I am thinking about removing my outside grill mount (a shaped bar that is mounted on the side of the trailer) and repositioning it over the refrigerator grill outside and figuring out some kind of a cover to keep the sun off here in Arizona. Any ideas out there? Jim

5th wheel axle

I have a 2012 Jayco Eagle with about 10000 miles on it. I noticed irregular inside and outside tread wear.Getting under the rig with a 4 ft level I noticed a 1/4 to 3/8 inch bow top to bottom on the axle. Is this bow intentional or should it be flat? Jim

RE: weighing each wheel.

I recently pulled into a campground , and the 5th wheel ahead of me only had three wheels and he didn't even know it.. Seems all of the lug nuts sheared off some where on his trip and he didn't see the wheel assy leave the trailer. He recently had a flat and probably didn't torque the nuts up again.

are there any credit card companies that do not charge an extra percentage for transactions that take place out of the US? We are currently in Canada and the credit company charges 3%. Jim Moved to General RVing Issues forum from Towing.

cleaning off slide outs

I have 4 slide outs and would like to know if anyone has ever seen a product to clean off the leaves, twigs, water etc without going on top to do it. There should be a product that you could stand on the ground, and be able to sweep the slides from the ground. I know that awnings are available, but are heavy and a little pricy. suburban water heater

I have a 6 month old Jayco 5th wheel with a suburban 10 gal hot water heater. On electric, no problem (providing sufficient electric power is avail). On gas however however it is intermittent. Some times it will stay lit sometimes it will stay lit only 20 seconds or so. I have removed the tubes and blown them out and cleaned the orifice and the propane level is ok as well. Any suggestions as to what the problem may be? will be dry camping in about a week or so. Jim
