RE: 1988 LeSabro

It's a LeSharo. If you use this term for a search on this forum, there may be info that can help you determine the problem.

RE: Better route from West Coast to East Coast

For a little more scenery you can use US 2 from Seattle to upper Michigan. If there are hilly portions just drop down to I-90 for a while. If you go to Tahoe, cross NV on US50 for the "loneliest route" experience. Then you can use I-70 for crossing to east coast.

RE: what would you get?

Already have my spare change committed. I work as a volunteer guide in a 250-year house on the Fredericksburg battlefield that is owned by the National Park Service. I tell my visitors that I intend to give funds for a full renovation if my lottery ship ever docks. If yours comes, I be will pleased to discuss how you can help out instead. Good luck to all of us dreamers. I used to buy at $100 million but now only consider the $250 million and up jackpots. Guess that's what we call inflation.

RE: New "C" Owner

Not a really big change from a B. Good choice for a step up in space and getting a dry bath.

RE: NOVA Parks?

Bull Run Regional Park near Manassas is best fit for your rig. Full hook-ups are available. The Prince William Forest RV Park, a National Park concession, might have pull-throughs long enough for you. This is on I-95 at Rt. 234 (Exit 152). Both parks are about 25 miles from Mt. Vernon or mall attractions.

RE: Camping World Greenwood IN.. Backs out of sale!

Not a lawyer, but this sounds like a legally enforceable contract.

RE: K&N air filters, help or not

If you haven't done it recently, check the gap on your spark plugs. Just need to pull one to check. My truck has about 110k and I just changed the plugs. Gap was .050 instead of the specified .040 on all my plugs due to wear.

RE: Flatbed Storage Box/Doors?

I think I would try a piano hinge as the upper portion of a plywood door. If you install rubber tubing for the sealing and then use the sliding gate bolts for sealing there should be enough pressure to control water intrusion. For decoration, I always use the 90-degree corner molding to make a frame on the edges. Alternatively, the standard RV doors that are shown on your example photo can be purchased from RV suppliers.

RE: Huntington Beach -- Myrtle beach

Have stayed at both. MB is closer to the city. You can bike from the park (ask about the rear entrance onto the old coast highway). Sites are in wooded area. Has a fishing pier and convenient beach access. Also close to the airport noise. Don't know about parties but our area was not out of control. (Also had signs about snakes and we did see one on a walk of the camp roads.) HB has the marvelous castle ruins and is really quiet. HOwever, our sites were out in an open area that would not be ideal in hot weather. Just have to take your pick.

RE: Mt Rushmore in a 26' Class C

My Class C is about 24 feet and we always drive with no toad. It's been all over the western states with no trouble. Big problem at Mount Rushmore is paying the fee for parking the parking structure that looks like it was designed for the downtown of a large city. If there is a big problem with length or height, there will be signs for you. In some areas on the east side of Yosimete, there are signs for state highways that say the limit is 21 feet -- and I once had to back my older 21-footer up to make a curve. Just enjoy yourself - and remember that even at automatic transmission can be shifted down for extra control on steep areas. Also if it scares you just slow down. That way you will do less damage if you do hit something.

RE: Oil-less Turkey Fryer

I have one. It makes a nice juicy roasted turkey or chicken; only holds about 10 pounds. Have also used for pork country spareribs (the meaty type) by using bent wires or paperclips to suspend from the wire cover. This is a Chinese method that results in ribs that do not have a lot of grease. Never had true fried turkey because of oil cost and fire hazard. The oil-less makes a nice piece of meat but I wouldn't really say its the same as fried.

RE: What are U.S. Border Agents Confiscating This Year

I always have the theory that the border inspectors are given a list of items each day and get to choose one as "their priority" for the day.

RE: First Oregon Trip

Both Tugman and Umqua Lighthouse SPs are in the dunes region. Research these for possible fit. They both have full hookups available. Jesse Honeyman SP near Florence is on north side of the dunes region. A large sand dune allows people to slide down the hill into the swimming area. Not sure how access to the actual dunes area is controlled at this park.

RE: Can fresh water tank be overflowed?

Using the correct connection for outside fill (the large tube without any threading) does not cause any pressure build-up in the fresh tank. Extra water just gushes out the fill tube when the tank is full and then you shut off the hose. Extra water will also come out through the air-release tube as you drive. Just use the large tube so there is plenty of room for water to flow back. Use "hose and gush" method all the time without any water ever getting inside or harming the tank. In fact, if the air pressure release opening is blocked, I suspect the incoming water would just flow back out instead of building any real pressure on the tank. Sometimes I do step inside to look at the gauge because I prefer to fill about 2/3s to save weight. The hose can be inserted into the fill tube so it wedges enough to allow you to look at the guage.

RE: Newbie from VA

RE Prince William Park camping - there are two camping areas associated wtih the park. Within the park, the is Oak Ridge Campground. This area has no electric, sewer or water services for RVs so you will be "boondocking" as the regulars here call it. Sites require backing in as there are no pull-through sites in the Oak Ridge area. Also, there is no dump station in Oak Ridge. The second area is the Prince William Travel Trailer Village, which is an NPS concessionaire park. Physically, the campground must be entered off of Route 234 (Exit 152 North from I-95, towards Manassas). This one has full RV services (electric, water and sewer at site or at a dump station) but as noted the sites are more closely spaced. Access into the main Park requires driving to Exit 150 to pay an entry fee. Prince William is a beautiful park with many hiking trails. Unfortunately, the current layout for camping leaves some limitations for RV use. I have been a volunteer at the Park and have discussed the RV problems with the Park Supervisor. At present, there are no improvements designed to provide a dump station at Oak Ridge or to integrate the Concession area into the main park.

RE: PPL v Lazydays 1st purchase

You are limiting the question to only 2 of the many US RV dealers. Where to you intend to spend most of your RVing time? We can probably offer more advice if you have a starting point in mind. You need to consider that a dealer's service is only a strong concern if you plan to be near enough to that dealer to rely on the service department. A price-advertiser such as PPL is certainly more useful to you because you can check for models and then complete some sales discussions over the phone. A potential source for new models with lots of locations is Camping World RV Sales. Also rvdirect.com will give you a price over the internet for new models.

RE: Oregon Coast

Review all Oregon state parks in the areas you are visiting. Among the best in the United States so you should definitely choose from them first and then fill in with other alternatives.
