RE: Pin Box Shock Supressor

I run 85-90 psi in the air bag and I run 60 psi in my truck rear duals.. The truck door sticker recommends 60 and wear on the tires are perfect.

RE: Pin Box Shock Supressor

I have a fifth airbourn and love it . I have no chucking and it makes the ride much smoother. If the truck suspension was smoother I would not even feel the pin weight of the trailer, it was the best upgrade so far. I have a 14000 gvw trailer and around a 2800 pin weight. I like the looks of the fifth airbourn over the trail air because of the air bag and shock are hidden from the view and the elements.

RE: Parking on Concrete

I park on concrete on my side yard all the time. The only time it is not on concrete is when we camp. I just put new michelin LTX 2 on yesterday because my old Tacoma tires were 04's and have reached there age. I keep them covered when parked to protect them from the sun and I live in Lancaster Ca. in the desert and they just started to show some cracks. I also use 303 protectant on them all the time. I wish my decals would have lasted as long as my tire did.

RE: Left stranded night before Thanksgiving...

To the OP I have good sam also and two years ago a guy dropped a 8ft aluminum I beam on the 405 freeway right in front of my wife and it took out both right side tires and rims and front end damage. They said they can tow me to the nearest repair facility. I asked if I paid the difference can they tow me home which was 55 miles away. They said yes but I had to pay the difference which was 160.00 to get it home where I could get it to my preferred dealer for repairs. So I think he did get a bum rap because they will tow farther for a fee.

RE: tow vehicle tire air pressure/load quandary

You can buy a higher rated tire and use the higher air pressure when pulling and when your not pulling lower the air pressure to the recomended air pressure for a less stiffer ride. My old pickup I ran 80 psi in the rear when pulling my fiver and for everyday use I ran 50 psi with no ill effect on the tires.

RE: Anyone repaired a cracked AC shroud?

If you go the epoxy way I would take a small drill bit and drill a small hole at the end of the crack and this will help to stop it from traveling more. You could epoxy a light piece of plastic on the inside along the crack to give it some extra support.

RE: New Blue Ox Bed Saver

It maybe a waste of money to some but all it takes is one time to be distracted and there you have it, damaged truck and trailer. I dropped mine about 10 years ago and on my new Curt Q-5 I bought one for it. I may never need it but it is like car insurance, you pay many years without ever using it but one day you will need it and it is nice to have it. I think $200.00 is nice piece of mind insurance.

RE: Brakeaway Switch/Cable

On a fiver,I believe it is basically there to slow that mass of weight down to cause minimum damage. On a pull trailer,if you have your safety chains done right that trailer tongue should never hit the ground. The chains should be cross to cradle the tongue and short enough to just allow for turning so it can't move back too far to drop. I had a friend that the main hitch pin was not locked properly and it came out on the freeway. His chains kept the hitch from pulling all the way out of the receiver tube and gave him a chance to pull over without the tongue hitting the ground. He had the chains just long enough to turn but not too long that they let the hitch come out of the receiver and it save it from damage.

RE: Guift of a generator

I own one and it is a very good generator. My wife bought it for me on my 30th b-day and I am now almost 52. Do the math. I have used it a lot and at times not used for a long time. I use stabil in the gas and last winter is the first time I took the plug out and cleaned it. I had only one time where it was hard to start so I put carb cleaner in it and let it sit for a while then got it to run so it ran for a couple hours and no problem now. I love this generator.I share the usage with my Honda 2000.yes it is pretty guiet. Just as guiet as my Honda 2000.

RE: 2007 Challenger 35 CKQ

I own a 05 Challenger 34 TBH. The only major issues I had with it was the converter went out after 2 years and I had a problem with the rear slide floor that separated from the walls and I had to glue and use big screws from the bottom of the floor up to the walls bottom plate. The design of the floor that they do is poor at best. They used very small screws through the walls bottom plate down to the floor that had very little contact and only used 5 screws per side which could not support the weight of a sleeper sofa while traveling. The shock design is also poor. The brackets on mine were on too much of a angle and the shocks shafts bent over time. I re mounted them straight up and down and have had no trouble with them.I just got done with adding the equa flex equalizer and wet bolt kit which made a great improvement in the suspension. I also replaced the leaf springs which have sagged over the years and the originals in my opinion were to light. They had 3000 lb spings with 4 leafs on it and I upgraded to 6 leaf 3300 lb. springs which has also help the suspension ride.Other than that it has been a very good trailer. I bought it new in Dec. 04 I also moved the spare up front because I had a few times where I have dragged it coming out of some steep driveways, It was pretty easy to do. I also added a fifth airbourn pinbox which makes the ride very nice in the truck and takes a lot of stress of the frame up front. I also added some jt stong arms to the landing gear and rear jacks to stop a lot of the movement when parked. Hope you enjoy your new to you trailer. Jeff

RE: Merging onto an Interstate

The problem now a days is there is no consideration on the road. I drive a semi and it is impossible to get up to speed before you enter and have people from behind me pass in the gore point and take my lane out from under me when you have no choice but to push them for being rude. I just try to get up to speed as much as possible and merge in. you are always going to get that one person who has no idea what you have to do to get these beasts rolling. If they flip me off, I just wave and think out loud to them, Thank you for letting me know that I am number 1. Just got to love the rude and ignorant drivers.

RE: LED Lights

I have tried them. I found that the ones I got did not plug in properly. The plug portion only made proper contact on one side of my 2 light system. If I tried to put it in the other side it would have to be turn the opposite direction, with the lights facing up to work. I bought the 921 13 5050 warm white wedge car bulb round ones to put in and found that they put out a little bit more light than the original bulbs and that is what I am installing in my bedroom and rear room and I am going with the 48 5050 warm white panels for the living room.

RE: Underneath Spare Tire Carrier

Mine was mounted underneath at the rear about 4 feet in from rear and I would drag it occasionally on some bad driveways. I decided to move it to the front about 4 feet back and no problem dragging and is easier to get to especially when there is a flat. The trailer drops a little in rear with a flat, not some much with it in the front.

RE: Saftey chains

It is very rare that a 5th wheel comes loose. If not hitched properly you will know in the first couple of feet. Just like tractor trailers you don't see too many that come off. Not that it doesn't happen but not that often. Like others have said chains are required if you are using a goose neck hitch.

RE: opinion Please Suspension Upgrade

I did the wet bolts and ez flex but I was one of the ones who got the bad rubber and yes they replaced them I had to redo the installation . The replacements were also bad after about six months. I bought some trail air equa flex off ebay for 75.00 and it was the best decision. Big difference in ride.

RE: Feeling really foolish!

I did it about 10 years ago. That is why I have my bed saver on my Curt Q 5 now. 200.00 for the bed saver or 1000. 00 plus later down the road for damage to truck and trailer. Sorry to hear of your mishap.
